King and Spalding, frequently called K&S, goes all the way back to 1885 when two lawyers, Alexander King and Jack Spalding, opened their own law office in Atlanta, Georgia.

Common forms that generally need only notary service include DBA’s, copyright, trusts, simple wills, power of attorney, and real estate leases. Forms are available for each state for a small fee, which is far less than an attorney would charge. LegalZoom has received numerous awards, including Business Insider and Fast Company, who both listed LegalZoom as Most Valuable Startup.

LegalZoom went public on the NASDAQ in June 2021 with an initial valuation of $7 billion.  

In August 2021, the company made attempts to change its business structure in Arizona which would allow it to hire attorneys, rather than rely on an independent network of attorneys.
