Bakers Square was founded in 1969 in Des Moine, Iowa. Originally named Mrs. C’s, the company became famous for its pies. The company was renamed Bakers Square in 1983.
Today, Bakers Square is a subsidiary of American Blue Ribbon Holdings, LLC. The company has 46 locations, mostly in the upper Midwest. While there was once more than 90 locations in California alone, the decline in the economy in the early 2000’s caused many restaurants to close.
The company still features pies and is direct competition with other pie making restaurants, including Marie Callenders and Coco’s. This restaurant chain offers a casual dining experience and serves American cuisine, including hamburgers, chicken, salads, French fries, steaks, and full breakfasts.
Bakers Square has begun expansion efforts once again, with a new location opening in 2011 in Woodridge, Illinois.
