Land O’Lakes is a member-owned agricultural cooperative which focuses on the dairy industry.
The cooperative was founded in 1921 by representatives of 320 co-op creameries as the Minnesota Cooperative Creameries Association. It was formed to improve the quality and marketing of butter, thus increasing the profitability of dairying.
In 1924 the cooperative named its sweet cream butter Land O’Lakes, a play on the state of Minnesota’s nickname “Land of 10,000 Lakes.”
The butter was so popular that the cooperative’s name was often confused with the name of its product, and so in 1926 the organization adopted the Land O’Lakes name.
Today Land O’Lakes is one of the nation’s largest dairy cooperatives with 4,000 farmer/members and 900 member associations.
The cooperative makes over 300 dairy products from the 12 billion pounds of milk that members supply annually.
Land O’Lakes operates dairy facilities in the United States, doing business in all 50 states and 60 countries worldwide.
Land O’Lakes is #226 in the Fortune 500.

Why are there metal shavings in my honey butter? And what are you going to do about it?

Wrote email before spending lots of time sharing how very much I hate the half sticks of butter that I get in many states up to and including cedar park tx…..a north Austin suburb. I never went through …today I got to speak with the nicest corporate man…he might have mentioned it was his idea for 8 sticks of butter rather then the four normally available…..it does really suck in a butter dish and I mentioned that I can count or even eyeball 4 tablespoons half stick all by myself….even joked that I didn’t need government or manufactures doing my measuring for me….. We even talked about the beaver gland extract that is added as all natural in many of your competitors …..just because HEB sells more cut 8 pack butters it really does not mean people want them. A sad example of computers showing false people’s interests in a product when grocery stores are so far removed from all products and real demands due to computer ruling..let’s say one time that is all they got it would show a great purchase power. And that’s all that is sent and so on and on. I witnessed store fail due to computers…only was new stock sent if there were purchases…..no new purchases due to low stock …so no new stock and so on ….. Let’s not all rely 100 percent on lazy!
