Gino’s East was founded in 1966 by two taxi drivers, Fred Bartoli and Sam Levine, along with their friend George Loverde. This trio wanted to make a pizza that was unlike every other pizza. Gino’s East is known for its Chicago-style deep dish pizza, with the toppings in reverse. Pizzas have cheese on the bottom, then toppings, then sauce.
Today’s Gino’s East has 10 locations, with Texas franchise locations being operated by ATX Brands, which owns the copyright in that state. The company also owns a brewery with the same name. When 5 Rabbit Brewery decided that they would no longer supply beer to Trump Tower in Chicago, they took that batch and relabeled it “Chinga Tu Pelo” (F**K Your Hair). Gino’s East purchased every single bottle.
In addition to its backward pizza, the company is known for its interior walls on which clients can write, draw, or etch whatever they like.
Gino’s East also offers a line of frozen pizzas and other Italian dishes.
In June 2023, The Original Rainbow Cone and Gino’s East in the Miracle Mile teamed up to offer ice cream and pizza in one location.
Gino’s East maintains a corporate office in Chicago, Illinois.

My sisters and I had the most disgusting and terrible experience at Gino’s Pizza downtown last night June 14th. The pizza was nasty, rushed, hard and burnt, cold, and the order was mixed up. The chef neither waitress could tell which pizza belonged to whom and which pizza was actually served. The waitress had an attitude and she had the audacity to serve us water with particles in it. We complained and got no proper service. The manager or whomever the guy was, was extremely rude and insulting. He smelled of smoke/cigarettes and looked deplorable. He insulted us and told my sisters and I that he doesn’t give a damn about how messed up our food was, he was only there to make sure we paid our “discounted bill” of $27.32 on the cameras for the police to see. As visitors and first timers being in Chicago, this left a terrible impression and I would never recommend Gino’s Pizza not even to my worst enemy. All parties from the restaurant insulted our intelligence and they all knew the Pizza was prepared in a terrible manner. They all had nasty attitudes and when we asked for the manager, the young girl started screaming “I am the manager!” How nasty is that behavior towards foreigners? The service was despicable and the people involved last night needs a lesson on being courteous, respectful, and professional. Everyone was entirely out of order and my sisters and I were highly disrespected and disappointed. The corporate office of Gino’s Pizza should be highly embarrassed because the faces behind the downtown location is doing a poor job of representing them .

This is the 2nd negative experience with Gino’s East Atlanta.
Apparently they are not ready to handle crowds or to go orders after 2 hours of opening.
Order called in @6:07
Went to pick it up @6:45
They then informed me they were running behind an hour
When the order was called in, the server said 30 minutes
Talked to the Manager (Steve)
We went back and forth regarding the issue.
He insisted we were informed about the hour delay
How can he insist when he was not on the phone with the customer?
After much back and forth and still no pizza ready, i decided to cancel my order.
I refuse to go toggle back and forth with a Manager that should be better trained to handle customer complaints.
The atmosphere there is like a zoo.
They are not ready to service crowds.
Very sad because we were so looking forward to pizza (Chicago style)
Terrible Experience thus far

We decided to go to Gino’s East tonight for bingo as a family. Being new to the area, we have not been to this location together and due to the weather and being stuck inside, we thought it would be a lot of fun. Sadly, is was not. We arrived at 5:30 and was directed to the bar area for bingo. It was not busy at this time, and only one other group of people were playing bingo. We were not given menus or silverware, or even asked if we were eating. Having two eight year olds, one would assume that we needed something.
After sitting awhile, I had to ask to join the game. After sitting awhile again, I had to ask for service. Once the server came, I had to ask for a menu. We promptly ordered drinks, waited awhile, and once the server came again, we promptly ordered food.
After bingo suddenly stopped we asked for some type of coloring or something – to my surprise there is a KIDS MENU! We were never even offered the place mat menus, which would have saved us money and it would have been a huge convenience! I feel that this should have been given to us if we had been seated like valued customers.
Due to the fact that we ordered a deep dish, dinner took awhile and the kids became restless; we were surprised when bingo did not resume. Our meal came and someone came and took out Bingo cards – it was not even seven. Bingo was supposed to keep going until 8. After two rounds of bingo, the bingo girl became ill and left. NO ONE TOLD US! She left right after we ordered. I feel that we should have been told and had the option to leave.
I am not sure what happened tonight, but I don’t think I have ever felt like more of an inconvenience as a customer as I did today. I truely feel as though me and my family were a bother to Gino’s East in Lake Geneva tonight.
I want you to know that we are disappointed.

I ordered a large extra pepperoni pizza. She sent me a regular pepperoni pizza and a DR PEPPER pop, which I don’t drink. I call her back to explain the situation, and all I really wanted was the next time I ordered a pizza, to please just put some extra pepperoni on it. But she was not having it. she was rude and over talking me through the whole conversation. All she had to do was say (ok we’ll take care of you next time) and it would have been over. Ask to speak to a manager and she said she was it. Don’t get me wrong, at this point it’s not about the pizza anymore, it’s about the customer service. My first mind was to slam the company on the web and never order anything from you again, but I thought you would like to know what’s going on with your customers.

You should keep an eye on the owner’s of Gino’s East in Phoenix, they love to drink and get drunk at there establishment. I worked there for a moment but was such a hostile environment and just a straight up mess that i quit. The kitchen was filthy as was the bar and the amount of management that they went through in the few months that i worked there was astounding. A very unprofessional place to work at when the manager is talking about sleeping with his neighbor and ogling customers, his name is Ryan.

I visit your restaurant in Lake Geneva your on line menu says Veggie stuffed pizza is spinach mushroom tomatoes and Garlic.but the restaurant tells me it’s eggplant zucchini basil and mushroom. Which is no where near as good.
They blame corporate for people getting the order wrong, because nobody seems to want to change the online menu. We and our neighbors have been ordering there for years, however we won’t until yo go back to the old ingredients.or don’t charge extra when we order the way we like it.

This is the second time I’m writing since I already filled out a form in the Gino’s East website. We took my cousin from California to Gino’s East River North last Wednesday, August 9th. I wanted her to have authentic Chicago pizza. It was so cold in there that our pizza became cold right away. I was shivering even though I was wearing a sweater. The pizza was decent even though it became cold right away. We ordered the Cinnamon Sugar Beignet Balls for dessert since we had ordered them before and they were delicious. I asked for a fork and was given the knife and fork set wrapped in a napkin. I took out the fork and food fell off of it. The fork was dirty. I grabbed a beignet with my fingers since I didn’t have a fork and it was hard and seemed stale. My husband ordered a coffee and it wasn’t hot. The River North location seems to have gone downhill, which is really too bad since we live so close to there. If I could have some type of reimbursement (maybe towards another dinner), maybe it would change my mind on a different night. Hope this message is read by someone and I receive a response. Thank you.

Rosemont Ginos East location is AWFUL!.
Sunday nite we used our Groupon for Ginos East (Forty dollars value)
My husband and I were seated in the lower level of Ginos East.
I realize the restaurant was busy but I would have waited for a table
rather than sit downstairs climbing at least ten stairs which led to
dizziness. Downstairs was a party of ten. We were ignored and I
had to again climb up the ten stairs to complain we were ignored.
The manager apologized ( she appeared sloppily dressed and over-all
appearance as a manager was a poor impression immediately.
The manager offered she would handle our meal and took our order.
From then on we were annoyed at the over compensated treatment
as a result of being ignored. That did not change the skimpy portion of
salad we received or the barely warm pizza when served. The manager
stated our meal was comped. How could that be when the waitress took
our Groupon ticket and never implied or gave us an offer of a free pizza
as compensation for the awful evening and service we received that nite.
Consequently, My husband will NEVER return to that Rosemont Ginos
East location. Slipshod managers and lack of any organization would
shorten your profitability since the Rivers Casino is located nearly
next door to the Rosemont Ginos East. With better service just imagine
the increase of customers if that Rosemont Ginos East were well run and not
a disaster waiting to happen!. My husband and I are certainly entitled to a free
pizza or meal from Ginos East ( not at that lousy Rosemont location)

Dear Sir or Madame,
You may want to MONITOR the Hostess and some of the waitress personnel over at the Rosemont location on West Devon Avenue. I also do NOT believe that stopping in the *location * for a quick meal and Beer at 9 :30p.m on a Saturday night, 45 minutes before closing, shoud put a DAMPER on their lazy attitude or *Rush* to close the restaurant for the evening.
I waited 17 minutes at a singe Table before I walked out. The hostess . A Young woman, mid 40’s curly black hair, with BLack Glasses, did not have any waitres come to seat me oin the 17 minutes, that myself solo was sitting at the table in the middle of the restaurant. Not only that, she did NOT answer incoming phone calls.
The Hostess or manager “pesonnel ” possess a “Care less” personalty. I can honestly believe, after kowing people in Management of restaurant’ for over 12 years, and even doing Mystery Shopping Asignments, the HOSTESS for Saturday night post 9p.m. at the front, 11-5-2016, portrayed, along with a young female waitress, the attitude of NOT Desiring to want to be there in the frontline or by the Hall at all. . Woman, hostess didn’t send anybody over to me after 15 miutes- before then I walked out to go and meet someone outside, telling them we’re not dining here.
Hostes was appaling the way she was speaking to folks inside the restaurant or NO addressing the concerns.
It SHOULD be monitored/ addreessed .
With the expression on their Face pacing the restaurant, as they are winding down for the 10:15pm or 10:30pm. The Hostess, for example, Female, back clurly hair, Late 40’s, early 50’s , wearing Glasses, all have the Personalities on their Facess, of LAZY, ” I don’t want to be here ” long faces. Considering I also observed the woman and young female blonde waitress, mid 20’s upon my Exit from the restaurant after NOT being served at my solo table for 15 minutes of sitting down, the TWO staff workers I saw from the lobby/foyer, who were Not answering phone Calls. .. when they came in to the restaurant after 9:50p.m.
So if your management Team in Rosemont, portrays themselves in the manner they don’t want the buisiness, even while not picking up the phone not even 30 minutes before closing, , cause they don’t want to contend with extra customers, THEN I don’t knwo what to tell you. MOre power to you guys and them I suppose.
You gotta work on BETTER Management and being on the Ball over there I already sent a Twittering message of Folllow, specific about management and HOSTESS for that Location, and half the workers “Facial ” Attitude.
They can clean up their Act. It is lazyness and Not wanting to be there is what me and my friend got from it ..
Thank you for your time in hearing a real Valid concern. I loved that menu too. It would be ashame to lose 1 to 3 *local* Reegular twice a month customoers over there, just because of some of the night time management. I know you recently Relocated too.

Sound similar to my experience March 19th 2017. The host of Ginos East
never acknowledged my husband and I. We had a twenty dollar Groupon for
a deal of a forty dollar meal. We were not asked if we could wait for a table.
Instead this nearly disconnected Ginos East host seated us in the lower level.
I felt as if I were in a basement not a Ginos East restaurant. As you could well
every aspect of our Sunday nite at Ginos East in the Rosemont was unpleasant.
We were ignored. There was another party of ten seated in another area.
I noticed my husband and I were the only patrons seat at this lower level.
Why?. After complaining which involved climbing nearly ten stairs, the
manager ( or so he claimed was apologetic and offered to provide better service
and responsibility for our order. We experienced after being ignored, the extreme
opposite. It was nearly annoying that every few minutes some waiter or
employee asked if everything was ok.. We ordered a salad for two which
arrived in a skimpy portion, warm bordering on cool pizza not hot.
I wonder the length of time was about two minutes still in the Ginos East
kitchen for the pizza to arrive at our table nearly cool temperature which
resulted in our pizza tasting not as good as if the pizza had been served
sooner!.. The manager was sloppy looking and never gave an impression
of a professional manager in a busy, popular restaurant. How did she become
manager, a lottery?.
The funniest part of our unpleasant evening at Ginos East that nite, was
when the manager or so she claimed, said our meal was comped!.
No way!. She took our Groupon and never offered a free meal.
I feel we deserved a free meal with all the lousy experience Ginos East
Rosemont location displayed towards my husband and I!.
We did receive a lousy brownie dessert only for one.
Great compensation for a lousy nite and skimpy portions.
The pizza was good but that is about the only positive in a nite of negatives.!
I too agree The Ginos East Rosemont location should have a closer look.
This Ginos East Rosemont location is nearly next door the Rivers Casino.
If Ginos East would care to increase their business in Rosemont replace
the slipshod management, they displayed toward us and probably many
others.
