Shane’s Rib Shack was founded in 2002 in McDonough, Georgia, by current CEO Shane Thompson and his wife, Stacy. The original location literally was a wood shack with a tin roof, complete with the outhouse in the back. The company serves barbeque chicken, ribs, and pork, using a barbeque sauce recipe which came from Shane’s grandfather.
The company began franchising in 2005. As of 2016, Shane’s Rib Shack has 74 locations in 10 states. The company frequently sponsors giveaways as a means of giving back to the community, such as free baby back ribs to the first 100 customers in April of 2016.
In March 2021, a customer appreciation program paid off for a Columbia, Georgia, woman who was the winner of $25,000.
Shane’s Rib Shack also offers their barbeque sauce for sale, as well hats, T-shirts, and coffee mugs with the company logo on them.

My wife and I stopped in the Gastonia, NC location for lunch today to get the weekend special of a pork BBQ plate for $7. I looked on-line to discover that it comes with two sides and Texas toast. Upon arrival, I placed my dine in order of the BBQ plate and indicated that I wanted baked beans and peach cobbler as my sides. The cashier indicated that I could not get the peach cobbler as a side. I pointed out that it was the same price ($2.99) as the sides, but she was adamant that I could not substitute. So, we left and went elsewhere for lunch. I cannot understand why they would turn away two customers’ revenue for what was $0 impact to the restaurant. I can say that I will not be rushing back for another visit any time soon.

I was an employee at Shane’s Rib Shack in the Gastonia, NC location for a few months. In Feb. of 2023 I broke my foot and was unable to walk. At first I was allowed to come into work and sit down at the register since I couldn’t walk. After a few weeks, my managers started treating me differently and getting annoyed with me because I couldn’t walk. Finally, I heard from a coworker that one of my managers made a comment about me not working there anymore. I was totally clueless about it because to my knowledge, no one had fired me and I definitely didn’t put in my resignation. I tried to get in touch with all of my managers and they either didn’t respond to me or said they didn’t know what I was talking about. I finally got in touch with the owner of the location and he told me he held a team meeting with the managers a couple days prior and they came to the conclusion that it was “for the best for everyone” that I was to be let go and they just “move on”. I wouldn’t have known about my termination if I didn’t get in touch with the owner, and I feel as if it was very unfair to me because it wasn’t my fault that I couldn’t walk. I had a good run as an employee there, but nearing the time they fired me I was treated unfairly and the management and owner were very rude to me.

We regularly eat at Shanes. The restaurants in Perry and Milledgeville are wonderful, but we are regularly in Macon and would like to continue to eat there. But it is filthy, not well maintained, and the chosen music is disgusting compared to other Shanes. The clientele is also going down rapidly because of the kind of place it has become. When we go there, we don’t see many dine-in customers. Tired of typing, call me for more details at 478-986-XXXX.

First timer to the Senoia Road Shane’s in Fairburn, GA. I ordered online which went very well. Was given a “will be ready” time and arrived at that time to pick up the order. I waited 10 minutes in a line and was unapologetically told the order was not ready. 50 minutes later my order was ready, again no apology for the almost hour wait when I had been given a ready time. To top things off, both Shaniac burgers were burnt. It would have been a 40 minute round trip to take them back which would have taken a total of 3 hours of my Friday night to get carry out from Shane’s. Bad business Shane. I gave a good tip online when I paid, to show support for those willing to work these days. Now I wish I hadn’t as the people who received it were unapologetic for wasting my family time.

I am disgusted with the Grovetown, GA location of Shane’s Rib Shack. This is the third time that I have had an order messed up. Apparently the employees are either not capable of taking an order there correctly or they do not know the items on the menu and the difference in some items. I have ordered the 1/2 chicken BBQ plate on three different occasions. Each time I have gotten “CHOPPED BBQ chicken. I cannot stand the chopped chicken. I would not even want it if they gave it to me free. WHAT IS SO HARD TO DISCERN BETWEEN 1/2 CHICKEN AND CHOPPED CHICKEN. I was getting home from a trip today, and I called my order in. I picked it up (without checking it. I should have known better I guess. Anyway got order, unlocked the car, and finally got to sit down to eat around 9:30. Well GESS WHAT?????? You got it. I had chopped chicken plate. Well, I said a few choice words as I was really hungry. I had not eaten since early morning. Of course, I could NOT call because they were closed. IF I WANTED CHOPPED BBQ CHICKEN, I WOULD SAY CHOPPED CHICKEN. Maybe the employees should ask if ask if they do not know the difference between “chopped chicken” and “1/2 chicken”. This is the third time Grovetown has messed up with this exact thing. I have ordered from Evans and never had that problem. Grovetown is closer; but I guess if I want my order to be accurate, I should go back to Evans. My order tonight was taken by Ryan. Number at bottom is receipt is 382956446652. Not happy. NOT happy. NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!

I want to know if it’s company policy for a person to not know how much there getting paid manager ( Oscar ) said we will talk about it and do paper work tomorrow. Well tomorrow never got here. They never filled anything out in the store. First day working you work 6 and 1/2 hours and not get a break that’s not right. Second day working you ask for a break the manager let’s you take one and then tell you to get and come back and then you send them home. To me it’s seems like the manager got mad because they asked for a break. Third day working they get send home early then the manager tells them that they have to go in Thursday morning the employee explains to them that there availability for that day is after 5. The manager said well were done here bro. How can you fire somebody when you hired them knowing there availability. My family have been in this Shane’s plenty of time’s before and after the way they treated this employee we will never go back to another Shane”s again.

Last night I called in an order to the new location in Spartanburg, SC. Hubby and myself have eaten there many times. After last night we will NEVER go back. Which saddens us both.
I called the order in. Employee taking order was short and rude, didn’t verify the order, didn’t tell me when it would be ready or the total. When my husband and brother got there the order wasn’t ready. They were immediately given attitutde and it went down hill from there. And to top it off after an hour wait the manager refused to give a refund! That store needs an entire staff replacement. From top dog to the the one washing the toilets! I’ve worked in customer service my entire life in one way or the other, including food service. Had I ever treated a customer as poorly as we were, I would have been fired. Even if there is a complete staff overhaul, I would be hard pressed to ever go back. Corporate heed my words! This store will not flourish as expected with that staff! And we want our money back!

So my daughter was employeed by Shane’s in Perry, GA that has just recently opened to come home after working 3 days to say that she been dismissed for a unknown reason. After hearing from her the events that had taken place at work that evening I contacted the manager. Tytianna answered the phone and I said Hi Tytianna, how are you may I speak with your manager please, I was greeted with a who is this… I asked again to speak with the manger, finally the manger Lauren came to the phone and I told her who I was the mother of the child that had just been dismissed from employment and I was calling to find out what happen and what was her reason for dismissal. After rambling for several minutes I asked again what was the reason for dismissal still didn’t get a direct answer. I was told my daughter was late but she had called prior to her shift beginning to ask if would be okay and she was told that it was because it was to many girls there at the time to just come an hour later and then there was an incident with the trash being emptied and the floor having to be mopped afterwards and the smell from the bucket was awful. My daughter was cursed at by the manager Lauren repeatedly about the $@*& stinks. How unprofessional is that? I didn’t know you were suppose to curse the employees. After the bucket was replaced, my daughter was told she couldn’t have replaced the water and mop that fast. Needless to say the conversation didn’t go that well and I had asked for the District/General Manger name and number. I was given his name John Blount and told he would be at the store the following day at 11 a.m. and I asked if she would let him know that I would be there and she hung up the phone without an answer. The following day I visited the store around 1:40 p.m. and asker for Mr. Blount and the manager Lauren told me that he was busy and that I would have to come back I advised her that I would wait. After waiting for over an our hour, Mr. Blount finally came out and took me in the back and I explained to him I was there concerning my daughter and wanting to know why was she dismissed. He gave me this explanation of she just wasn’t a good fit and that she didn’t seem like she wanted to work when she was at work. I asked how could she want to be at work if she wasn’t be put on the schedule to work. The fron’t end girls didn’t have a schedule and would have to call daily and my daughter has only worked three times including the day of dismissal. I learned through my chat with Mr. Blount that the story had been completed turned around on me and my daughter that my daughter had yelled at Lauren although she said she hadn’t that she had remained professional with her after being cursed and yelled at. That I had also yelled at Lauren when I had spoken with her the day before which is completely not true. My daughter reported to work at 6:30 p.m. and the mop bucket or water was supposedly smelling like $*&% would tell me that the water had to have been sitting there all day unchanged. I was informed by an employee there that the back of the house is suppose to change out the water, buckets and mops. I also found out that the back of the house manger is also the district/general manger Mr. Blount who is the boyfriend of the front end manager Lauren in the same store. I didn’t know that you could date in the direct chain of command and work in the same location. The employees don’t stand a chance there. I also didn’t know that it was okay to curse at an employee and be unprofessional and nothing be done about it because you’re dating the boss. I asked for the number to cooperate after several minutes of fumble and bumble with computers and phones I was finally given a number to someone that I’m not even sure works at the cooperate office because it was a cell phone number. My daughter was dissmissed basically because of a dirty mop bucket that should have been taken care of long before she reported to work at 6:30 p.m. hours before the store was closing. So I’m wondering if I’ll be contacted about this matter or will it just be swept under the rug…
