Edy’s Ice Cream was founded in 1928 in Oakland, California, by Joseph Edy and William Dreyer. Edy already had a successful candy business and William an ice cream company. The pair decided to join forces to make ice cream. The original name of the company was Edy’s Grand Ice Cream.
The pair decided to make innovative changes to ice cream, including the invention of Rocky Road, Candy Mint, and Toasted Almond, at a time when other manufactures only offered vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. In 1947, however, the pair had a falling out and parted ways. Edy continued to make ice cream under his own name, as did Dreyer.
In December 2019, the company introduced a limited edition ice cream flavor called Touchdown, which contained football shaped fudge and caramel pieces.
Today, both companies are owned by Nestle. Edy’s Ice Cream had annual revenue in 2004 of 1.588 billion. Company headquarters are still located in Oakland, California.

I so agree that you need a secure plastic top on your ice cream containers. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your ice cream, but stopped buying it for that reason…that there is nothing secure from someone coughing on it or any of the imagined things when there is no security. Please, please use some secure method of your choosing!!!
I want so badly to begin buying it again.

Why do all these companies put corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup in their foods? Don’t you people know that you are putting Roundup Ready Corn in these products that causes cancer? I lost a kidney due to this poison and it’s in your ice cream, soda pop, bread, yogurt, etc. You used to have Vanilla Bean here where I live that was made with real sugar but now it has corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup aka Roundup in it. You have lost me as a customer until you get rid of this garbage in your product!

I am diabetic and was so thrilled to find an Edy’s ice cream that was good for diabetics. However, I have only found it at one of the Dollar General stores here in Springfield, TN. The slow churned ice cream with NO SUGAR ADDED is delicious. The Dollar General store at 1106 Central Ave. W has it , and after looking at several others stores, I have not found it. Your home page says Walmart has Edy’s, but not any more. Some of the stores have Edy’s, but not the slow churned with NO SUGAR ADDED. I would also like to know if you make any other flavors besides Classic Vanilla in NO SUGAR ADDED. Thank you for your help.

We love your icecream… so many varieties… but we are concerned, as are others, that you do not have a tamper proof film on the container. Please fix this … before someone makes it a problem!!!
Shayla says
I just sent them a message about this exact same thing. I did not realize it was not tamper-proof when I bought it. I will not be buying this brand again until they fix that.
Louise says
I’ve noticed recently that some of the containers now have a thin piece of cardboard covering them, but it’s underneath the lid; so if you take it home & the cardboard is partially loose (which has happened to me), you don’t know if someone tampered with it. They need to put a plastic strip around the outside of the lid so people will be comfortable in knowing that it’s actually sealed properly.

I purchased chocolate ice cream. Just plain chocolate…or so I thought. I tastes more like “raw cocoa powder” flavored ice cream. Ice cream manufacurers used to focues on making QUALITY ice cream. Now they seem more focused on making “UNIQUE” ice creams, with pretzels and SEA SALT in them. At one time flavors were such things as RASPBERRY, PEACH, CHERRY, etc. NATURAL flavors. Ice cream flavors now are un-natural. And un-palatble, to those who just want QUALTIY, rather than uniqueness.

I am sorry to say i just had a bad experience with your product. I pulled out a hair about 10″ long. It ruined my evening.
Angela S says
Is really loved your slow churned ice cream but, I have complained several times about putting a seal around the opening so that it cannot be tampered with. With all that’s going on today I feel and you should too that some kind of seal should be placed on the container so that it’s not so easy to be opened by some nut case, which has happened as I’m sure you have heard of. Thanks for your time. Until this is addressed I do not feel comfortable buying your product as well as others that have also stated their concerns ?

Please contact grocery stores in the Columbus, OH area and give them a method to include your Espresso Chip item in their stores. They claim that there is no distributor in this area that carries this flavor. Please find a distributor for this area and incentivize grocery stores in this area to carry this 5 star product.

I tried to call you today during business hours and the lady that answered the phone said there was no Timothy Kahn that works there. She was very abrupt and quite rude. On your website you have a Timothy Kahn listed as your CEO. I called back a second time and then your phone system just went to a series of prompts and voice mails and I couldn’t even get an operator on the phone. It does not appear to me that you really care about your customers. Very dissapointing that such a large company can’t even seem to answer their phone.
Unhappy Customer says
Chuck, i tried the same number today Nov. 20, 2019, and got the same unprofessional experience. Pathetic. Edy & Dreyer would turn over in their graves, upon knowing this.

My wife and I love your slow churned 1/2 the fat Ice Cream. However I have 2 complaints.
1) The 2 major supermarkets on Long Island NY are Stop & Shop and Shoprite and neither chain sells your product.
2) I purchase the Ice Cream from Guintas Meat Farms, but they do not carry the Black Cherry Flavor which is our favorite. They carry every other flavor. Why not the Black Cherry?
Thank you for your time.

Loved your slow roasted vanilla ice cream. After that: BLAH! All forms of communication (emaail, Talk email msg, telephone) ZERO.Doubts about this?
Try for some honesty in your communications. Incidentally, this is my 4th day of failed communications. Liked your slw churned vanilla. Trying Brad’s tonight!

The email link and phone number to the corporate office in our listing work- give them a try!

I would like to know if you are still making spumoni ice cream and if it is in the stores already. Also can you tell me what stores in the Towson area of Baltimore County, MD might be carrying it. Thank you very much.

Your ice cream has been one of my favorites, but I just purchased French Vanilla reduced fat and it has the texture of dried out play dough. Have you changed your recipe? Very disappointing.

I would like to find a store in my zip code 46143 (Greenwood, Indiana) or 46227 (Indianapolis, Indiana) where I can purchase Edy’s No Sugar Added ice cream. I no longer can find it at any of the grocery stores in my area. HELP! Please!

I mailed a letter to the Corporate Office. In the letter I included a foreign object that was in a spoonful of ice cream I was consuming. I am hoping you will look into this and follow up by contacting me.

To whom this may concern,
I purchased Edy’s cookie dough ice ceam. I LOVE the flavor of your Ice cream and the Chocolate chips they are so great! But the cookie dough pieces were disgusting??? You really need a different flavor of cookie dough. Then your cookie dough ice cream would be perfect! Thanks for listening to my concern. Concerned buyer
