Terry Bader decided that he had had enough of paying outrageous prices for security systems and cameras that didn’t even give him a full view of the area! Guardzilla was founded in 2014.

The company designs and sells a variety of cameras and wireless systems that operate using a cell phone app. This means that customers only pay for the camera and there are no monthly charges.

Consumer Reports noted in October 2019 that many security cameras, such as Guardzilla’s come with security risks since they may be hacked.

The Better Business Bureau states that it appears Guardzilla is out of business since mail is being returned and there is no working phone number.

Originally, the company used peer-to-peer technology for a VOIP phone system, which worked via the Ooma Hub and connected to other Ooma clients landline phones. This system was discontinued in 2008, with Ooma phones now strictly using the internet for phone service.

In November 2012, the company released a new handset which included one-touch voicemail, intercom service, as well as a baby monitor.

In June 2014, the company gave every person in West Valley City, Utah, free VOIP service for those with fiber optic systems. In 2015, the company was named one of the fastest growing companies in the San Francisco Business Times.

Ooma 2  Today, Butterfleye is the security division of Ooma. The company offers a series of wireless streaming cameras, door and window sensors, along with audio, which recognizes sounds such as breaking glass or crying and notifies users. The company also offers water sensors, motions sensors and garage door sensors.

Bullet Blocker was founded in 2007 by former Sheriff’s Deputy and serviceman Joe Curran in Lowell, Massachusetts. The company makes bullet proof vests, jackets, and other items.

After Columbine, Curran wanted to somehow protect his children at school. He began by cutting up bullet proof vests and fitting them into his children’s backpacks. Soon he was making these backpacks for family members and friends. Today, Bullet Blocker makes a vareity of products, all designed to help people and children feel more safe when away from home.

The company makes briefcases, backpacks, carry on bags, vests, purses, jackets, compression vests, as well as a wide variety of clothing. Company headquarters are currently located in Lowell, Massachusetts. Bullet Blocker began with just Curran, but today employs approximately 10 persons. In 2015, the company expanded to a new 7,000 square foot facility to meet increasing demand.

Ring has become one of the most popular home security options in just 5 years, raising more than $61.2 million in crowd funding.
