Grandy’s Corporate Office

Grandy’s was founded by two high school friends who were working together at a cafeteria. This pair decided that they wanted to create a restaurant that not only had comfort foods like a cafeteria but had service people could count on.

The restaurant chain was sold several times over the years and was eventually sold to Captain D’s, LLC, in 2011. Currently, the company has 50 locations, with most of them in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas area. The restaurant chain offers comfort foods and traditional American meals, such as fried chicken, mashed potates, and chicken fried steaks.

Grandy’s is perhaps best known for it’s fried chicken dinners, although the company is open for breakfast and lunch as well. Headquarters are now located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Pizza Guys was founded in 1986 by Shahpour Nejad and Reza Kalantari in California. Originally called Superb Pizza, Nejad decided to franchise and wanted a “catchier” name. Franchising and the name change began in 1994.

The company is known for making its own sauce from locally grown tomatoes and California cheese, as well as handmade dough. Coit was founded in San Francisco, California, in 1950 by Louis Kearn. Originally starting off strictly as a dry cleaning business, Kearn found a niche by offering to dry clean drapes. The name comes from the Coit towers, near to where Kearn’s original building was located. The company grew quickly and franchising began in 1962.

In 1952, Coit was advertising a guarantee of the company’s work, which was highly unusual at the time. Before long, the company not only held a patent for their specialized way of dry cleaning draperies, and in 1970, the company was offering cleaning of upholstery and carpets as well.

Today, Coit is best known for its drape, carpet and upholstery cleaning, although the company has expanded to other areas as well, including clean up from water damage, cleaning of air ducts, tile and grout, wood floors and stone cleaning. The company serves more than a half million customers each year and has franchises in the US, Canada, and Thailand.

Coit is still family owned and operated, with Bob Kearn leading the company as CEO. Company headquarters are now located in Burlingame, California.

The company began renting an upstairs room in an old creamery, offering discounts on new furniture, as well as an eclectic mix of used, antique, and handmade items. In July of 2017, the company purchased a 118 year old building know as The Cotton Mill in Jefferson, Georgia. This “new” location will house dozens of mini-stores, similar to a mall setting, with franchises selling their home goods and furniture items.
