Most of the company’s growth in the 1980’s-1990’s came from acquisitions, such as Giant Open Air Markets in 1986 and Lou Smith Markets in 1990. The company is best known for having one stop shopping, including in-store pharmacies, bakeries, and deli departments. The company also offers a beer, wine, and spirit loyalty card.
Farm Fresh Supermarkets operates as a subsidiary of SuperValu, who acquired the company in 1999. Headquarters are still located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
