Gennaro and Carmela Sbarro opened an Italian grocery store named Salumeria in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York in 1956.
The Sbarro family opened more locations throughout New York City, and in 1970 the family opened their first restaurant.
From 1970 to 2007 Sbarro opened over 1,000 locations in 44 countries.
In 2007 Sbarro was acquired by MidOcean Partners, a private equity firm.
Today Sbarro restaurants are located in department stores, shopping malls, airports, service areas, cinemas, and college campuses.
The company operates about half of those locations, with the remaining half operated by franchisees.
In April 2022, it was reported that despite the war in Ukraine, some companies such as Hard Rock Cafe and Sbarro were still doing business in Russia.
In January 2023, it was announced that despite the pandemic, Sbarro opened a record number of restaurants in 2022.
Sbarro maintains a corporate office in Columbus, Ohio.

Today, Saturday April 23rd I went to the Dover Mall in Dover Delaware. Went to order a large cheese pizza only to told that 7:15 was too late to order a full pizza and that they didn’t make pizza in the last hour. I believe this is a crock of sh*t and not policy but rather lazy employees not wanting to god forbid do their job. I’ve worked at a pizza place in my teen years.. I know how easy it is to make a pizza. Why won’t they make a pizza in the last hour? I could buy the last 15 minutes… but the last hour? That’s garbage.

Our Sbarro is great and so are the staff. My problem is with the survey. I filled out everything except taking a picture of my recipt. I do not know how to do that and could not get my code for the $2 off. This survey is very different from the one I use to do, no pictures needed with that survey. I gave the date, and the store number. Hard to give the time as it would not let me except to pick from a limited time shown…..

I was at the Columbia Mall in Kennewick WA at 5:24 pm. I asked for spaghetti and meatballs. The noodle pan was empty, the salad was empty and there was only two halves of a pizza in the window. I was told we are not serving any more spaghetti today. I asked why not, you have a full pan of meatballs and sauce. I was told to speak to the manager. Though she was cordial she said that they didn’t have anymore spaghetti and they were not sent any on their food order so there is nothing she could do. I explained as a manager it was her responsibility to ensure the items on the menu were available even if she had to go to the store and buy spaghetti pasta to cook. How could this establishment stay in business if at the dinner hour everything is empty? It is unfortunate I was not made to feel like a valued customer

Good morning,
I would like to make a formal complaint against employee at Foxwoods Casino in Foxwoods Connecticut. I’m outraged at employee Jean on Tuesday August 7, 2018. My godmother Pauline Latson age 80 and I stopped by Sbarro before heading to our room for the evening as we approached the counter employee Jean and another employee was talking and I saw Jean digging in his nose literally all in his nose. As Jean asked me what did I want, I replied are you going to wash your hands he said to me “get the f**k out of here”. I said “excuse me”, he repeated it three times and I called security and security called management and management supposedly sent email to corporate. Jean was so disrespectful and I’m still outraged. Please help me with this matter. I can be reached at 617-504-XXXXX for additional information.
Respectfully,
Clara Robinson

I would like to compliment and thank again, Abraham, from Lake Forest in Gaithersburg, Maryland for his honesty. I left my 3 day old, $1300 computer on the counter by the resister as I helped my grandchildren carry their food. After about 10-15 minutes I missed my computer. Frantically searching the immediate area I rn to the pizza counter and asked if they had found it. They immediately assured me they had and it was locked in their safe!!
The behavior I observed of the clientele of the mall food court, and the attitude of some of the workers, led me to believe I would never see it again. I was thrilled my grandchildren had chosen Sabarro after my encounter with Abraham. I hope you have some way of honoring employees like Abraham. He certainly made my day and my holiday season. Thank you very much.

Discrimination at its finest, Myself and a co worker went to the Sbarro location at North Lake mall in Charlotte NC and were the 3rd and fourth person in line. the gentleman behind the counter took and prepared our orders and when it was time to pay the girl at the register said how were you planning to pay for that. We told her credit and she said the system is down I cant take it. I then tried to pay with cash as the 2 ladies in from of me did with the system down and she refused to take my money. I had money in my hand and the food had already been handed to me and just waited. There was a woman behind us that then went in front of us and the lady at the register ( Angelina ) was taking her cash as we were leaving. When I went back to ask why they even took our order and wasted my lunch time and why she couldn’t take our cash she became rude with me and my co worker. Oh did I forget to mention that the 2 ladies in from of us were African American and the lady behind us was also. I guess myself and my Caucasian coworker are not the clientele that Sbarrows wants. We have a local news channel here in Charlotte that I believe may be interested in the level of discrimination coming from your establishment. And thank you for ensuring that myself and my co worker didn’t get to eat lunch today due to the wasted time we spent waiting for the food to be prepared that we weren’t allowed to purchase…I personally am disgusted with this level of ignorance, bad service and discrimination.

This is a discrimination complaint. Please contact me via email.
Visited the Westfield mall located in Culver city, CA. On 11/9/17 at 5:15pm stood in line for about 15min. I ordered a pepperoni slice to go. There was Hispanic customers in front of me with their order. The lady asked again for here or to go, I replied to go. She took the pizza out of the oven and placed it in a to go box, I reached for it but she never handed it to me.
So, she proceeded to take the orders of everyone else behind me in line. She gave every customer in line their order except for me. I got her attention and asked for my pizza she was rude and said it’s in the oven.
I’m next in line and she comes to hand me the box that was sitting behind the counter. Mind you, she gave everyone their order in front of me and behind me.
I proceeded to ask the manager why did give everyone their order except for me, he decided he didn’t understand English. So I apologize to the lady behind me for holding up the line and she noticed and understood.
I’m telling my story because I was the ONLY Black person in line, EVERY customer in front of me and behind me was Hispanic and the WHOLE was Hispanic.
Whomever read this complaint or whomever is responsible for responding to this complaint please contact me in a timely manner i would like file a former complaint or I will take this to the next level. Also, I will give you the names of the staff once you have contacted me via email.

All the items in the display case was burnt. Staff was still serving the burnt pizza and other burnt items. I asked for a Pizza Pie and told the cashier that I did not want mu crust burnt like the pizza in the display case and I pointed it out honestly to bring attention to the fact that they was selling burnt pizza and stromboli. He said okay it will be 25 minutes. About 15 min later I walked to tge counter because I saw the guy opening the oven just so I could reming them not to burn it. The guy says can I help you I said no I am just waiting on my pie he say oh its ready and hands me this box from on top of the oven. I opened it and the first thibg I noticed was that the crust was perfect then I look at the pizza and could tell it was raw. I said this pizza is raw he says I thought that was how you wanted it. I said I askes the guy to please not burn my pizza like the ones in the case but I want my pizza cooked. So he takes the pizza back and he struggles to get this raw already sliced pizza back on the tray to put back in the oven. Finally he takes it out one slice at a time. I could see that some of them had holes in it from the dough not forming. He puts it in the oven then I start watching him make other pizza’s. No gloves whatsoever which may be allowed but the problem is the lad working the register did not know what sge was doing and kept calling the man to the register for help he came up to the register punched a few buttons walked to the wall and pressed a button then started putting pepperoni on a pizza. He had to stop numerous times he even put cash in the register once. You talk about germs and Hep A which we all know is spread by food preparers that dont wash their hands. Once he took the pizza out he realized it was terrible looking. He was nice and gave me the pizza and gave me my money back. This restaurant is tarnishing the reputation of Sbarro I have been a customer since my mother used to bring us to the one on 42nd street in manhatten 30 yrs ago. I can tell you I will never go to this restaurant again in KY and will hesitate to visit one in the mall again. If you could see just the overall show going in in this restaurant you would be ashamed.

I was just at your springfield Pa store located in the Springfield Mall. I had a coupon valid until December 2017, they would not accept it stating that they no longer honor the coupons. So I guess they would rather throw the food in the trash then honor a valid coupon.

I frequently visit your location at the Barnes Crossing mall in Tupelo Mississippi and it seems to have gone down hill severely in the last couple of months. I have spoken to the new manager Teressa Hardy Maniscalco and she’s very rude and never puts gloves on to serve the pizza or the spaghetti. There’s also a very nasty smell comming from the restaurant that smells like a dead animal. I approached the manager the first time I asked her why she was not wearing them and she gave me a dirty look and said theres no law stated she needed to. Some of the part time employees state the manager does not allow them to count their draw down at the end of shift and it’s always off by large amounts and she refuses them breaks. I no longer eat here because of the smell and rudeness of the manager.

springfield Sparro store #749, Asked how long a whole pepperoni pizza would be,told 20 minutes, siad you have to pay first which I did $18.01.Time on receipt 7:23 P.M. Cashier very courteous, but the girl behind the counter had a smirky attitude. Just had a funny feeling she was somehow going to hold up my order. Told them I would be back as I was ,going to move my car to lower level so I wouldn’t have to walk pizza through mall. Cashier who waited on me seem to be doing all the work, wiping counter, emptying trash. My pizza was not even made until 7:45. This is a huge oven, when I questioned was told by pizza maker they were very busy. This was not the truth. I did not get my pizza till 8p.m. If they were so busy why did I see the manager leave at 7:45.

From what I have seen at the Sbarro pizza places like Ala Moana Ctr.on Oahu there is a lot of sexual conduct going on such as grabbing asses and with no camera’s to keep employee’s in order,it is a lawsuit just waiting to happen.I seen it and I don’t like it and I don’t even work there.

My husband and I tryed to order a pizza to go today . The person working there wasn’t even behind the counter, she was sitting on a bench out in tne mall . When she noticed us she came over took order , had to pay first , she said 15 mins . We walked down the mall for a few mins .came back she was waiting on about 7 people getting1 slice , our pizza was sitting on the counter half finished .she continued serving this people plus more that walked up for a drink . I went over and told her I wanted my money back , she was rude and told me that she had told me 15 mins “at that point had been 22 mins “and I would have to wait for my money until she finished with those other people . I did another 6 mins . When she gave me my money I ask her who was the manager , she said I was looking at her .I told her fine everyone has a boss , her name was Kelly . The store is the mall in Shawnee Oklahoma. We use to get a pizza several times a month . But will never go there again .
