Fatburger was founded in 1947 by Lovey Yancey in South Los Angeles. Originally called Mr. Fatburger, Yancey changed the name in 1952 when her Mr. cutout for parts unknown. The company opened several more locations in California, but did not branch out to other states until the late 1990’s.

Today, Fatburger has more than 150 locations in the U.S. and 17 countries. The company currently has 150 franchises and plans to open 300 more in the next 5 years. In 2008, the company opened its first location inside a sports stadium in Arizona. The company also opened a franchise in Bejing, China, in 2009.

Fatburger offers typical American cuisine, including hamburgers, cheeseburgers, French fries, and in some locations, even alcoholic drinks. This restaurant chain is well-known for offering a wide variety of burger “sizes” ; small, large, double meat, triple meat, even XXXL sizes for the super hungry.

Xenon Academy Corporate Office

Peter Michael Franelli, or Xenon as he was commonly called, is considered by many to be one of the top hairdressers of all time. Peel’s Salon Services brought Xenon into their business and the Xenon Academy was founded in Omaha, Nebraska. The school offers cosmetology courses, hair styling, cosmetic classes, nail styling, and cosmetologist instructor courses. Xenon passed away at the age of 57 from cancer, but the school continues in his name.

Today, Xenon Academy has 5 locations in Nebraska and Colorado. The school is fully accredited and is in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. Xenon Academy has had more than 5,000 graduates due in part to their Pivot Point Cirrucilum.

The school also offers a full service beauty/nail salon and day spa, so that graduates can gain valuable experience.

Islands Restaurant was founded in 1982 by founder and current CEO Tony DeGrazier.  DeGrazier wanted to put a little bit of the beach life into downtown Los Angeles, so he opened his first restaurant in West Los Angeles. The restaurant features typical American cuisine such as hamburgers, french fries, milkshakes, fruity cocktails, and speciality fries.

Today, the company has more than 50 locations in California, Hawaii, Arizona, and Nevada. Each restaurant has an island theme to it, including palm trees, surfboards mounted on the walls, tiki wood tables and chairs, as well as surfing videos played on big screen televisions throughout each restaurant. The menu has expanded to include salads, sandwiches such as The Hula and The Big Wave, soft tacos, as well as “island” desserts such as Kona Pie.

The American National College was incorporated in July of 1986. The school is based in Chamblee, Georgia. American National College originally consisted of 3 schools; Iverson Institute, Royal Beauty Careers, and Circle J Beauty School. In 2013, the school decided to put all campuses under one name: American National College.

American National College originally began as a school of technology, but added cosmetology classes in 2003. Over the past 13 years, the school has added a wide variety of classes, including computer networking, English as a second language, AA degrees in Business Administration, Health Care, and Computer Science. The school began accepting foreign exchange students with I-20, M-1, and F-1 visas to enable foreign students to study in the U.S.

The school is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education as a post secondary educational institution, as well as by the Council for Higher Education.

Everest Burgers is known for offering typical American style cuisine, such as hamburgers, French fries, and milk shakes, but it has quickly become popular due to their huge portions, as well as their variety of other foods such as fried mushrooms, fried zucchini, and chicken strips made from whole chicken breasts, not pieces.

The company has received numerous awards, including the 2006 Best Fast Food Readers Choice in Foothill Magazine, the Mayor of Glendale’s Commendation in 2009, and 2010 Glendale’s Best Fast Food award from the Glendale News Press.

In 2019, the company launced its first location outside of California in Southlake, Texas. 

The company maintains a corporate office in La Crescenta, California.
