COO: John Jacobs

Life is Good was founded in 1994 by brothers Bert and John Jacobs in Boston, Massachusetts. The pair started off selling their upbeat message shirts out of their van and at public events, such as parades and county fairs. Business was not doing well, and after inviting some friends to their apartment, a brainstorming session produced the company logo of a smiling face, wearing a beret, and stating that “Life is Good”.  The brothers printed up 48 shirts and sold them all in 1 hour at a street fair.

Today, that slogan and face, eventually named Jake, is now a $100 million dollar a year company with more than 4,500 locations and in more than 30 countries. The company offers more than 900 items in 14 categories, including hats, coffee cups, tote bags, key chains, bumper stickers, and children’s clothing.

Life is Good has also expanded to include a smiling female face, Jackie, and a dog named Rocket. The company is known for its charming quotes, such as a picture of Jake and Rocket playing fetch and the tag line “Stick Together” or “Have a Ball”

Headquarters for Life is Good are located in Hudson, New Hampshire.

Sounds like questionable business practices. I called to cancel, or change an order as I had forgotten to plug in my 25% discount, so I called customer service. The boiler room respondent was “Pedro” somewhere in the Dominican Republic? He said, “don’t worry, everything will be taken care of…” Yeah, nothing was taken care of. They charged me the full amount. I spoke to “Marcus” at customer service. He said it was policy to put the whole order through and give a refund later to my bank when the order ships. What do you want to make a bet he is lying as well? After reading the above accounts I can see I have a long case of unhappiness with this company ahead of me. No problem …I can write a lot of letters if I have to. I am retired. It will become my new craft idea. Perhaps a letter to the Better Business Bureau of Hudson, New Hampshire is in order as well? So many options….

Having a previous letter ignored and any emails sent getting bumped to the customer support team just shows me that Life is Good doesn’t really care what the customer thinks. I am a long time supporter of Life is Good, but you have shortened the sleeves on the women’s Crusher shirts considerably. They are now only about 2 inches and much too short. I have lost faith in your company.

Been trying to get two lawn chairs all summer with no luck, Now October 27th there in stock and the price went from 98.00 each to 195.00 each. trying to get support for my order earlier this year was a mess took three days for you to get back and would not allow a backorder and now we see why a 100% increase. And the shirts I love the shirts well use to they were a heavy cotton and withstand 2 to 3 years of use now there paper thin and are good for a season or two. Life is good… we were great but greed and profits above all else is going to run the company into the ground.

I’m having the same problem as everyone else. Life is Good said it mailed my shirt, but clearly it never left the building. I can’t get in touch with anyone either via email message or phone. What’s going on??? I want my shirt or I want my money back!!!

Cindy, did you ever get through? I have been trying for over a week. Staying on hold for 3 hours only to be disconnected.

I just experienced the same thing…was in the cue for 3 hours, was #1 in line after 3 hours then got hung up on. I previously called and they offer the option of leaving your phone# and they will call you back. Did that 3 different times and never got a call. Then today sat in the cue for 3 hours only to get hung up on. This has been so frustrating! They sent me damaged products too. Unbelievable horrible customer service!?

I just received my order of 7 Crusher tees. I too would like to see the original loose fit/relaxed fix tees to come back. These new ones are alittle sugg around the middle for me. I prefer a more relaxed fix that is not clinging to my waist or tummy. The originals I bought years ago fit me so well. These need to come back for those ladies who like me, carry a little more weight around the middle. I loved the styles and all but may not be buying in the near future due to the more fitted tees. Not all of us have a flat tummy and and tight tees do not flatter us at all.

    Just checked the women’s sale page. There are 101 women’s t-shirts on sale. I looked at 5 shirts: original price $26.00, all Crusher, #47654 $9.99 5 sizes; #48100 $9.99 6 sizes; #48078 $14.99 7 sizes; #52723 $14.99 6 sizes; #48101 $14.99 6 sizes.
There was a Breezy shirt #57558 price $34.00 – $14.99 with all 6 sizes available! On this shirt alone, even if there is only 1 available in each size, it’s a $54.06 loss for charity! You can figure out the rest.
Seems to me you could make some original relaxed fit Crushers with small graphics for what you are losing in shirts that are not selling so hot!
As you can see, I’m extremely frustrated with the company! Life is Good is not a fun company to buy from anymore! Cynthia

Idea! If you don’t want to make the original relaxed fit Crusher T-shirt on a regular basis, would you consider making some of the original ones on a THROW-BACK promotion?? This would give those of us who want them a chance to stock up! Maybe you could pick 25 of your best sellers??? What a great December chance for buying Christmas presents which I have done for years! Thank you for listening! Cynthia

I love Life is Good t- shirts, the original relaxed fit with the small graphic which is no longer made! I keep trying to buy shirts only to encounter a constantly changing shirt! There is no mention of the changes so the package comes and imagine my disappointment to find a smaller sleeve and/or a neckline that is not a crew size! These shirts don’t fit good! So, I have to go through the process of returning them after I’ve spent hours of trying to find shirts that “look like” they haven’t been changed! You can “see” the smaller sleeve in the pictures, and it looks ridiculous! Actually, this is false advertising. I can’t believe how many women’s shirts are on sale, some in all sizes! For every shirt that goes on sale you reduce the amount that supports the children’s charity! I am sooo frustrated! This was the only shirt I’ve bought for years, period! I am one of the older generation who were told we would NOT BE FORGOTTEN! Well we were forgotten as soon as the younger generation took over and discarded the “original relaxed fit small graphic t-shirt”! PLEASE HELP! Cynthia

Love this company, focus & product. If I could design a shirt it would have a prize fighters belt design and it would say: “life is good, that’s why we fight for it.” I’d include a gold ribbon in the center. This year my 4yr old daughter has been battling leukemia. I was in the hospital wearing one of your shirts when I realized this positive point. It would be awesome if Life is Good could partner with our effort to raise awareness & encourage others to keep optimistic about winning. Gold is the color representing childhood cancer, September is the month dedicated to raise awareness. Just a thought. Thank you for the opportunity to share: )
