Von Maur was founded in 1872 by J.H.C. Petersen and his three sons in Davenport, Iowa. Petersen’s son, William, sold the store in 1916 to R. Harned and the Von Maur brothers. The Von Maur’s assumed complete ownership of the company after Harned passed away in 1937.
Today, the company has 30 locations and offers upscale clothing, footwear, ladies handbags, jewelry, and accessories. Von Maur is known for offering an interest free credit card, free shipping, free shipping for online returns, and free gift wrapping. Most Von Maur stores feature a live pianist playing music during business hours.
Von Maur is continuing to open new stores at a time when many locations are cutting back. The company announced that they would take over the former Nordstrom location in the Mall of Georgia, as well as open a second store in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area in the fall of 2016.

I have shopped at Von Maur for years and online as well. Really disappointed with what I received today . I ordered online for the GIFTS PLURAL to be Gift wrapped. I ordered about 11 items for them to be wrapped up in large box?????? How cheap can you get? Not to mention your $3 Door fee you put on EVERY item if its on sale that’s past ridiculous . I could see putting $3 charge per order but every item that is in sale?? You are now cutting corner’s and putting all 11 items in one box and just the ONE box is wrapped ………….talk about cheap and TACKY.

Good afternoon,
I would like to file a formal incident report on the Greenwood, Indiana Store.
I was walked in on while undressed in the women’s changing room by a male manager.
This incident has been eating on me for weeks now and I do not want any women to go through what I went through. The excuses made to me will never change what happened to me and others unless the procedures are in place and locks for the doors are implemented. I do not want this to happen to any lady no matter if it was an accident or lord fore bid a planned invasion of privacy!
Very very concerned for the protection and safety of all women!!!

I would like this message to be seen by somebody higher than corporate, I want to purchase this elk Mohala three door chest from the Brookfield von Maur store it’s not on the floor but they said they’re sending it back to the company. Why on earth would you go through the efforts to send it back to the company when you have a customer who wants to buy it. I am a big customer of Von Maur and I feel I’ve been treated unfairly. I purchased The chest for full price after 14 days I noticed it was on sale for half price so I returned it and wanted to buy it back they wouldn’t sell it to me of course they put in the back room next morning I went into Von Maur to purchase it they said it’s going back to the manufacture. I’ve talk to somebody in corporate and they said that’s their policy a ticket was made out to send back to the manufacture and there’s nothing they can do about it why don’t you just destroy the ticket and put it back on the floor and sell it to me I don’t understand why your store would handle it this way. It would cost you less money for me to purchase it then having to go through sending it back. Please advise thank you

I feel the Von Maur should offer Health Insurance to part time associate’s who work 20 to 25 hours a week. I feel it would help keep the stores fully staffed, as our store is severely understaffed most of the time.
Also not being able to drink water or at least have it in the back for the associates is not good for any of us as we get Dehydrated most days, especially when are are the only one covering our area.

My concern is regarding the treatment of employees by management. It seems that in my local Von Maur a single complaint outweighs years of unfailing service by employees.
Far too often, I find a favorite person has been terminated. I like consistency and to be helped by people who know my style and preferences.
It is difficult to feel loyal to an organization that seems to have little loyalty to the people who make them what they are!

Please pay attention and read this carefully before you get scammed by buying fake Louis Vuitton bag from Von Maur like me and others which we trusted Van maur’s product to be authentic . I did not know Van Maur sale a fake Louis Vuitton bag (they claimed it to be second hand or used Louis Vuitton bag)
I purchased a louis Vuitton bag from Van maur Eden prairie, Minnesota 55344 in April 2017. I paid $1050 + tax(total=$1126). The bag broke down not even me using it for 6 months. I took it back to the store for return and a very disrespectful manager on duty told me the fact that the bag is final sale. I said I did not want to return the bag but if is defective and I showed her how the leather was falling apart like a paper. She said she has no way of returning it, if she does, she will be fired. She suggested I should talk to the store manager. I was very upset and I left the bag at the store and walked away. Waited about 45 minutes until the store manager (her name=Lize) to comes and explain to her why I want to return the bag. To my disappointment, she told me the same thing. I reached-out and called Van Maur corporate office and spoke with Jake (director of lost prevention for Van Maur) and reginal director (Dawn). They both told me the fact that they can’t return the bag. I called Louis Vuitton and explained to them what happed to the bag and asked them what I should do. They said they could do nothing since Van maur is licensed to buy and sale a fake Louis Vuitton hand bags, they could not confirm if the bag was authentic. They told me if I bought it from them, either they will repair it or replace it. I am so…disappointed, disgusted, scammed, and wasted $1126 just because I trusted the store called Van Maur. All I got from Van Maur was very poor customer service and a fake louis Vuitton bag for $1126. I will never shop at Van Maur. Speaking of my fake Louis Vuitton Bag from Van Maur, as I left it at the store, never picked it up.

I purchased a Louis Vuitton bag from VonMaur during a trunk show put on by What Goes Around Comes Around. I paid $1050.00, and the bag fell apart within five weeks of carrying it. I took it upon myself to take it to Louis Vuitton to have it repaired, and they said they could do nothing for me because they could not confirm if the bag was authentic and it was beyond repaired. I told the Louis Vuitton rep that I had a card showing that the bag was authenticated, which he informed me had no merit because a lot of secondary retailers are certifying fake purses. I have reached out to local and regional management in regards to this, only to be told there is nothing they can or will do about this. I had shopped at VonMaur since the 90’s when I lived in the Chicago suburbs as well as here in Louisville, KY. I am so disappointed in their response and how I have been treated, I plan to shop elsewhere.

I experienced a very disrespectful situation at store #3. Monitoring a department manager talking about a customer to another department manager. The customer clearly knew she was being talked about and the one manager then said hi to her as if the customer didn’t realize she was being talked about. Very unfortunate due to the fact this customer is a very frequent shopper at this location. I’ll be sure to direct people away from this store for future purchases. I thought VonMaur managers would have more respect than this. In addition, I believe some of the part time workers are more friendly and acknowledgeable thsn some of the department managers that have worked 20+ years there. Pretty sad.
