Max and Erma’s Corporate Office

Max and Erma’s was founded in 1972 in Columbus, Ohio, by two businessmen, Todd Barnum and Barry Zacks, who purchased a tavern called Max and Erma’s. They converted the tavern into a restaurant and decided to leave the name the way it was.

The company operates a chain of casual dining restaurants, each with its own theme. Max and Erma’s was acquired by equity investor G&R Acquisitions of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for $10.2 million in 2008. The company has 51 locations, all company owned.

The chain filed for bankruptcy in 2009, after which it was acquired by American Blue Ribbon Holdings, who also own Baker’s Square and Village Inn. In January of 2016, Glacier Restaurant Group acquired the company.

Max and Erma’s has closed several locations in 2020 and sold all items inside via auction to the highest bidder.

Buffalo Wings and Rings was founded in1984 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company operates a chain of casual sports bar alternative restaurants, where sports can be seen, but in a family friendly atmosphere.

The company was purchased in 2005 by Philip Schram, Nader Masadeh and Haytham David, who streamlined operations and installed a more uniform system of management. In October 2021, the company announced that it was going to rebrand itself as Wings and Rings, minus the Buffalo.

Also in October 2021, the company stated that it would expand its presence in Mexico, adding 11 more locations.

Eat My Catfish was founded by current CEO and owner Travis Hester in 2008. Hester began selling catfish out of a food truck he parked on Military Road in Benton, Arkasas. On his first day, he ran out of fish in just one hour.

Today, Eat My Catfish has three restaurant locations in Arkansas. The company added crawfish to the menu the following year. This item has since become the best selling food item at the restaurant chains. Hester states that no other restaurant in Arkansas sells crawfish, making his business unique.

In addition to the restaurants, the company also has two food trucks specializing in catering events. As of 2016, the company has catered more than 350 events in and around Arkansas.

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs Corporate Office

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs was founded in1916 when Nathan Handwerker opened up a 5-cent hot dog stand on Coney Island. Handwerker and his wife used their life savings of $300 to open the stand. The hot dog recipe, which is still used today, came from his wife’s grandmother. The original hot dog stand is still in operation.

The company operates a chain of restaurants whose main selling item are hot dogs. The company went public on the NASDAQ in 1968 and can be found under the ticker symbol: NATH. All locations were sold to a private investor in 1987. Franchising took on a greater role in the company after this acquisition.

Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs features a hot dog eating contest at the original site every summer. Joey Chestnut was the winner in 2016, consuming 59 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

After being suspended in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the contest has returned and will occur on July 4th, 2021. 

In June 2021, the company announced that it would offer Arthur Treacher’s fish meals at all locations.  

In April 2023, Nathan’s announced that hot dog lovers in New Jersey can now get Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs at all Burger Express locations.
