Treehouse Foods was created when Dean Specialty Foods was spun-off from Dean Foods in 2005.

The company quickly grew by acquisition, notably the soup division of Del Monte Foods Company, San Antonio Farm’s salsa and picante business, and S.T. Specialty Foods.

Today Treehouse Foods is the #1 manufacturer of non-dairy powdered creamer, Cremora, Farman’s, Nalley’s Peter Piper, and Steinfeld pickles, private-label soups, salad dressings, Mexican sauces, macaroni and cheese, jams, skillet dinners, hot cereals, and drink mixes.

ArcBest Corporation was founded in 1935 as Arkansas Best Corporation, a local freight hauler.

Today the company specializes in long-haul, LTL – less-than-truckload shipments. LTL freight is when businesses send smaller shipments, which are then combined with other business’ freight to make enough to make a truckload. This reduces cost for the business.

Subsidiary ABF Freight Systems operates a fleet of 3,700 tractors and 20,000 trailers, does business through 270 terminals in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, and is responsible for 75% of ArcBest Corporation’s total business.

History

The company serviced subprime mortgage loans until the real estate bust of 2008.

In 2010 Fortress Investment Group acquired 80% of the company and changed its name to Springleaf Financial Services, turning the company into a consumer finance company that provides personal loans to high-risk customers. Springleaf operates through 835 branches in 26 states.

In late 2016, SpringLeaf Financial acquired OneMain Financial, more than doubling its size. The company has decided to retain the OneMain Financial name and is gradually rebranding all locations to the OneMain name.
