The Del Monte name was first used in the 1880’s for premium coffee prepared for the prestigious Hotel Del Monte in California. In 1892 the company expanded and Del Monte was chosen as the brand name for its new line of canned peaches.
In 1892 the California Fruit Canners Association (CFCA) formed with the merger of 18 West Coast canning companies, including the Del Monte brand. By the 1920’s CFCA, now named California Packing Corporation, operated more than 60 canneries all over the U.S. as well as a Pineapple farm in Hawaii.
Around the time of WWII, the company began purchasing facilities overseas. At this time the company changed its name to Del Monte Corporation.
Today the company is one of the largest producers and distributors of canned fruits and vegetables in the United States and includes the brands Del Monte, Contadina, and College Inn. Pet food brands include Meow Mix, 9Lives, and Milk-Bone.
Del Monte is currently owned by a group of private investors led by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts. The company is #113 on the Forbes list of America’s Largest Private Companies, has 7,600 employees, and had $3.82 billion in revenue in 2013.

I have just opened my second can of Del Monte Stewed Tomatoes. I found that the tomatoes were terrible. The can was full of tomato skins. These are unquestionably the worst stewed tomatoes that I have ever had. I will NEVER buy this product again. NEVER. This can was just a P.O.S.! the no name generic stewed tomatoes are better. You should save some money. Buy the Wal Mart brand
Why can’t I find Del Monte Dill Pickles any longer. They are the best Pickles I’ve ever had. I grew up on them. Nothing comes close to them.

I work at one of your company the one on Parker here in Dallas I work the 1st. shift I can’t seem to understand why the manager who name is Martha always harassing the black and white employers which we are constantly being told no talking and the Mexicans allowed to talk play around with each other they even have a radio witch they play all Mexican music very loud and they are allowed to sing as well as talk to each other as loud and much as they want to,but soon as we black or white say one thing and Martha hear you she tells you no talkie talkie and she say you,you go home you talkie, it’s not fare that she is looking out for the Mexicans because she is Mexican and we have bills to pay too,every time they need to cut labor I’ve never seen her say everything to them I’ve only seen her go to the whites and blacks and you go home after only a few hours it’s not fare we can’t pay bills with 2 to 4 hours a day at 8.50,even before I started working for you guys I was hearing about this lady and every day somebody go to the office about her and still they do nothing,I really like working there now I see why nobody stay at that company on Parker long because this lady harasses black and white people to the extreme that I’ve heard some say some really bad things about her, I really feel like I’m being treated unfairly and unappreciated and I will not buy your product anymore and I’m not coming back because I’ll be homeless working for you guys while Martha is still there.Hope to hear a reply.
