Exede History

Exede was launched in 2012 by ViaSat, Inc. The company operates a satellite based internet and telephone service. The company is powered by the Via-Sat 1 satellite, which has won the Guiness World Book of Records title for the satellite with the highest capacity for communication services.

As of 2015, the company has more than 687,000 customers in the US. The company provides services for those who live in remote areas who cannot use cable based telephone or internet service. The Via-Sat 1 has 63 beams and a 15 year lifespan. The company plans to launch Via-Sat 2 sometime in 2017 and is expected to double the Via-Sat capabilities.

Customers use a satellite dish, similar in size to other television satellites, as well as a wifi modem for service. The company also offers voice over IP for telephone service. Dish Network is the major reseller of Exede, although they market the internet service under their own name. The Via-Sat 1 satellite is the one used by American Airlines and others for broadband service while in-flight.

Service is terrible. Called because my internet stopped working. This is immediately following Hurricane Irma so I knew my dish was most likely moved and need adjusting. First they want to follow a script and do some troubleshooting to find hey there is a problem with your antenna. They schedule a appointment for two days later which I have to take off work for to meet the technician. He shows up and first thing he says is that he cannot do anything cause he doesn’t have a ladder long enough to reach the dish. What does he think he was coming to do? I call three times back to customer service and they tell me they are basically up to the mercy of the technicians and when they will have to wait until they call me back. All they can do is schedule another appointment for the next day even though I explained that I cannot keep taking off work to meet a technician that does nothing. He did mention moving my dish to the yard on a pole, but that would cost me over $100 in materials and labor. I don’t need a new dish, I need the one I already have to work. Not my fault they decided to install it on top of a two story house and then not have the correct tools for the job when they have to provide service.

I asked on the third call trying to get service for he same day to be escalated to someone higher that can make a decision and hold someone accountable for poor service. I as told she was the highest they could escalate too. Such crap, if she was the CEO I would then agree with her, but someone at that company needs to take charge.

BTW, we need internet for our jobs and cannot rely on their service. Which means my customers cannot rely on our service either.

I will not even rate them a 1. They should be a -10 on ratings. What a ripoff and nothing but lies. When you talk to a CSR or Supervisor they speak to you like you are dumb and don’t know how the data works!!!! Hello I know how the DATA works. I have had a smartphone for years now and I know how to manage my DATA!! Worst Company ever!!! I can’t put into words how HORRIBLE this company is!! Customer Service is by far the worst I have ever dealt with.

I had the dish put up, fist he ask me to not watch him install the internet and then I know why, he said the trees were in the way so he put it on top of a shad on a peace of plywood and did not bury all the wire and stapled arrests on the porch instead of running it up under the house when I had high winds it blew off and I called they gave me his number and he said I had an attitude this been 3 days ago and I’m still waiting on him. Sorry service and sorry way I do that he could have put it on a pole out there I know I’ve done work like this before and I’m never done anybody work like this before. Now I’m waiting on him to show up because he can take that dish with him when he shows up very unsatisfied customer I’ll never been treated like this before

This so called company exede is absolutely nothing other than a scam. By far the worst people on this earth work here. They’ll steal your money and give you nothing in return.. such liars. I don’t get how this lying s**thole company still in business.. I can only imagine how many people sued there a**es.. and it’s going to be another

We got Exede after I contacted DirecTV about a bundle. My grandfather could no longer afford what we were paying for DirecTV and HughesNet separately. HughesNet had decent service but at too high a price. DirecTV told us they offer a bundle ViaSat/Exede that we could get since they wouldn’t bundle with a service we already had. The offer sounded good, so I talked with my grandfather and we said yes. A few days later, they installed the service and everything seemed okay, if a little slower than HughesNet. That was five days ago and – already – I AM DONE. If I could afford the $360 it costs to cancel before end of contract, I would in a heartbeat. The is the worst service I’ve ever encountered. The dial-up I had back in the mid-00’s was better than this. Between the constant buffering, the less-than-DVD quality of videos EVEN WITH FULL DATA, and the websites not loading more than half the time, I am at my wits’ end. I’ve called for help and all they did was point fingers at Microsoft for the poor streaming on my XBOX One (which I checked, and Microsoft is NOT the problem) and my computer for the websites not loading (which – again – I checked and – again- it is NOT the problem). I was not given what I was promised and am now reading through the contract in the slim hope that I can get out of this contract with the Devil.

If you are considering signing with Exede – DO NOT. Both their internet and customer service is poor. Go to HughesNet. At least with them I was happy, less stressed, and able to do my college school-work.

Please Please Please run from Exede. Exede is a total rip off. I’ve had them for less than a month and already have had issues and have been lied to from the very beginning. The reason I got the services was to stream so they offered the highest package which is the 150/25. I told Samantha who is a contractor out of Savannah that my children and husband streams religiously. “Oh yes, this will work perfectly for you”, she says. Lies..I reached 113 and still had 16 more days to go before my next billing cycle so it would start buffering and moving slow. I was told by the contractor that I would receive a bill when to pay my first bill. Lies. I was disconnected after 2 weeks of service. I called and it stated that I owed $130. Why? If the plan I have is $109?. I was told then and not at the time of installation that they automatically charge $5.99 for insurance in case a tech has to come out and 9.99 for equipment rental. (DecREPLg) I have complained several times and was told they would wave certain fees. (We’ll see)I called to make a payment and the rep told me to pay the minimum of $106.00 that would reconnect me. Lies. He asked me to turn on my computer to make sure its connected. After not being able to connect he suggested transferring me to tier 2 or having a tech come out. So after transferring me to tier 2 the rep there stated the reason I wasn’t connected was because I had to pay the remainder $30. REALLY? So basically the prior rep has no clue about his job. So being that it was 930 at night. The Reconnect Dept was closed. So, I’m up early this Saturday morning trying to solve an issue with a poor internet company. So, I’m speaking with another CSR who I again explained my horrible experience to again tells me I need to call back at 9am to get reconnected because the Reconnect Dept was not open😡. She says to pay the $30 and get reconnected.I called back at 9, pay the $30 all to be told by Angela that because I was disconnected, I would have to do a new contract (I never did a first contract) and they would need my card information to do a $60 hold. WHAT THA!!!! Now im furious even more. NO!! Cancel me NOW and asked to be transferred to a supervisor. I spoke with “Supervisor” Tonya who stated that she would wave half of my termination fee to $172.50 and mail me a final bill. This has been a nightmare and a waste of time and money. I will not refer this company to any of my friends or family. They are not reliable and are rip offs. I am definitely looking to take legal actions because I was not told by either the tech or the initial Rep who set up my acct that I was bound by a paperless contract. What’s a freaking paperless contract??? I never received a welcome letter by mail or email explaining anything. DON’T GET EXEDE

I HAVE BEEN WITH EXCEDE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW AND THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE, THEY CONVINCED ME IT WAS MY LACK OF DATA SO I UPGRADED THEN I REPLACED THE MODEM , FINALLY THEY SENT OUT A TECH TO FIND OUT THE PERSON THAT ORIGINALLY INSTALLED EXCEDE DID NOT CONNECT THE WIRES PROPERLY, I CALL AND CALL WITH COMPLAINTS THEY SAY I WILL GET CREDITS THAT THEY NEVER ACTUALLY APPLY, THEY TAKE MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT I HAVE TALKED TO SUPERVISORS WHO ARE RUDE, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE YOU TALK YOU ABOUT YOUR BILL HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOUR BILL ACTUALLY IS, THEY TELL YOU ONE AMOUNT AND TAKE MORE. I WORK FROM HOME SO WHEN MY INTERNET IS DONE I LOOSE MONEY AND THEY DON’T CARE I AM SO OVER THESE PEOPLE THAT I BELIEVE I NEED TO GET AN ATTORNEY ANS SUE THE PANTS OFF OF THEM. Grateful that my new bank account was set up wrong by your Rep or I would be screwed like the ones above. hahah
3 days in used all my 25 gb and was told it would last close to a month. slower than my phone before it ran out.

You double charged me on a one time payment form my husband’s card. When asked where to refund because they did catch the same time double payment. I told them it had to go back to my husband. Not my money. Now I’m being told that it is not possible and cannot be escalated. I have just now read your reviews and could not find one single positive review. I will not steal money from my husband and won’t allow any one else due to an error with a button being pushed twice at tyhe same time. I want 62.46 refunded to my husband account asap or I will join class act suit that is presently building against your company

Never, ever again. Bunch of thieves!!!!!! I am so angry!!!!!! I moved June 1st, asked for you to move my service. You sent me an email saying that it couldn’t be hooked up at new address, no sight line, ticket closed. Last week my card was charged $160.55 for that old address at 3827 East Smith Road, Bellingham, WA. I spent 4 hours on the phone with you, to be finally told it would take 7-10 business days to refund that. Yesterday, you took $223.00 out of my account, for the new address that has never had service. I am SOOOOOO ANGRY!!!!!! That was my car payment. I now sit on hold with your agent waiting for a manager. I want my refund back today. I will call the newspapers, the better business bureau, my government officials etc if I don’t get a response today and a refund by tomorrow. As it is, you now owe me almost $400.00 taken out of my account for no good reason.

Guess what they are out sourcing their customer service in another country so if Any complaints ,It Will Not Matter. I told them I have very bad reception and on their Liberty Pass after 6 days so it is worse than dial up. Believe me you will be sorry if you get this service. Now to disconnect I have to go up on roof to remove everything and I am disabled So they will charge me $90. Or if not return equipment it is $300. Remember you were warned, I was also not PAYING the price.

Absolutly the worst company ..thieves, crooks, swindlers. Everything in previuos quotes is happening to us, they failed to provide ther services, charged us twice, in 12 days of asking for service then canceling, they have stolen nearly 1000.00 from our account! RUN RUN RUN from this company!!!

Who can I talk to about High Speed Internet in my area. Because of the lack of cellphone towers in my community no one offers high speed internet only with the satellite dish. But a new Cellphone Tower is being put up, would your company be interested in running cable lines to provide really fast, high speed internet in our area
?

I opened a new account with EXEDE in May, the LIBERTY 30 program. The price was quoted as $69.99 plus $9.99 for the equipment lease. Then my first bill was $181, and when we called they now tell us this plan is not available. I have an email from you EXEDE along with a letter showing this price. I have sent countless emails, and have placed phone calls, and even sent a letter to VP OF CUSTOMER SERVICE in Englewood, CO and received NO RESPONSE. I need SOMEONE to take ownership of the $69.99 price and I EXPECT a call or mail ASAP.

I saw a ad in a classified paper saying unlimited wi fi. When I called the number I was told it was 49.99 a month. I explain I was with Hugenet and direct tv. I had a remaining 2 yr contract with Hugenet and I was not happy with the service because after 10 gb my internet would slow down. I had a free zone in the wee hrs of the mourning but being an elder that was out for me. So I told them I was looking for internet that wouldn’t go down. That way I could stream programs on my computer. I could get rid of direct tv and Hugenet which would save me some monies since I am on a fixed income. I would not be under a contract. I could not afford the two anymore. The Excede rep. offered me a discount of $10.00 if I had direct tv but again I told them with what they were offering I wouldn’t need direct tv. The man I talked to told me I would be able to do all I wanted to do with Excede with no problems or reduction of internet.. There would be no reduction in the internet services. I told him I would have to pay a termination fee for Hugenet but in the long run It would be worth it. He assured me I would not have a problem. He also represented Hugenet which he said the same thing about no interruption in service with him and that excede was a much faster wifi. He never said anything about a contract. I arrange for the installers to come out. That same day I called Hugenet( whom I still had a 2 yr contract with them) and cancelled the service based on the information I was given. I also did not renew my services with direct tv. A few days later I received a letter from Excede with a bill for $60.00 plus $9.99 for equipment fee. It also said I was making a 2 yr commitment in the agreement. What agreement? I did not commit to a 2 yr agreement. The price was not what was told to me. I was also told I was signed up for Liberty 12 boost 25 + free zone. I talked to customer service which the rep. was very sorry about what happen. Her remedy was $10.00 knocked off bill for 12 months and $25.00 off first bill. I gave up Hugenet risking a termination fee and Direct tv for Excede based on all lies. Excede’s wifi is the same thing I was getting from Hugenet with some minor differences. I would have stayed with Hugenet. The installers also took my Hugenet dish. Now I am being threatened with the possibility of termination fees for a contract I did not sign up for. I am left with nothing because of the lies and deceit I received FROM Excede.

Just like Irene Guevara said it happened to me also. Then on top of that mine didn’t for a couple of days after the installation for some technical issues. When I ran out of my data in a few days I cancelled and was told tby the CORPORATE OFFICE mind you that I would not be charged an early termination fee and would be sent the box for thevreturn of the equipment. This took place in November. In January, they started charging for service again! Well, I still had the equipment. Will you never sent the box so I thought you didn’t want it. It’s at my house, but I can’t use it. So I send it back and NOW the ch as rge me for early termination fee! SERIOUSLY!

First of all iwant to say why? I was falsely advertised that my freedom plan with boost off 150 gb unlimited package was UNLIMITED. The salesperson told me i had no worries (mind you it was recorded ) that it was unlimited fast internet. He never told me you can run out of the 150 gb. Never once atleast mentioned it. We did for our two little boys who only wanted internet so they can watch videos and cartoons on their new xbox we so much sacrificed for just to be lied too and not get what we promised. Please give me answer this is not right. This is false advertising. Ive only had your services for 1 week and 3 days all i want is to cancel.
