Tijuana Flats was founded in 1995 by Brian Wheeler. Wheeler loved Tex-Mex cuisine and wanted to start his own restaurant. Wheeler was just out of college, however, and had no funds. He borrowed $20,000 from his parents and opened the first location in Winter Park, Florida.
Today, Tijuana Flats has more than 100 locations in 6 states and has 3,000 full time employees. Wheeler’s father also works for the company as well. Wheeler also markets his own hot sauce, which is sold throughout the US, called “Smack My Ass & Call Me Sally.”
In addition to the restaurants and hot sauce, the company also provides catering service. Tijuana Flats also donates all of the profit from their Just In Queso hot sauce to local charities, such as the American Red Cross.

Tel Mr. Rybach his s**t for brain decision to change the red sauce to Chipotle was a colossal mistake. I asked for
my money back and now TF lost another customer. Me. The Manager told me they have been getting many complaints.
Puke, Puke, Puke and more Puke.
Also the new menu sucks except the wings were a good addition..
I was there at dinner time and maybe 3 tables besides us had customers a far cry from the hay day.
What a shame TF really F’d up this time.
Peace out

Unprofessional conduct by Tijuana manager. Worked in the kitchen, fired because my manager refused to train me and would assault me and ridicule me. Make fun ofr for not speaking Spanish. And fired me when I asked other manager to schedule me only on shifts he was not working. I was told I was doing great. 2 days later I was fired for sticking up for.myself. I’m suing. Lawyered up.

Ashley Alonso says
My name is Ashley Alonso and I worked at Tijuana Flats on 280 N State Rd 7 #300, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33414. I worked there as of last night (Tuesday, May 23, 2017). This is because I was fired. Why was I fired, you ask. I’ll tell you, Im a 28 year old mother of two, I worked at Tijuana Flats in Wellington 3 years prior, I was a trainer and making $8.50/hr so when I was hired I was more than familiar with the rules and regulations, I was told I would have to start from the bottom and work my way up starting at $6.50/hr but from the beginning i have had to jump through hoops while others stand around and talked, I am the oldest worker and the only mother so why was i scheduled to work an open and close shift on Mother’s day while everyone else who are 17-22 years old got the day off? Because my managers are inconsiderate, I wasnt part of the “cool kids club” so I was iced out of the group, constantly told to do things when i was already tending to customers while my coworkers talked about their plans for the weekend with the managers, they couldnt be bothered apparently. One night on a Monday, it was slow all day and night, nobody was in the restaurant and it was 9:59pm (we closed at 10pm). there was no one coming to pick up food so i locked ONE door (we have two). My job was threatened and I was written up for locking the door 30 seconds before the scheduled time. Other managers lock the doors and turn off the sign 5 MINUTES before the scheduled time. On another incident I and 2 other girls were LOCKED on register on a Tuesday night (our busiest night), there were 5 people to run food and assist guests, the kitchen yelled for a running and my manager looked ME dead in the face and said “oh i guess you’re too busy to run food” now my GM Daniel Chiapperini, makes a lot of jokes and catches attitude toward the people who arent his favorites and i made the joke, “I guess you need more than 5 people to run food?” and he told me to clock out and leave. Apparently I struck a nerve so i clocked out and left. I didnt say a word to any of my coworkers about the situation because it was between my manager and I however everyone came up to me and sad they heard what happened, my manager unprofessionally told people what happened, i was off the next day but the following day I opened and went up to my manager and apologized for my indiscretion to which he replied “Its fine, I dont hold grudges.” Oh but yes you do because it’s been one thing after another ever since. My schedule for the week was posted and I was scheduled open and close on Sunday, 5:30pm-9:30pm on Tuesday and Closing shift on Wednesday. Well my wednesday night shift was taken away and i heard from the grapevine that the managers tried getting another girl to pick up my Tuesday shift. I could feel that they were trying to get rid of me but because i do my job they didnt really have anything concrete to fire me over so on Tuesday May 23rd 2017, I went into work and stayed out of the way and just tended to the guests. By the end of the night i was told to clock out and sit down before my shift was over. I did as I was told. i waited 20 minutes for my GM and AGM to talk to me. I was asked how I felt I did, I replied that i kept to myself and did my job. My GM told me that I made a lot of mistakes and he had to let me go. Here are the scenerios that took place:
1. I overlooked sour cream on a guest’s taco when the ticket clearly said “no sour cream”
If that is my mistake then the kitchen should be penalized for making the food wrong cuz they read the ticket wrong too…. no repercussionss
2. When bagging TO-GO orders we are to sign the ticket WHEN FISNISHED, I was not finished so i didnt sign it yet, I was told that procedure was to sign it before leaving the prep area.
3. One girl was on register and there was a line, they sent the other girl home and a third girl jumped on register to help, she was told to get off register. i was helping to get drinks and i was told that i should have jumped on register having seen the line was so long but knowing that the other girl who helped was told to get off i didnt think i needed to jump on. And when asked why my GM didnt just ask me to jump on register while i was right next to the register, i was told “so now i have to tell you to do your job?” no sir but I cant read your mind so if you sent one of your cashiers home maybe assigning a new cashier would have been advised to keep the flow of business instead of using it as yet another excuse to get rid of me.
The girl at the register had rung in Bangin’ Chk TOSTADAS so when i ran the food to the guest the guest said they had ordered CHK FLAUTAS. yet this girl didnt get penalized for messing up, a cook in the back was on his phone while on the line and he wasnt penalized… workers have not come in to their shifts and didnt bother calling to say they couldnt make it and they arent penalized, some have second jobs and have to leave at their scheduled time to get to their other job on time and that has been an issue yet others have to leave early to play basketball or do homework and they leave early without a problem. There’s a HUGE problem with favoritism at this location and it’s not right. They do not work as a team, they bully their employees and talk bad about them to other workers, if they have an issue with an employee they dont bother going and resolving the issue with said employee they talk to everyone else and make the employee feel unwanted and uncomfortble til they quit. A new hire was really looking forward to working for this company and he persistently called to talk to the GM who told him he got the job but had yet to put him on the schedule. The GM purposely avoided the calls and went out of his way to avoid this kid because “he was so annoying, constantly calling about his job and if he could pick up any shifts” Sorry to tell you Mr. Chiapperini that is called initiative and dedication, something that you dont seem to look for in your employees.
As for the AGM, Kaylee Henderson, she displays poor characteristics of a manager as well, she is rude and admits that she doesnt care that she’s rude to her employees, she calls her employees “stupid” and “B****”, she does not bother to help the FOH when they get busy but would rather hang out in the kitchen with the boys, if she has to do a refill she complains that she is doing our job. she sits on her phone and if she has a friend come in, you’ll never see her, she makes their food and comps it then sits with them the entire time they are there. In the Handbook it states that “NO EMPLOYEES” are to have their phones on them yet the managers are on snapchat and instagram and texting all shift but when i check my phone for a minute for any messages pertaining to my kids i get yelled at. I feel like I was wrongly fired and targeted.

Hooray! Rumor has it that you’re opening up a restaurant in Valrico, FL 33596. Is it true? So excited!! The closest Tijuana Flats to us now is in Brandon Florida and it is always packed. So excited to hear if it is true that you are building a restaurant there. Question… My sister and her husband absolutely love your restaurant and go there to to three times a week! How can I get them on the VIP grand opening test run that will occur in Valrico? It will be a fabulous surprise. They will absolutely love it and will be telling all of their friends about this. Please help me, every time we drive by the potential site she has to tell me it’s coming soon!

Dear Security Administrator, I wish to make a formal complaint against your restaurant and request an investigative review of your closed circuit security camera system involving a theft of my handbag and contents therein to include my wallet containing my driver’s license, store and bank credit cards, cash ($110.00USD), an iPhone 6S mobile device, the device charger, and my sunglasses. This incident happened on November 10th, 2016, at the Tijuana Flats 2089 Palm Beach Lakes, West Palm Beach, FL 33409 establishment. I am enclosing copies of my purchase receipt, West Palm Beach Police Department responding officer’s report, and restaurant general manager’s contact card provided to me.
In summary, the evening of November 10th, 2016, during a relocation house hunting trip to the area we decided to dine in your establishment, in celebration of our new found home. Upon ordering our meal, we took a table for the order to be completed. During which I left the table to wash up in the restroom. I had left my hand bag at the table chair with my husband. My husband decided to change tables to an outdoor one due to the loud music playing indoors. He had left the original table unaware of my handbag that had been left on an adjacent chair. Our food arrived immediately to the outdoor table. Only after dining did I realize not having my displaced handbag in my possession. I asked the counterperson lady if they had found my brown leather “Michael Kors” handbag, possibly by cleaning the tables. She responded, “yes, a customer returned it” and proceeded to retrieve it from the kitchen area. Upon inspecting the returned handbag, all the contents were missing. In shock, I mentioned it to her and the restaurant manger and they seemed to not know anything about my dilemma. Having no communication device, I asked the restaurant manager to contact the local police department to file an incident report.
Understandably, the issue and concern I have is that I find it with great suspicion that a bag would be returned and only the contents described would be missing. I ask that you review your security camera video and determine the sequence frames to various locations in your restaurant with possible entities involved to include further interviews with the employees.
I hope that you will look into this matter and contact me with your further findings. At this time, I am hesitant to return to your restaurant for future dining.
Thank-you and Regards, Andrea Barros Kosal

I never had an issue with your restaurant (we actually love it) until today 11/26/2016. Placed an order online and when my daughter came home it was exactly what we tried for it not to happened. I ordered Nachos and requested for everything to be put on the side, which it says it on the receipt. Obviously I wanted for the ships to be crunchy not soggy. When my daughter opened the box, they had put the beans and the cheese on top and the cheese melted, the ships were soggy (it looked horrible). I called the store and asked to speak with a manager or supervisor and she said something like NO there is none or something like that and then I started to tell her about the order, she apologized and put me on hold and 5 minutes went by and I was still on hold, so I hanged up. The store is located at 13651 Hunter Oak Dr Suite 104 Orlando, Fl
Thanks,

I recently addressed an issue with poor quality of service at a Tijuana Flats located on East Colonial Drive in Orlando, Florida across from the Fashion Square Mall. I emailed the area supervisor Aron Goodenbury to address the issue, he was responsive to this issue by making the promise to compensate for my family’s experience of poor service & pay for an entirely new meal under the company’s expense if we were willing to give Tijuana Flats another chance. I agreed as I have never had an issue with the quality of food or service prior to this particular evening, however, this evening that my family of 5 went to have dinner – we were given the wrong order FIVE times. FIVE. It was horrendous & unacceptable. He then insulted me by not fulfilling this promise by sending me a 25 dollar gift card! 25 dollars for a meal that my family spent nearly 50 dollars on! I sent Aron the last 4 digits of the card used for the transaction & the evening it was processed so he would be able to confirm the money was spent. I am appalled that he felt it was appropriate to pay for HALF of my family’s meal in which we all experienced poor service! Shame on Aron for making a promise he could not meet! I am unhappy & offended with this level of “reconciliation”. How dare he send me $25 for a $50 meal!?
