Tieks Corporate Office

Kfir Gavrieli, his sister Dikla, and his brother Elram, founded Tieks by Gavrieli, better known as Tieks, in 2008.

Tieks are all leather ballet styled flat shoes that bend in half, so they fit in a pocket or purse. Dikla is credited with the idea after she became annoyed by stuffing flip flops into a bag to wear after a long day at work wearing high-heeled pumps.

Each pair of shoes comes with a drawstring pouch for storing the shoes so purses or pockets don’t become dirty. Tieks shoes are well known not only for being foldable but for having distinctive blue soles.

Despite having no prior experience with shoes or marketing, the brothers set out to Italy to speak with tannery shops, acquiring quality leather for their shoes.

Oprah is a big fan of Tieks and despite the hefty price tag (between $165 and $300), the demand for these flats has soared.

In 2016, the Gavrieli clan made Inc’s 30 Under 30 list.

Currently, these popular ballet flats are manufactured overseas and are only available on the company’s webpage, but that may change in the near future.

In July 2013, the company made the Forbes list of the Top 25 Creative Consumer and Retail Brands list.

In response to the coronavirus, Tieks began a campaign to provide face masks to frontline workers called SewTogether.

Tieks maintains a corporate office in Beverly Hills, California.

Winners Corporate Office

Winners was first opened in 1982 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. At the time, it was the first and only discount clothing and shoe store in Canada.

In 1990, Winners was acquired by TJX Companies, who also own TJ Maxx stores. Since 2001, Winners has been paired with HomeSense, which offers home decor items, similar to the HomeGoods stores in the US.

In 2016, CBS investigated the “retail price” on Winner’s price tags and discovered that they were not always what they appeared to be and were misleading.

The company currently has 279 locations throughout Canada.

Winners does not sell their clothing or home decor items online.

In July 2020, the parent company issued a statement regarding COVID-19, stating that all employees would be required to wear masks until further notice but that stores would remain open.

Winners maintains a corporate office in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Adidas Corporate Office

Adidas logo

After his return from WWI, Adolf Dassler and his brother Rudolf began making shoes for sporting events out of his mother’s laundry room in 1924. With electricity being unreliable, the brothers often had to pedal a bicycle to generate electricity for their equipment.

Dassler was the innovator of modern spiked shoes for sporting events, removing the heavy metal spikes in favor of rubber and canvas. He convinced Jesse Owens to wear his shoes for the 1936 summer Olympics and after winning 4 gold medals, the reputation of Dassler’s shoes became famous worldwide.

Adidas shoes The brothers had a falling out in 1947, with Rudolf forming what would become Puma brand and Adolf forming Adidas. Although it is a popular urban legend that the name is an acronym for All Day I Dream About Sports, the name was actually formed from “Adi” (a nickname for Adolf) and “Das” (from “Dassler”).

Today, Adidas is one of the most well-known brands of sporting apparel, equipment, and shoes in the world. The company also owns Reebok, Runtastic, and Matix. The company sponsors numerous sporting events and hires athletes such as Lionel Messi to promote their clothing and shoe line.

Adidas tennis wear  With Nike having controversy swirling around the company over spokesperson Colin Kaepernick, Adidas appears to be benefitting from this, with sales up more than 17.6% compared to Nike’s 6.8%.

Company headquarters for the USA are located in Portland, Oregon.

UGG Corporate Office

Ugg logo

UGG was founded in 1978 by Austrailian surfer  Brian Smith and his friend Doug Jensen in Santa Monica, California. Smith and Jensen first applied to be the United States distributors for the Western Australian sheepskin boot manufacturer, Country Leather. Unhappy with the quality of the boot, Smith decided to remodel the boot with improvements. He called it UGG and with an investment of $20K from family members, the company was in business. They sold 28 pairs in their first year.

Jensen sold his share to Smith the following year. The company struggled for a bit, until their boots were worn by the US Olympic Team in 1994. In 1995, Deckers Brand acquired the company for $14.5 million. Deckers began to expand the company internationally and experienced double-digit growth in the late 1990’s, but when the boot was featured on Oprah’s “Favorite Things” episode in 2003, the company had a staggering amount of growth, causing them to open a store for the first time in the SoHo district of New York.

ugg classic boots In 2012 the company reached $1 billion in sales. The brand is often the target of copy-cat production, with thousands of fake UGG boots being confiscated each year in multiple countries, including the US.

While the company announced in early 2018 that they had reached revenue of $1.5 billion, investors are concerned that the brand is no longer popular and that the lack of diversification will cause problems in the near future. Uggs models

UGG products, since they are made from animal skins, have been the subject of boycotts from various animal rights groups including PETA and the Animal Liberation Movement.

Headquarters for UGGS is located in Goleta, California.
