Harriet Carter started a home based mail order business out of her kitchen in 1958 in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. Carter’s children helped to package and fill orders. Some of the first orders for the company were decorative wood switch plate covers, which were made and stained to order, in the family basement.

Harriet Carter still sells via mail order catalogs, but also has an online business as well. The company is known for selling gifts, household items, and useful items or tools for the home including kitchen utensils, candles, and “As Seen On TV” items.
In October 2020, the company sold its showroom and a large warehouse.
The company maintains a corporate office in Montgomeryville, Pennslyvania.

I asked for a supervisor, got put on hold, after 7 minutes they hung up on me!
The CORP. number does not work, just disconnected before it even rang! They do not care. STAY AWAY, FAAAAAAR AWAY!!

I tried to place order and was told I had to sign up for some club membership and to cancel in a month if I did not want it I told her I did not want it She said I could just cancel I told her I am not placing a order when they can charge my card if I forget to cancel I just told her not to place order at all Her name was Nice and she said she was in the Philippines Why is this company not giving jobs to AMERICANS ? They can keep their goods and I am filing complaint with BBB here in America SHAME ON THEM

I am awaiting two deliveries from your catalog. So, I was stunned this morning to get a call from one of your sources and they were utterly rude! I ordered shoes and also eyeglass holder cases— I am waiting for those orders. this person was so rude that I m not sure I want to do business with you again. here is who called: dr. why would you permit this/…it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I always like your catalog. ….I doubt I will even get a response- which confirms that you all have gotten too big and do not control this too well. it was a bad way to start my day…..they were solicting behind your back nd i explined that i have not gotten the products yet– it all went down hill after that.

HI! I place and order with Harriet Carter on 1/14/2020 and the order was paid in full .At the time of placing my order i was told my order would arrive on or before January- 22- 2020, well i didn’t receive my order so i called Harriet Carter to find out why i didn’t receive my order. Once again i was given a second date that my order would arrive on January-23-2020 once again the order didn’t arrive i called back to Harriet Carter a second time to find out what was the delay . Once again i was given a third date January -27-2020, well wouldn’t you know it the order still didn’t come. I tried tracking the package still no current up date on the package. I’m still waiting on my package to arrive. i was told by customer service that i could not get a refund until i receive the order and return it then i would receive a full refund. I’M VERY DISPLEASED WITH THIS COMPANY, WHAT EVER HAPPEN TO EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I have been given three dates and before ending the call a 4th date was given. THIS IS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I WILL NOT BE A RETURN CUSTOMER.
