Madewell was founded in 1937 by Russian immigrant Julius Kivowitz. The company originally made workwear for men, such as overall, jeans, and pants for fishermen. Today, the company is owned by J. Crew and makes fashionable clothing for women.
The company continued to make workwear items for decades until the last American factory closed in 1989. Mickey Drexler, the former CEO of J. Crew, purchased the rights to the name and sold it to J. Crew in 2006. The company moved the brand away from work clothing to fashion clothing. Currently, J. Crew is a struggling brand, while Madewell is quite popular.
Madewell offers denim jeans, jackets and other denim items, dresses, shirts and tops, chambray, sweaters, tees, pants and shorts, jackets and outerwear, skirts, sleepwear, swimming wear, shoes and boots, bags, and jewelry.
ThredUp and Madewell have partnered to open stores that offer second-hand, quality clothing items in September 2021.
The first ThredUp and Madewell store opened in Brooklyn, New York, in late September 2021.
Headquarters are now located in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Where is specific contact info Madewell employees? My first time ordering from this company, and I did not receive the item I paid for. When I contacted Madewell support, I was simply told to check with their third-party seller. Seriously? What kind of company is this? So, they just take your money, and do not follow up at at all when a purchased item is not sent to a customer? What makes this worse is having to follow up like this is a massive waste of my precious time. I would like a refund FROM MADEWELL for the item I paid them for and never got.

I have a problem with a cancelled and charged order. Madwell cancelled the order I made on November 19th without even bothering to announce.
Only after a few days when I emailed customer service concerned about my order, for which I even got an order confirmation by mail, they told me they had cancelled it because they actually did not have the product in stock and the site was not updated…
I was also told that the amount would be refunded.
After that email exchange with customer service I received an email that the order had actually been cancelled.
Although my mails have been replied very quickly and I benefited of the standard texts of being sorry for any inconvenience Madewell has caused, the reality is that I paid for a product I did not receive and so far my refund has not been made.
More so, if the amount was on hold as per my bank statement, yesterday November 24th, after the email exchange, the hold was not released, but actually the amount has been charged by Eshopworld Madwell in Dublin and appears as a “successful transaction in my bank statement!!!!!
That is already a very abnormal procedure..Instead of a removal of the amount on hold, I got charged…And now, as per customer service I have to wait for the amount to return to my account and for the international partner to send a proof of refund. This is not normal and very frustrating, especially in the period before Christmas…
So, after not being able to order a desired product, I get charged and even more, I have to wait I don’t know how long for the paid amount to be refunded. That is some great commercial procedure…and a lot of professionalism.
It was my first attempt to order products from Madwell.com and so far, the experience has proven to be a very disappointing and frustrating one. I am still waiting for my refund, which hopefully will be made asap, before I proceed to report this issue to the competent authorities.

Longtime customer of madewell, jeans fit me better than any other. I went to the store today, I have never been treated better. The Little Rock store blows me away with their customer service every time. I was the only customer but they pulled me so many options and even though I missed the mark they said if I showed them the email I was insider they would honor it. Seriously the girls in the Little Rock store deserve a raise or to be training a customer service seminar. Truly happy.

Six months ago, I ordered the black monogram handbag. When it arrived no monogrammed handbag. I returned the item to the Scottsdale store. I placed another order for the monogram handbag. I received the handbag with no monogram. Why is it so hard to apply a monogram? I would return the handbag but I live in Sun City West and the store is in Scottsdale.
