Discovery Cove was founded in Orlando, Florida, in July of 2000. The company operates a hands on dolphin, aviary and aquatic park. The company is owned by Seaworld Parks and Entertainment and is a sister park to Acquatica Orlando, as well as Seaworld Orlando.
The park has 4 water themed attractions, including a coral reef swimming pool that has fish and manta rays, a dolphin pool, where guests can swim with dolphins, and the tropical “river”, which goes through the aviary and the perimeter of the park. The aviary has numerous parrots that guests can feed.
Discovery Cove only allows 1,200 visitors at any given time, to keep the animals from becoming overly stressed by crowds. The park has different admission prices, depending on how involved a guest would like to become. Discovery Cove is one of Orlando’s most popular attractions.

Dear Mr. Kyle Miller:
On February 5,2020 I booked tickets for a family vacation on my Citi Bank Debit Card. Approximately a few days later, I added a “daybed” and Photo opt to capture memories of my daughter swimming with the dolphins. The total cost to my checking account after booking tickets, the Cabana, and photo opt was $1,152.80. Confirmation #GJXWJQ8Z (20200205552104). Our vacation to Orlando was to occur the last week of June 2020, we have been to Discovery Cove years ago, and loved every minute so I incorporated a day into our Disney experience.
Sadly, as you know Covid 19 hit our population as early as March 2020! As a Registered Nurse, and my Husband an RT technologist we are very familiar with the havoc it can cause in the lives of so many individuals! I kept a close monitoring of Covid treatment guidelines for our patients as well as travel restrictions that would impact my staffing, and family visitation rights. I kept myself in constant communication with the New York State Department of Health, as it was part of my many responsibilities.
I noticed that on June 11th you had sent out a memo to inform us that you would be opening. However, for many different states, travel restrictions negatively impacted anyone’s ability to travel without some type of consequence, whether it be a personal health risk or forced quarantines that would extend vacation request grants beyond acceptable limits.
As a Nurse I was granted a vacation however, granted vacations were suspended due to the health crisis and high demand for healthcare personnel to care for our patients. Both myself and my husband worked 7 days a week, 12 to 16 hour’s daily without fail! We had no option, but to cancelled our Disney and Discovery Cove vacation for June 2020. When we called Discovery Cove, we were offered the option of moving up our vacation experience. That being said, we opted for the last week of October, with a hope that the Covid virus would be under control, and I can show my daughter a vacation of a lifetime!!!
Mr Miller, during the Covid peak outbreaks we experienced a significant loss of patients. Sir, when I did come home from work, my facility supervisors would call, and report patient losses, in order for me to track numbers of deaths required by the Department of Health. My Husband, wore, what we called the “space suit”, and had developed deep scars in his face from constant use of the N95 mask. In addition to our crazy work schedules, and shear exhaustion my daughter had also been negatively impacted, she had periods of crying, and nightmares. She would call myself or my husband and beg us to come home.
Sir, when I spoke to your representative at Discovery Cove, the sound of trying to trip again in October was a nice option, a chance of normalcy. Sadly, once again, 14-day quarantine restrictions for both Florida, and New York made it impossible to travel. For us, the quarantines would necessitate having to quarantine 2 weeks in Florida before doing anything, and then again when I returned to New York. As first responder’s, we could not afford that much time away from our professional responsibilities.
I can’t tell you how many times I spoke to your representatives for a refund. I was told that due to Covid 19 that you company was “backed up in refunds” but to check my account in 10 days. I was promised a refund on Sept 2nd .. I spoke to your representative again the week of September 25th and to this day I have not received a refund. On October 9th my husband had called again, and was re-assured that the company “were working on it , and were very busy”.
This letter is to again formally request for a refund to my Citibank checking account ASAP. The Discovery Cove customer service representative named Anna Kay B (497 513 4600) was one of the many representatives my husband spoke to. Please, help to expedite my refund of $1,152.80. It would be unlawful to charge me for a service that was never provided.
Sincerely,
Lisa Peterson

Hello,
I am writing with regards to the refund that I was promised over 3 months ago. The bottom line is I am a lot smarter than most people in this country, and I truly believe that you have no intention of ever returning people’s money when the park was closed. That is STEALING! I have literally called and emailed every single day, and your customer service staff is horrible.
How can you steal people’s money????
Since you lie and refuse to give me back my money – I have taken the following actions: serving you legally to get my money; and I reached out to several news stations to report on this. I have contacted an attorney if I don’t receive my refund I will file a civil suit.

You should be ashamed of your operations.
