Hawaiian Electric Industries Corporate Office

Hawaiian Electric Industries is the parent company of Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO). The company was founded in 1891 to supply the Hawaiian island of Oahu  with electricity. By 1914 the company had 2,500 customers and was marketing products such as refrigerators and irons.

When Hawaii became a state in 1959, HECO was providing power to the entire island of Oahu and had a new 116,000 KW plant in downtown Honolulu.

Today Hawaiian Electric Industries is not only the holding company of HECO, but also of Maui Electric and Hawaii Electric Light. The company produces power for 95% of the population of Hawaii, or 450,000 people. It is the sole electric power supplier for the Hawaiian islands of Oahu, Maui, Lanai, and Molokai. Hawaiian Electric Industries also operates American Savings Bank, which has 57 retail branches in Hawaii.

The company was innovative and manufactured the world’s first utility boiler in 1881, first pulverized coal power plant in 1918, components for the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine in 1955, and the first supercritical pressure coal-fired boiler in 1957.

Today Babcock & Wilcox designs, manufactures, and services power generation systems for the fossil, nuclear, and renewable energy markets. The United States government is the company’s largest client, accounting for one-third of total revenue.

The company soon began to diversify by concentrating on internal research and development and strategically acquiring new companies.

DynCorp International Corporate Office

DynCorp International traces its roots to two companies formed in 1946: Land-Air Inc., an aircraft maintenance company, and California Eastern Airways, an air-freight company.

In 1951 California Eastern Airways bought Land-Air Inc. to form California Eastern Aviation, Inc.

In 1999 McMaster sold the company to an investment arm of the Walton family named True North Partners, which changed its name to First Solar.
