Tennis Warehouse Corporate Office

Tennis Warehouse was founded in 1992 by Drew Munster. His first location was in San Luis Obispo, using an old 500 square foot warehouse as his store and supply warehouse.

The company launched its e-commerce site in 1996. Tennis Warehouse does more than just sell tennis shoes, clothing, and tennis rackets, employees test all the equipment so they can give reviews and are better equipped to serve their customers and answer questions.

In 2005, Tennis Warehouse was listed as Online Retailer of the Year by RSI.

In 2013, the website Under30CEO listed Drew Munster as one of the top 5 entrepreneurs who started their businesses without outside funding.

Some of the women players at the 2021 French Open sported clothing sold by Tennis Warehouse.

Mack Weldon was founded in 2011 after founder and current CEO Brian Berger discovered that most men’s underwear and socks were not comfortable, were of poor quality, and were made from non-sustainable materials.

The company originally sold only underwear but has since expanded its products to include socks, tank tops, and sweatpants.

This e-commerce site has only one brick-and-mortar location in Hudson Yards and has yet to partner with any large department store.

While other companies have had difficulties with supply chains during the pandemic, Berger states that having a diversified supply chain ended up being a real boon for the company.

While the company is fairly new, many users state that its products hold up very well.

Noura Sakkijha grew up in a family of jewelers. Surrounded by diamonds and shiny things, Sakkijha didn’t find the sexism of the jewelry industry appealing but she realized that she did enjoy jewelry for her own pleasure.

Mejuri was founded in 2013. Sakkijha wanted to create a jewelry company for women who wanted to buy jewelry for themselves and not wait for a man to give it to her on a special occasion.

In April 2019, Mejuri raised $23 million in Series B funding.

In 2020, the company allocated $120,000 in educational scholarships for Black women and nonbinary people in Canada and the United States through its Empowerment Fund.

In September 2020, the company began offering a line of jewelry for men.

Tim Brown, a New Zealand native, was well-versed in the qualities of merino wool but was surprised to find that it was not used in footwear.

AllBirds was founded in 2015. The company makes a variety of shoes made from New Zealand Merino wool and keeps their products as environmentally friendly as possible, such as using recycled paper for the cardboard boxes the shoes are shipped in.

In March 2018, the company added shoes that were made from eucalyptus tree fibers.

The name comes from the fact that New Zealand has very few indigenous land animals, but has so many birds that it is often called the land of “all birds”.

While the shoes are made from materials sourced in New Zealand, the shoes are assembled in South Korea.

As of January 2021, Allbirds has brick and mortar stores in several countries including New Zealand, the United States, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom,  Germany, China, and Japan.

In May 2020, footwear giant Adidas announced that they had created a partnership with AllBirds.
