Offerpad is a start up company that uses data to change how people buy and sell houses. Jerry Coleman, a co-founder of Blackstone’s Invitation Homes, and Brian Bair, a top-selling real estate broker, founded OfferPad in mid-2015. Both serve as co-CEOs of the company.
The company relies on technology to make offers to homeowners, who they believe value the certainty of a sale and the ability to close within days, over getting the highest price. Offerpad purchases homes then resells them for a higher price.
Currently, the number of homes that the company has bought and sold measures in the hundreds, but this pair of businessmen say that they expect the number to be in the hundreds every single day within 5 years. Coleman and Bair originally self-funded the company and expanded it slowly since its initial launch in Arizona. Today, Offerpad operates in six markets; Phoenix, Arizona, Las Vegas, Nevada, Salt Lake City, Utah, Tampa & Orlando, Florida, and Los Angeles, California. The company has plans to go national, with at least 30 cities, by the end of 2020.
The company’s platform has shaken up the traditional real estate process by using technology to eliminate the uncertainty that comes with buying or selling a home. Using OfferPad is simple enough; homeowners visit the website and request a free purchase offer. Usually, within 24 hours, homeowners receive a competitive offer. Once they have accepted the offer, sellers can pick their closing date, and if they are moving locally, the company will move them for free.
The company has grown substantially in the past 3 years, forcing them to move to larger quarters in Chandler, Arizona, in March 2019. The exact address has yet to be made public.
Offerpad has headquarters in Gilbert, Arizona and employs approximately 150 persons.

Offerpad entered a contract with us to buy our home. In the initial conversations before the contract it was explicit that the garage for our house was converted to a living space and that our home was in fair condition. Offerpad gave us an offer based on those selections, and then after the inspection came back and told us they would be crediting for the conversion of the garage back into a garage. First this is a gross abuse of the inspection process. Secondly they wanted to take credit for all the small fixes or have us fix it. However, the initial offer is already based on condition so this feels like a double whammy. They would not negotiate at all and left us totally hanging with a house we were buying by asking for $30k in repairs where as offers from flippers were stating that approx $15k-$18k worth of work needed to be done. I feel bait and switched. I feel ripped off .

We don’t appreciate your company’s very low purchase offers as you don’t know anything about our home improvements. Are you intent on restricting our sale income? Your methods as stated by other experienced customers are no better than the hustlers that offer to buy homes for cash at any low-ball amount.
I requested that your rep in my area ((XXXX Tyvola Road, Suite XXXX, Charlotte, NC 28217)) stop sending their flyers to my residence. We are still receiving them. The name that it is addressed to is William and there is no such person living at our address.
Kindly remove our data from your computer system as we will never contrat with OfferPad.
Sincerely,
Mike Jackson
