Some stores acquired the Safeway Lifestyle brand. Safeway has since been acquired by Albertson’s in late 2015, but as of this writing, Tom Thumb stores are operating as a subsidiary.

In December 2020, Tom Thumb laid off approximately 97 delivery drivers, stating that its delivery system would become more streamlined.
