Randolph Engineering was founded in 1972 in Randolph, Massachusetts, by Jan Waszkiewicz and Stanley Zaleski. Waszkiewicz was a Polish immigrant who previously worked for the American Optical Company. Convinced that he could make better eyeglasses and sunglasses, he and Zaleski formed their own company.
The company had their first government contract in 1977 and today is the primary contractor for eyeglasses and sunglasses for the US Department of Defense. The company also sells fashion eyeglasses at their eCommerce site as well as more than 400 retailers around the world. The company also makes job specific eyewear for law enforcement, shooting, security personnel, and other outdoor sports.
Randolph Engineering’s current contract with the Department of Defense alone is an estimated $38.6 million. All company products are still made in Randolph, Massachusetts.
