 Choice Furniture was founded by Fadi Sahouri in Rockford, Illinois, in 2010. The company sells quality furniture for every room of the house, as well as patio and outdoor furniture.

Beginning with a small, single location, the company has grown to 2 large showrooms and announced in late October of 2018 that the company would remodel and take over the former Bergner’s furniture location in the CherryVale Mall. The new location will be three times the size of the location on State Street and will occupy both the first and second floors.

Sahouri wanted to give back to the community by offering free furniture, including set up and delivery, for needy families. In 2016, the company gave furniture to the 20 families who applied. In 2017, there were more than 1,000 applications. Sahouri managed to narrow it down to 30 families and said that he might try to increase the number of families he can donate to in 2018.

Detroit Bikes was founded by current CEO Zak Pashak in 2011. After losing a bid for office in his native Canada, Pashak took a trip to Detroit, where he saw a future in bicycles for a very urban environment.

The company designs and builds bicycles in Detroit, Michigan, with parts made in Asia. While some companies are selling cheaper bikes, Pashak says that not everyone is interested in the cheapest possible bicycle they can buy. Pashak says that his bikes cost more, but they are better built because they are built in the USA.

Spirit Halloween stores were founded by Joe Marver, who thought Halloween costumes should be for more than just kids. He opened his first pop-up, seasonal store in the Castro Valley Mall, in Castro City, California, in 1983. Within a decade, he had more than 60 pop-up locations across the country.

They also rely on empty stores and pop-up locations in malls and other sites to sell their products. Most stores open sometime in mid-August and close a few days after Halloween ends.

Spirit Halloween Employees Spencer Gifts purchased the company in 1999 and has grown the business substantially to more than 1,100 locations, making it the largest Halloween retailer in the nation. It is estimated that the company will earn $9 billion in sales in 2018.

A large sinkhole was found in one Kentucky location in 2019, forcing the store to close for a short time. It is unknown how the sinkhole occurred, but no one was injured.

The company states that top Halloween costumes for 2019 include Stranger Things, Fortnite, and Baby Shark Doo Doo.

Headquarters for Spirit Halloween are located in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
