Hi, I and several people who live & shop at your store on 120 in Mchenry have complained to the service dest & the managers about the black woman who works in the deli & also cooks the rotisserie chickens, I’m sorry but I do not know her name. Nothing is done about this woman, She is very rude & her attitude is horrible. When she cooks the chickens they are so overdone & dried out because she just does not care or want to be there. I and several people I know have started going to the fox lake store, at least there the people are nice & friendly. I can not understand why nothing has been done about this person. Tonight I had to stop in at your store on 120 & she was working in the deli cooking the chickens, I got one as soon as it came out, It was horrible way overdone & dried out. When she was putting them out she was tossing/throwing them on the display, I could not believe what I was seeing, We had to give the chicken to our dog & this was not the first or second or third time this has happened. I not the type of person who complains but you have to do something about this person. I’m tired of throwing out food and getting a rotten attitude from your deli dept & nothing is done about it. It looks like Jewel does not care about their custmores anymore

The fact that you thought it was appropriate to identify her as “the black woman” shows how racist you truly are!!! Cook your own chicken at home Lyn!!!
Tricia says
Well if someone is black that would be one description that would help to identify the person. It seems you’re the racist since you assume the previous poster is white. She may be black as well .

Is there any chance you will open a store in Peoria,Illinois anytime soon? I hope so. I love shopping at your store in Bloomington,Illinois but that is a hour away from us. Would love to see you open one here in Peoria, especially since we don’t get to Bloomington much and it is to far to drive every week. I especially like the variety of Atkins products you have especially the frozen and would like to see more and also more of their bars. And my family loves your bakery and you have good meat. Thank You

I have contacted your support team many many times trying for at least 3 months to sign into Just 4 You. Speaking for hours on end with different passwords etc. There are many items I would purchase on the program which is less expensive than normal but NO ONE can help me. I was told today my problem would be escalated and someone would call me in about an hour. That was over 2 hours ago. HOW can I purchase what I want as I will not pay more at Jewel knowing others pay less. I would rather go to another store and pay more if I have to since if seems you do not want me as a patron. Please help now as on 9/10 what I want will no longer be available. Your customer support is non existent. Perhaps you can send an email to me authorizing the store to let me purchase the 6 items at the lower price?

I have gotten hundreds of Monopoly game markers for the current round of the game and haven’t won anything. I’ve wasted hours of my life checking tickets every time the game is offered. Over the years I’ve NEVER won anything. Would it kill you to give a few more small prizes to make it worthwhile?
And the coupons are an insult. 50 cents? And what is with the online ones? More wasted time spent checking those losers. I’m the loser playing this senseless, rigged game. I won’t be playing any more.
Kudos to the few who may have actually won anything.

I loved your Chicken Caesar Salad, however I do not like croutons because there are to many, also you use so much salad dressing until the salad is soggy by the time you get it home. You may want to revise your receipt a tad. Also croutons should be optional.

The Jewel-Osco near me is still using plastic bags and plastic containers for various produce items. In view of the rampant existence of plastic in our environment and even in our bodies, I would expect you to discontinue using plastic. Do you have plans to do this?

I’ve been shopping at the Jewel on 95th n Ashland. The produce is horrible, the bakery is selling expired goods with up to date expirations, tricking the customers. When you take the item home, it’s stale. I’m disabled on a fixed income. I don’t have money to waste. And that’s exactly what I do, waste money when I shop there. My mother worked for Jewel for 22 years, until 1996, this type of horrific nonsense was never a problem. My brother worked for Jewel for 17 years. He restocked those shelves every night. This is a disgrace. You’re making yourselves look bad. Other stores are soaring over you. Get it right or just give up.

I visited my local Jewel March 27, to purchase Corona. The ad indicated $11.99 and 5.00 off fresh made guacamole, a great deal. I noticed beer on the shelf in the liquor dept, cooler & a display in the liquor dept & there was no signage indicating sale price.
I went to produce to grab the guac, & the display was empty, but there was a display of Corona & no signage. I found two containers of guac wedged between produce.
I asked for the store mgr, unfortunately there was no mgr on duty so I spoke to Isaac, a sales assc. He was in charge! He said he would report my info to a mgr He unkept.
I’ve been going to a Jewel outside of my neighborhood because I get better customer service quality produce/meat & the shelves are stocked!
Ida Cruz says
I am writing on behalf of an employee, Ida Cruz who works at the Jewel store in Villa Park, IL. Ida called me to ask if I would contact the Jewel Union because she indicates that she is being discriminated. For several years Ida has told me that the discrimination as Jewel continues. She is unable to get Union representation, in Spanish. Telephone messages have been left asking for a Spanish Union Representative and no return calls, so what does the Union do for its employees? I am asking that a Spanish Union Representative goes in person to speak with Ida about what she has been enduring for years. One example, a couple of days ago Ida has four teeth pulled. Her doctor gave her a note to rest for two days, which she did. Also, she was given an antibiotic prescription which she has to first eat something then take her medication. Well, it was time for Ida to take her break so she could take her medication and she was told by her manager that she could not take her brake because they were too busy. An employee told her to take her medication with water. On this day, she worked the entire day without any breaks or lunch. Well, aren’t their rules about employees, by law, being entitle to breaks and lunch depending on the hours they work? Here is another example: Ida provided a doctor’s note, a while back, indicating, she can only pull carts from outside into the store for 45 minutes a day, well Management decides to ignore the letter and makes her pull carts twice a day for thirty minutes.
Ida understands English but cannot speak it, so if a Spanish Union Rep., does not meet with her within the next week, she is going to contact the Spanish News and report on the discrimination she is facing.

I have taken a thyroid drug under the name of Levothyroxine Sodium 25 Mcg Tab for some time now. I have never had a problem until now. I picked up my 90 day prescription from Osco located at 12450 S. Harlem Ave., Palos Heights, Il. PH: 708-671-1574.
When I opened up the container the pills have a strong odor to them. I went back to Osco and the gal opened up a new bottle in front of me and they also had this new odor. I would like this checked out as these pills should have no odor at all. The manufacturer listed on the prescription simply says Sand which is no help. I don’t want to taking this pill with the odor if there is something wrong with them. Please check out this problem and get back to me.

I dont think he was talking to anyone at all for fear he would get fired. This was a bad experience after shopping at JEWEL AVENUE OF THE CITIES for 17years , most employees know me . that mess was really bad and no one did anything about the mess .raised on a farm I know the smell of a mouse and rat nest and think the freezer had a nest inside. I have been having a problem with the deli department now for about the last 6 months. It takes at least a 1/2hour to be waited on at the Munster,In. store. They are slow and lack organization . Perhaps they need better management and/or training skills., It is frustrating to wait and wait. I should be able to wait 10 minutes , not a 1/2 hour or more. Christine Gutowski

your employees at the Naperville Jewel opposite the postoffice on ogden avenue are superb!
i had just left the hospital after a major operation and had called ahead for 2 no salt cooked chickens. someone mistakenly gave them to someone else. A friend drove me and had already spent a lot of time helping me.
One of your deli clerks (Billy McCartney) realized what happened. He recognized the name because I had ordered them many times before. He had already alerted the assistant store director. When i asked for my chickens, he told me there was a problem and told me that it would be taken care of. The assistant store director (Mitch Leone) was called and he came out and told me that they would immediately cook two chickens and that he personally would deliver them to my house. I almost cried in relief. I can’t eat salt so i couldn’t substitute deli meat. I didn’t feel good enough to cook, so I really counted on the chickens to get my dog and I thru the next two days.
They were as good as their words and saved the day for me! Talk about going the extra mile! They deserve recognition! Gail Schomburg 847-533-XXXXX

Over the past few years my husband Greg and I have had some bad experiences at the Jewel on 63rd and Main Street in Downers Grove, IL which are listed below.
— As my husband was ready to check out he noticed that the cashier picked his nose right in front of him. He also sneezed and wiped it on his shirt. Some of the cashiers look dirty and unkempt and I’ve seen some of them sneeze in their hands without using a hand sanitizer afterwards.
— We sometimes have to return food. Today we bought oranges and when we got home we noticed that 1 orange had a thick slit in it and the other was moldy. I also needed to purchase 8 avocados yesterday it the only avocados they had were not ripe at all and they only had about 20 of them so I went to the Jewel on Ogden and sure enough they had the perfect avocados. We’ve also returned meat because after we opened it it smelled like sulfur. Customer service is very rude and not helpful and it seems as if we’re inconveniencing them when it’s the other way around.
— Jewel is constantly out of food we’re shopping for so we have to go to the one on Ogden. Over the past week Jewel has been out of ground chicken and whenever we ask a clerk if they have any in the. Back we just get a plain no without them even trying.
We have been shopping at this Jewel and Osco for almost 20 years and it has never been a bad experience u til he last few years. This obviously seems to be a managerial problem but we sincerely hope these types of problems are rectified sooner than later. Again so sorry for this long-winded email but we sent an Email earlier this year to a different address and never received a response.

OMG! I was picking up a few items after work but had to stop shopping to use the restroom. It was absolutely deplorable!!!!!!!! I’ve never seen a washroom that bad anywhere, not even in the washrooms in the park! There was no toilet paper in any stall, tissue all over the floor and a pile of feces on top of the seat!!!! I asked an employee to stand guard so that I could go in the men’s facility. I walked in and walked right back out. It was just as bad. Please do something immediately about keeping your washrooms clean for your paying customers. If we are patronizing your store then we should have a clean restroom to use! This was at your store on Ashland and Roosevelt. Thank you

I have been a fantastic customer for over 40 + years. On Friday, March 30 as usual, I went to Jewel on Maple in Mundelein. I received, as usual, an email from Jewel-Osco to receive free one Hershey’s Gold Bar, one free Left Field Farms Non-GMO mile and one free Bodyarmor SportWater. I printed out the pages showing the free items. I continued to do more shopping. When I went to check out I was told that I could not get the free items. I was very surprised when a woman behind me told the cashier to give me the free items. I was told I had to have a smart phone to take pictures and put on my phone. I had no idea what the cashier was saying. The woman behind me (my angel) got a manager, a second manager and finally a third manager. They made fun of me because I did not have a smart phone. I wanted to crawl out of the store because they embarrassed me so much. The lady went on to say her father is 80 years old and he does not have a smart phone. I am 74 years old. Your sending me emails for free stuff is a lie and dishonest. That same week I spent over hundreds of dollars and approximately the same amount every week for years. I have also play monopoly and save the pieces. I have made many friends with the cashiers and baggers who have always been so nice. Your managers, however are biased to the elderly, suck, treated me like dirt and belittled me for not having a smart phone. Luckily I have other local grocery stores. I have now gone to Mariano’s, Whole Foods and others. Why would you (?I thought a respectable store?) treat me with such disdain? I am old but did not deserve this treatment. I am retired a College after serving students, families and professors and receiving numerous awards for excellence. As well as volunteering to work with special needs people locally, being a Special Olympics coach, travelling to Guatemala to work with their challenged people. Again receiving numerous awards. I am the least threatening or scary person to have been put down by your managers.

Something has to be done!!!!!!! I have never been so disappointed in a floral department in my life. Every week I stop to buy flowers for my mothers grave and every week there are no roses no flowers really to choose from. The ones that are there are brown and limp. I have talked with Pam the manager ( at the Zion Jewel on Sheridan Road) several times about this. I have even stated I would come in on a certain day if that helps her response has always been I am sorry and that in that store they simply order to run out of product by the end of the day. This was very shocking to hear from a manager, and left me with no real solution.
Well this week I asked if she could please box an arrangement for me to which she rolled her eyes raised her voice and said she did not have time and walked away. She is very rude and angry when you ask her questions or for help. I simply am appalled at her behavior.
I had asked to speak with her manager and she stated she was the manager and if you did not like the service Walmart is down the street.
I shop at Zion jewel several times a week there meat department, bake shop, dairy, farmstand, cashiers and service desk employees all know me and go out of their way to help me with anything I need. The lady that works in farmstand has even come to help me in floral because there was no one could find the floral staff. Mind you she has walked clear across the store with a smile on her face to help as does the service desk and cashiers that have helped me before.
I am asking for something to be done or I will be happy to take my 30 plus years of business elsewhere.
Pam is not a professional person and really should not represent your company!!!
Please take action!,

I am so tired of complaining about the jewel in Skokie, I’ll. I went in today to get paper plates and potatos. I waited in you 15 or less line ( which was very crowded. I got your cashier, Lee. The plates a a sale price of 2 4 5. I bought 1 which Lee rang up 4 3.49. I told her they were 2/5. Without calling for a price check she told me they were 3.49 and asked if I wanted them. I said no. Paid for the potatos and went in back asked a plesent young lady if she could call the manager. She had some one in the meat dept call. The Manager never showed, I proceeded to leave. This young lady asked if she could help me. I told her what was going on. She said the tag ended yesterday but would go up front after pulling the sales tag
and go to customer service. I told her no giving a bad revie and will never come back! Great customer service Jewel

I am getting really upset with Jewel. I shop the Jewel on Irving and Naragannset.
This is the the fifth time I have not been able to buy heart healthy Noodle soup in Jewel.I also have not been able to buy boxed microwaved French fries. Every time I go there they have dropped some other product I have been buying for years. The stock is half of what it used to be. I am a senior and disabled. I have shopped at Jewel for thirty years. I may have to start to look for another store to shop in.

Ok this gets even better. Just opened the two containers of strawberries I bought yesterday at the same time as the slug infested celery (for $2.50 a piece) as well. Both contain numerous rotten and slimy berries. absolutely disgusting. Is this the suppliers fault too? I’d also like to mention that I have had to return radishes and pre-packaged cabbage there previously as well. In addition, the Deli ladies have pretty much completely ignored me and other customers when trying to purchase cooked chicken on “Cheap Chicken Monday”. When the line got about 3 deep I politely asked “excuse me, could someone help us?” The whole time there were 2 deli employees attending to other tasks behind the counter while we all stood there. One of the ladies then told us “just a minute” while she finished up whatever the pressing task was that made her neglect us. She never said sorry or anything. Also, if you aren’t able to get to the story by 4:30ish, there usually isn’t any chicken left. Most people don’t even get out of work that early and the dinner hour is anywhere from 4-6 on average, so you are loosing a lot of business. But if you want to buy wings instead, they are quite often out of the bags for them, which also looses money for your company since there is no way to get the wings home with out the bags.

I visited your store on Vail in Arlington Heights yesterday to buy some of my daughters favorite foods since she was coming home for Fall Break from college. She loves buffalo chicken dip, so I bought all the ingredients and also some celery to spread it on. I made the dip today and opened up the package of celery to prepare for the dip. I was completely shocked and disgusted to find that my celery was infested with slugs. They had been eating on the celery and I literally haven’t been able to eat anything since then due to nausea from seeing this.
So back I have to go, wasting time on this gorgeous day, to jewel to return the celery and talk to the manager. Long story short, I am completely disgusted by your customer service, especially since I spend a fortune at your store each year and have been doing so for many, many years. The manager offered to give me my money back or exchange the celery, as if I wanted more of the horrible product! When I said I was insulted and that was not satisfactory, he offered me a $10 gift card and said that was all he could do for me and it was the suppliers fault. Way to pass the buck!! I took pictures and can forward them to you. I cant tell you how unhappy I am about how this was handled and how disrespected I feel as a very good customer. As convenient as the Vail Street store is, I have absolutely had it. I will go out of my way from now on NOT to shop there unless you are able to compensate for the situation. Sincerely, Sandy Vliet
