History

Today the company produces copper and aluminum it then uses to make tubes and fittings, forgings, extrusions, pipes, bars and rods, and valves. Mueller Industries also resells products, from brass and plastic plumbing valves to faucets. The company has operations in the United States, Mexico, and China.

A. Schulman was founded in 1928 by Alex Schulman in Akron, Ohio as a rubber brokerage. The next year the company built its first manufacturing plant, also in Akron.

In 1952 the company first expanded internationally, to Belguim, the U.K., and Germany.
