The company expanded to Nevada in 1976, Arizona in 1992, South Carolina in 1993, Pennsylvania in 1995, Hawaii in 1996, Kentucky in 1998, New Mexico in 2000, Colorado in 2001, Illinois in 2002, New York in 2004, Maine, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, and Vermont in 2005, Alabama in 2006, Delaware, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and Washington in 2008, and Indiana in 2010.
Today Southern Wine & Spirits is the largest distributor of wine and spirits in the United States. The company offers 5,000 brands and serves more than 200,000 customers in 35 states.

In July 2022, the company announced that it had raised $300,000 for the Children of Restaurant Employees charity group.
