Soviet immigrant Mariya Nurislamova loved perfume and other scents since she was a child. She founded ScentBird, which she describes as “Netflix for scent lovers” in 2013, and is the current CEO.

Clients fill out a questionnaire that helps to pinpoint scents they may enjoy. Each monthly box is $15 and is designed to have enough perfume to enjoy for one month. This allows clients to find out if they really love a particular scent before spending $75 on a large bottle.

The company currently only offers women’s fragrances but is considering adding men’s fragrances to their line up. The company did add a skin-care subscription service in February 2019.

In December 2020, Medical News Today listed Sun Basket as one of the best organic meal delivery services.

The global meal kit market is expected to explode between late 2020 and 2026.

Supercuts is a franchise chain of hair salons in the US and UK. Founded in 1972 by Geoffrey M. Rappaport and Frank E. Emmett, the company currently has approximately 2400 franchises in the US.

Supercuts is owned by the Regis Corporation. Regis also owns Regis Salons, Mia & Maxx, MasterCuts, Cost Cutters, SmartStyle, and First Choice Haircutters.

Supercuts, along with other hair salons, was forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic of 2020. After being allowed to reopen in some states, the stock of parent company Regis soared in December 2020.

Georgian Gooley had been using men’s razors for decades to avoid paying the “pink tax” that is typically applied to women’s razor and shaving products.

In 2017, Gooley and friend Jason Bravman decided to join the subscription razor marketplace, but make their company exclusive to women’s products.

Gooley stated in an interview that ” Instead of speaking to women in clichés and making them feel ashamed about their body hair, we wanted to celebrate womankind and reinforce that shaving is a personal choice, not an expectation.”

History

The company operates a subscription razor service where clients can order new razors and shaving products online and receive them as often as they wish (monthly, every quarter, etc.)

Gooley found it strange that most shaving ads show women with no hair. She introduced a marketing campaign called Project Body Hair, where women post real photos of their body hair, whether its a unibrow, underarm hair or wherever hair grows on their body. These pictures are being added to Unsplash, where they can be used by the public.

Procter and Gamble purchased Billie in January 2020 for an undisclosed amount.

The company still maintains a corporate office, at this writing, in New York, New York. It is unknown if the acquisition by Procter and Gamble will change this.
