Home Instead Senior Care was founded in 1994 by husband and wife team Paul and Lori Hogan in Omaha, Nebraska. The company operates a senior home care service.
After having one of their family members live past 100, the Hogans realized how important it was to have good quality care for people who would rather stay at home instead. From a single operation, the company has grown to more than 1,000 franchises worldwide. Caregivers go through ongoing, comprehensive training. The company has been cited as a business success story in numerous publications, including Forbes and Time Magazine.
Home Instead Senior Care has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, as well as 4 to 4.5 star rating through Yelp. Company headquarters are still located in Omaha, Nebraska.

Providing home care for people is a sacred trust and your company violated that trust. Besides the fact that you did not honor any of the promises made in our original agreement you are more than a business selling a product; you are a healthcare company and were asked to provide care for an elderly cancer patient because his family could not be there and you failed completely.
Here are the details:
1. The providers did not arrive on time to provide services
2. When a provider was tasked with taking my dad to a doctors appointment my dad was dropped off at the curb and left alone with no way to find his way
3. When the provider was asked to perform light household tasks such as cleaning, laundry etc the provider seemed to lack a basic understanding of how these things are done instead asking questions like “Can I run the washer and dryer at the same time?” or “Are the clothes in the laundry basket dirty “ when all this information had already been provided; another provider was asked to vacuum and she replied with a frown and asked “the whole house?!” We have a small two bedroom apartment and one room was closed off anyway because my brother was working there.
4. When the provider was asked to help my Dad get washed up all necessary personal care items were placed out in clear sight in the bathroom for use; however the provider still asked where things were- asking questions like “what should I use to wash his hair?” Another provider asked if it was ok if she didn’t help my dad wash “his privates”; my dad has cancer and as a result of his condition he is sometimes incontinent of urine so “his privates” are the main part of his body that needed to be washed; at intake we were told that providers were capable and willing to assist with toileting and personal care.
5. When taking my dad for appointments the address of the location was provided in writing and by text; however on more than one occasion even though the appointment was at the same place the provider got lost and on one occasion made my dad late for his appointment which ended up causing him to have to wait an hour for the next appointment
6. The office never communicated with us about scheduling : they did not inform us that no provider was available which happened frequently and if a provider was available they did not inform us what time the provider would be arriving
7. When I tried to call in and ask about anything including scheduling, available services and follow up I was met with rudeness and incompetence; once I called on a Sunday night because we desperately needed a provider for Monday after the 2 prior scheduled providers had not come and I was told they couldn’t reach out to any potential providers because it was too late in the day (it was 9pm); I was told to call back during business hours which I did on Monday morning and I was told “ I just got here ; I can’t help you”. Another time I was told “don’t you talk to your brother?”. My brother was the designated contact person but I was calling about a separate matter and that comment was completely uncalled for.
8. A provider was on her cellphone while she was to be caring for my dad; she made a personal call about her own medications and was texting when my dad was waiting for her to get washed up
9. One of the providers came regularly to care for my dad ; he often had many questions about small issues while caring for my dad; because my dad lives with my brother who works from home and cannot stop work to answer questions I had asked this provider to please call me at anytime with questions; he repeatedly ignored this request and continued to ask questions of my brother who lives with my dad resulting in him almost getting into trouble with work.

I was a caregiver at a local Homeinstead and it was a good job until it was sold . I worked there almost 4 years , I have seen recently many 24 hour care clients left with no coverage , and at one point they gave the client – 2 week notice for calling and complaining about the care and coverage of his wife . On the last day of their 2 week notice I quit Homeinstead and covered this client because lawfully they neglected to cover them even to the last day . They were told there would be no coverage because 2 caregivers quit and the next day the same caregiver was with another client still employed by them . Someone needs to run an audit on the one in Sequim Washington before someone gets severely hurt . Afterwards I am being harassed by Homeinstead and they went as far as calling adult protective services because a caregiver related to an office worker lied and said that the husband was abusive to her and it’s not true. They should be ashamed of themselves trying to wreck their lives because they are getting that money for nothing . I have ptsd from the stress they have put on the client and anxiety. I wouldn’t trust them with my loved one under the rule of the new owner if my life depended on it . Someone needs to do something

The Headquarters has no place on it’s website to leave a complaint about service or the lack their of by one on the franchises.
I asked for 24/7 care for my father. He was left from 3:30 pm to around 8:30 pm when the lady scheduled to be there at 11pm came early. In that time he fell twice and EMS had to get him off the floor.
Today he had no worker there after 3pm. He was taken to the hospital by EMS because because he fell and couldn’t feel his legs.
No one was scheduled to come in until 8 pm.
I reminded the on call person that when we signed up that we were told that if a worker called in sick and they had no other person, the on call person would take the shift. She said she had a five year old daughter and wasn’t coming. So, they actually have on call person.
After yesterday I sent a text to the on call person to insure there was coverage for today. I received no response until after 3 pm.
I have had numerous other issues with theft of money. But, thankfully I had Ring cameras in the house.
They have sent two individuals back to the house which one was a elder abuse situation and the other decided that she could just eat whatever food was at the house.
Then they say they do criminal backgrounds. One worker was fired for being drunk on the job and refusing to take the drug and alcohol test. Turns out she had two arrest warrants for attempted burglary of a habitation and 2 to 3 DWI. These workers drive clients cars, running errands. Would you really want them driving your car !
