Buehler’s Fresh Foods Corporate Office

Buehler’s Fresh Foods was founded in 1929 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, by Ed and Helen Buehler. The company operates a chain of grocery stores, which focus on local and sustainable food products. Buehler’s is the largest purchaser of Amish produce at the Mt. Hope Auction.

The company currently has 14 locations in the northeast part of the state of Ohio. Company headquarters are now located in Wooster, Ohio. Buehler family members still own and operate the company under the parent name of E&H Family Group. E&H for Ed and Helen.

Buehler’s Fresh Foods closed two locations in 2016, but are interested in adding different ventures to the company name, including ACE Hardware stores and Scenic River Coffee Company.

Big Y Foods Corporate Office

Big Y Foods was founded in 1936 by Paul D’Amour and his family. The original name of the company was Y Cash Market. Today, the company operates a chain of supermarkets under the Big Y Foods or Big Y World Class Market names.

The company has locations throughout New England and is one of the largest privately held supermarket chains in the area. In 2015, the company had $1.7 billion in annual revenue and employed more than 12,000 persons.

In 2013, the company announced that they were entering the fuel and convenience store industry. The new locations will be called Big Y Express.

Alaska General Seafoods was founded in 1961 in Neknek, Alaska. Originally called Nelbro Packing Company, the Nelson Brothers had been long time residents, and fisherman, in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Nelson Brothers started off with a packing plant in Seattle, where fish were chopped and hand packed in cans and bottles.

Today, Alaska General Seafoods is a subsidiary of the Jim Pattison Group. They operate two fisheries in Alaska and a packing plant which is open year round. At the peak of the season, the company employs more than 700 persons. The company also obtains wild salmon and herring from independent fisherman for processing and packing.

Brookshire Brothers Corporate Office

Brookshire Brothers was founded in 1921 in Lufkin, Texas, by brothers Tom and Aurther Brookshire. The company operates a chain of grocery stores across Texas and Louisiana.

As the company grew, other family members, such as Wood Brookshire, broke away from the family business and started their own. Brookshire Market, in Tyler, Texas, is separate from Brookshire Brothers.

Today, the company has more than 110 locations, which operate under various names such as B&B Foods, Celebrate, and David’s. The company continues to grow, mainly through acquisitions such as David’s Markets in 2014, and new stores that were recently built in Apple Springs, Hamilton, Canyon Lake, and Pilot Point, Texas.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Corporate Office

Raising Cane’s Chicken was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1996 by current CEO Todd Graves and friend Craig Silvey. The company operates a chain of fast food restaurants which feature chicken “fingers”. Although the pair had a business plan, they failed to find any investors, so they began working as salmon fishermen in Alaska to raise capital. The name of the company is from a dog that Grave’s once owned named Raising Cane, or Cane, for short.

Today, the company has more than 300 locations across the US and $97.3 million in revenue in 2007. The restaurants offer mostly chicken fingers with a wide variety of sauces, and chicken sandwiches. Some of the sauces are made only by management, who sign a confidentiality agreement that they will never reveal the recipe for Cane’s sauces.

Raising Cane’s Chicken is known for it’s “Give Back” program, whereby at least 25 percent of all profits are put back into the local community projects, such as food banks and animal rescue groups.

The company continues to expand. In September 2021, Raising Cane’s Chicken will have its first location in Maui, Hawaii.
