The company was founded by Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard, former Salomon employees, in 2009, when they sought to design a shoe that allowed them to run downhill faster.

This pair created a model with an oversized outsole that had more cushion than other running shoes at the time. The shoes are named after the Maori language phrase loosely meaning “fly over the earth.”

HOKA was purchased on April 1, 2013 by Deckers Brands, the parent company for UGG, Teva, and other footwear brands.

History

Hoka One One has come out with so many different models that choosing the right shoe for running or other sports can be difficult.

In December 2021, Hoka One One decided to drop the “One One” part of its name and go by plain Hoka.

While the company is best known for its running shoes, it also makes shoes specifically for walking.

The company makes fresh smoothies and fruit or vegetable juices.

The menu was overhauled in 2017 and in 2018, the company introduced an app for preorders online.

History

The online site 1851 Franchising recommended Robeks as a franchise worthy of investing in April 2022.

Robeks stated that it was adding 10 new locations in the greater Los Angeles and San Diego areas in August 2021, despite the coronavirus.

Gift cards for Robeks are sold through Costco locations.

Luber had previously founded StockX’s predecessor website about rare sneakers called Campless (established during 2012–2013. The company relocated from Philadelphia to Detroit, Michigan in 2016. StockX opened its first international headquarters in London in October 2018.

StockX is an online marketplace and clothing reseller, primarily of sneakers. Since November 2020, it has also opened up to electronic products, such as game consoles, smartphones, and computer hardware.

History

WWD states that men are the primary buyers of previously owned sneakers.

StockX maintains that all its products are rigorously checked for authenticity since fakes are abundant.

Nike’s NFT sneakers are currently the most expensive shoes, clocking in at $100K.

In 2020, the company began selling trading cards, making them popular once again.

In June 2019, StockX raised $110 million and was valued at $1 billion in another venture round.

Annie’s HomeGrown was founded in 1989 by Annie Withey and Andrew Martin. The pair originally planned to sell only natural macaroni and cheese, but the demand for other food products caused them to substantially increase their product line up.

In 1999, John Foraker, an owner of Homegrown Natural Foods, which made flavored olive oils and different varieties of mustard, and his company invested $2 million in Annie’s.

An agreement was reached that would buy out Withey and Martin’s shares in the company and make Annie’s a private company. Withey became Annie’s “inspirational president”, and the company began distributing its products to supermarket chains like Costco, Kroger, and Safeway.

History

In 2012, the company created an organic frozen pizza that was sold exclusively at Whole Foods Supermarkets.

In 2014, General Mills acquired Annie’s for $820 million.

Developed by parent company FlowPlay, a Seattle, Washington,-based game company started by former Real Networks General Manager Derrick Morton in 2006, Vegas World is a social casino, free-to-play MMORPG (massive multiplayer online roleplaying game).

This means that clients can choose an avatar and after playing casino games, go to the club and dance or take a dip in the virtual swimming pool.

In addition to Vegas World, which operates on Facebook, Android, iOS, and the web, FlowPlay also runs a game called ourWorld. This is the company’s franchise title and is similar to Vegas World but without the casino aspect.

History

While Facebook is touting the Metaverse as something “new”, it’s actually been around a long time, according to FlowPlay.

In December 2021, FlowPlay was acquired by Wind Creek Hospitality. Details and the price were not disclosed.

FlowPlay currently maintains a corporate office in Seattle, Washington.
