Upgrade.Com was founded in 2016 by Renaud Laplanche, Jeff Bogan, Visar Nimani, & Adelina Grozdanova. The company operates a neobank that offers credit and banking products to consumers and delivers fixed-rate credit cards and loans.
Upgrade also offers other services, including credit monitoring and financial education tools for consumers.
In October 2021, Nilson reported that the Upgrade.Com Visa card was the fastest-growing Visa card in the US.
Upgrade has raised $200 million in equity funding since and made over $3 billion in loans since its launch in 2017.
In June 2020, Upgrade received a $1 billion valuation in a Series D equity round led by Santander Group.
Upgrade stated in October of 2021 that the company was introducing a new payment plan that allowed customers to pay for purchases in 4 monthly installments and not be charged any interest or other fees.
