The Natori Company Corporate Office

The Natori Company was founded in 1977 by current owner and CEO Josie Cruz Natori, in New York, New York. Natori started off as the vice president of an investment banking firm on Wall Street, when she decided that she wanted to run her own company. After altering some blouses from her native Phillipines Islands, she decided to start her own women’s clothing and designer store.

Today, the company has several divisions; men’s wear was introduced in 2005, the Josie line, and Natori Cruz line. The company mainly offers lingerie and other intimate wear. Natori’s products are sold in some of the most expensive department stores worldwide, including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Sak’s.

The company has expanded it lineup to include lounge wear, and a perfume line, and limited home furnishing products.

MacKenzie River Pizza was founded in 1993 in Bozeman, Montana. From the single pizza restaurant, the company has grown substantially to 24 locations in 7 states, and more being developed each year. Franchising began in 1995.

The company offers much more than simply pizza, some newer locations are named MacKenzie River Pizza Grill and Pub. These locations offer an assortment of beer, sandwiches, salads, burgers, tacos, and flatbreads. Most locations have a “lumberjack”or woodland feel to them, with furnishings coming from beetle damaged pine trees and old whiskey barrels.

As of 2005, the company launched an eco-friendly program whereby the company focuses on being energy efficient and sustainable. All lights and computers are turned off at the close of the day, pre-consumer food waste is donated to feed animals, and water conservation is monitored.

Levi Strauss & Company, known to almost everyone as simply “Levis”, was founded in 1853 by two businessmen, Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss. Strauss was already selling denim pants, but it was Davis who had the idea of putting copper rivets in pocket corners to keep them from tearing. Davis, however, was unable to afford a patent. He suggested to Strauss that they go into business together, and Levi jeans became very popular.

The company had annual revenue in 2015 of $4.49 billion and more than 15,000 full-time employees. In addition to the coveted jeans, the company also makes skirts, belts, shoes, T-shirts, dresses, overalls, jackets, trousers, shorts, wallets, and sweatshirts.

The company recently ran into controversy in 2016 after posting signs outside company-owned stores which asked that people not bring firearms into their locations, even in states where open carry is legal after a customer accidentally shot himself while trying on clothing.

In March of 2019, the company announced plans to go public on the NYSE under the ticker symbol LEVI.

Company headquarters are still located in San Francisco, California, where it started back in 1853.

In 2016, the company opened a large office in the L&C tower in downtown Nashville, TN. The 28,000 square foot facility is part showroom and part office with over 100 customer service agents working there daily. The company plans to eventually employ 250 customer service representatives there. As of May 2019, the company has expanded to 90 brick and mortar locations. 

The CEO was one of 180 that signed a pro-life/anti-abortion restriction letter that stated attempts to limit a woman’s right to choose hurts businesses.  This letter was published as a full-page ad in the New York Times on June 9th, 2019.

Warby Parker also has a “buy one donate one” program, where for every pair of glasses purchased, they donate money to the non-profit company Vision Springs, which provides eyeglasses for low-income countries as a means of sponsoring entrepreneurship.

Although the company doesn’t speak openly about their revenue, it’s estimated that they had annual revenue in 2017 of $250 million and the company appears destined to go public soon.
