Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) was a multinational corporation that provides IT services and professional services.

CSC was founded by Roy Nutt, Fletcher Jones, and Robert Patrick in 1959 to provide programming tools such as assemblers and compilers.

By 1963 the company had become the largest software company in the U.S. The same year CSC went public on the American Stock Exchange.

By 1968 CSC had moved to the New York Stock Exchange and had expanded internationally to Canada, India, the U.K., Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, and the Netherlands.

Today Computer Sciences Corporation is one of the world’s leading providers of systems integration and other IT services. Services include application development, data center management, communications, IT systems management, networking development, and business consulting.

CSC is a major government and defense contractor.

Computer Sciences Corporation trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CSC, is #176 on the Fortune 500, is a member of the S&P 500, has 79,000 employees, and had $13 billion in revenue in 2013.

On April 3, 2017, it merged with the Enterprise Services line of business of HP Enterprise and formed DXC Technology.  

DXC Technology maintains a corporate office in McLean, Virginia.

Intuit Corporate Office

Intuit Inc. is a software company that develops financial and tax preparation software for businesses, individuals, and accountants.

Intuit was founded by Scott Cook and Tom Proulx in 1983 when the pair realized that computers would replace traditional pen-and-paper based accounting. The result was Quicken.

By 1988 Quicken was a best-seller in its market, but the company did not experience success until the early 1990’s after the advent of Windows 3.0.

In 1993 the company went public, trading on the NASDAQ under the symbol INTU.

Intuit used the proceeds from the IPO to buy the tax-preparation software company Chipsoft.  This led to the development of TurboTax.

In addition to Quickbooks and TurboTax, Intuit also offers GoPayment mobile payment processing, Lacerte, ProSeries, and Intuit Tax Online professional tax products and services.

Intuit is a member of the S&P 500, is #558 on the Fortune 1000, has 9,400 employees, and had $6.784 billion in revenue in 2019.

In November 2020, Credit Karma was acquired by Intuit after receiving approval from the DOJ.  

In December 2020, the company announced that it was launching a fully-assisted tax prep service to work with TurboTax.

The company maintains a corporate office in Mountain View, California.

Two years later in 1984 it became clear that the product the company was developing would not work. This left Symantec with expertise but no viable product. At this juncture the company was bought by C&E Software. The new company retained the name Symantec.

Symantec developed Q&A, a database and word processing software program for IBM-compatible computers that is cited as a significant step toward making computers less intimidating and more user friendly.

Revenues from Q&A allowed the company to grow and expand. In 1993 Symantec acquired ACT!, in 2004 Veritas, and in 2010 Verisign’s authentication business unit, among others.

Today Symantec provides security, storage, and systems management software for businesses and consumers. The company’s applications include such functions as virus control, data backup, PC maintenance, intrusion detection, content filtering, and remote server management.

Symantec’s products include the Norton family of security software, including Norton Antivirus, McAfee, Panda Security, BitDefender, Sophos, and Trend Micro, among others.

Symantec has 21,500 employees and had $6.73 billion in revenue in 2012.

Ingram Micro Corporate Office

Ingram Micro was formed when Ingram Computer and Micro D merged in 1989.

Ingram Computer has its origin in the 1982 founding of Software Distribution Services in New York. Ingram Distribution Group acquired them in 1985 and renamed the company Ingram Software. Their name was changed to Ingram Computer in 1988.

Husband and wife team Geza Czige and Lorraine Mecca founded Micro D as an information technology distributor in 1979. They went public in 1983.

In 1996 the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker IM.

Throughout the 1990s Ingram Micro expanded globally through strategic acquisitions. They became the world’s largest distributor in 1998.

Today Ingram Micro is the world’s largest wholesale technology distributor and a leader in IT supply-chain, mobile device lifecycle services, and logistic solutions. They are a link in the technology value chain, creating sales and profit opportunities for vendors and resellers. Ingram Micro does business in 37 countries and has over 15,000 employees worldwide. Their revenue for 2012 was $35.6 billion.
