Schoolteacher Ken Selby opened Mazzio’s in 1961 and frequently operated the restaurant by himself after work and on weekends. In 1965, Selby didn’t have time for both jobs, so he stopped teaching and operated the restaurant full-time.

By 1975, Selby had two restaurant locations and he began franchising the following year. Selby conceived a new business approach in the late 1970s. His idea called for more square footage of casual dining space, an expanded menu, thicker pizza served with much more meats and cheeses, sub sandwiches along with a salad bar.

That concept has proven to be highly successful. The company now has 165 locations in 10 states.

During the coronavirus crisis of 2020, many Mazzio’s were forced to close and conduct only delivery service or take out orders but many locations are now looking forward to reopening.

Hattie B’s was founded in 2012 by Nick Bishop Sr. and Nick Bishop Jr. The company is named after three family members who were all named Hattie.

The company also rents children’s clothing, accessories, including jewelry and handbags, and sells “essentials,” including lingerie, tights, shapewear, and cosmetics.

Rent the Runway also has the world’s largest dry-cleaning plant, which processes 2,000 clothing items every hour.

Due to the coronavirus crisis, Rent the Runway decided to close all of their brick and mortar locations and return to an e-Commerce business for the foreseeable future as of mid-August 2020.

In 2016, the company raised $8.25 million in Series A funding and in $750 million from SoftBank, which committed itself up to an additional $250 million.

goPuff mainly delivers from a list of 3,000 items that are typically found in convenience stores, such as snacks, drinks, toiletries.

In 2015, the company launched goBeer, which delivers as much as a 12 pack of beer, and in 2016, another app appropriately called goBooze, which delivers hard liquor.

The company has put all of these brands under one umbrella called GoBrands.
