Pet City was founded in 1974 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The company operates a small chain of pet and pet supply stores in Colorado.
The company has three locations; one in the Chapel Hills Mall, one in the Citadel Mall, and one in the Aurora Town Center. The company sells pet foods, supplies, housing, and a variety of pets, including puppies, kittens, birds, and fish. All puppies and kittens are sold with a health guarantee, as well as being microchipped. A list of vaccinations and worming is provided.
In May of 2017, a man complained that he thought he had obtained financing through Wags Lending to purchase a puppy from Pet City. He later discovered that his $2,400 “loan” was actually just a lease with an option to buy. Pet City states that the terms of the lease were explained at the time of sale, however, Mr. Brian Stevens says this was not the case.

I would like to have corporate contact me for the disgusting nature of their store in the citadel mall.

My grand daughter has saved and worked very hard for her $5,000.00 to purchase her puppy that she has looked years for. On Saturday, she paid for her puppy and this is Tuesday and they still have not released her puppy to her for reasons not released to her. The puppy is said to have diarrhea but the owner of the store admittedly keeps changing the puppies food to encourage the puppy to eat. How does this make any sense? Who do we call?

My daughter bought an Australian Shephard from the Fort Collins, CO store and the associate assured her that it was not a Miniature. For two months my daughter and her vet were concerned about the puppies weight gain (or lack thereof), but luckily she was healthy otherwise. Now, two months after the purchase, the puppy’s AKC papers were received in the mail and she is in fact a Miniature and bred as such. The store manager is now telling my daughter that they (the store) decided to advertise her as a full size Australian Shephard because they (the store) thought she was a little larger than typical miniatures. This is false advertising and the store is not offering any “adjustment” or sincere apology… other than the ability to return the dog. How do you return a dog that you have already bonded to and fallen in love with? The issue is not the dog, but the fact that the staff/management intentionally misled customers to make a sale and they are OK with that!

It is a shame and sad thing to come into your store and show the way that the pets are being treated. Upon numerous times visiting this location I have personally watched and confronted your staff for being abusive to the pets. Do you think you would like to be tossed around or had doors shut hard against your body or to be slapped on the nose or face? I think not. Corporate will definitely be contacted again and again and note that this is animal cruelty and those guilty will be having charges pressed against them. You should be ashamed of your behavior.
