TransDigm Group was founded as TransDigm Incorporated in 1993 by W. Nicholas Howley and Douglas W. Peacock after they acquired several small companies from IMO Industries.

In 1998 the company was acquired by Odyssey Investment Partners.

Today TransDigm Group designs, manufactures, and distributes components for military and commercial aircraft. The company operates through subsidiaries, including mechanical controls maker AeroControlex, cockpit security products end electromechanical controls maker Adams Rite Aerospace, batteries and connectors maker Norco Aerospace, and ignition systems and components maker Champion Aerospace.
