Giordano’s Pizza Corporate Office

Giordano’s Pizza was founded in 1974 in Chicago, Illinois, by brothers Efren and Joseph Boglio, who had immigrated to America from Italy. The brothers first worked at pizza restaurants, but were not impressed with the quality, so they opened their own restaurant.

The company operates a chain of mostly franchised pizza and Italian food restaurants which use the same pizza recipe that the founding brothers obtained from their mother. Later, the brothers experimented with pizza crusts and flours. They state that they were the inventors of the stuffed crust pizza.

Giordano’s Pizza has approximately 50 locations, most of them in the greater Chicago area. Giordano’s remains one of Chicago’s most famous pizzaria’s. They are best known for their deep dish and stuffed crust pizza’s.

D&W Fresh Market Corporate Office

D&W Fresh Market was founded in 1943 in Grandville, Michigan. Originally named IGA, the founders, Roy Woodrick and Sid DeVries, decided to change the name using the initials of their last names in the early 1960’s.

Today, D&W Fresh Market is a subsidiary of SpartanNash Company, after being acquired in 20036. Currently, there are 11 stores which bear the D&W Fresh Market label, with sister stores owned by SpartanNash under the names Family Fare Quick Stop, VG’s Quick Stop, and Forest Hills Quick Stop.

D&W Central Kitchen was also retained by SpartanNash, however, the catering side of the business, Fresh Thyme, was sold to a local catering company in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Sleepy’s was founded in 1931 in New York by Louis Acker. The company operates a chain of mattress and bedding stores, mostly on the East coast. The company’s original name was Bedding Discount Center, but when the store became incorporated in 1957, the name was changed.

Sleepy’s was acquired by Mattress Firm in late 2016. All stores will soon be re-branded to Mattress Firm. The company has 1,000 locations.

In 2014, Sleepy’s was ranked last among the top 15 mattress retailers in Consumer Reports Magazine.

Bashas’ Grocery was founded in 1932 by Lebanon immigrant Najeeb Basha in Goodyear, Arizona. The family had numerous setbacks working in mining towns but finally had success with their grocery store.

Today, Bashas’ has more than 118 locations and employs nearly 9,500 persons. The company operates under several names, including Bashas’ Grocery, Bashas’Supermarket, Food City, AJ’s Fine Foods, and Bashas’ Dine Market. Company stores can be found throughout Arizona and New Mexico.

Bashas’ Grocery is still family owned and operated. Stores are non-unionized. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2009 but emerged in 2010 after paying off all creditors.

In December 2021, Raley’s Supermarket acquired Bashas’ for an undisclosed amount. 

Bashas maintains a corporate office in Chandler, Arizona.

The company has an active eCommerce site, as well as distributing their products throughout the US, Canada, Japan, and the Caribbean. Bob’s Red Mill makes products such as almond flour, organic, non-gmo corn tortillas, organic, unbleached flour, as well as offering organic grains, beans, and seeds.

Bob’s Red Mill also offers cooking classes at most locations, as well as tours of the mill itself. The mill uses quartz millstones acquired from several out of service mills. These stones are estimated to be 120 years old. In 2010, Bob Moore transferred ownership of the company to his employees using an employee ownership stock program.
