Conrad Hotels and Resorts was founded in 1985 by the son of Conrad Hilton, Barron Hilton. Hilton Hotels, separate at the time from Hilton International, was unable to build hotels outside the US using the Hilton name. The creation of a new chain, Conrad Hotels, solved this problem.
Conrad Hotels are the luxury wing of the Hilton brand. Former Vista Hotel names have been abandoned for the Conrad brand. The company has 34 hotels abroad, including Dubai, Mexico, Philippines, Maldives, and Japan. The company has 14 new hotels under construction in both the US and abroad, including Washington, D.C., Bangalore, India, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the Fiji Islands.
The company operates as a subsidiary of Hilton World Wide. Forbes Travel Guide listed the Conrad Macao, Cotai Central, as a new Forbes Travel Guide ‘Five-Star’ hotel. This is the only Conrad Hotel in the world to receive a Five-Star official Star Rating by Forbes Travel Guide.
