Hurley International Corporate Office

Hurley International was founded in 1999 by Bob Hurley, who spent years working in surfboard shops shaping the boards. Originally owning the rights to the Billabong name, his lease was not renewed, and Hurley International was born.

Today, the company designs and sells a wide range of beach items, including swimwear for men and women, wetsuits, clothing, sunglasses, hats, and backpacks. Hurley products are sold online and through retailers in both the US and Canada. Although the company no longer sells surfboards, they still maintain a surfing club.

In 2002, Hurley International was sold to Nike for an undisclosed amount. Headquarters for Hurley remain in Costa Mesa, California.

Nine Line Apparel was founded in 2012 in Savannah, Georgia, by the Merrill family. The company designs, manufactures and sells patriotic themed clothing.

The company designs and sells patriotic clothing for men, women, and first responders. The original 5,000 square foot building has already become too small and due to increased demand, CEO Daniel Merritt has stated that the company is running 24 hours a day to meet demand and will need to move to a larger facility soon. All items are made in the USA.

Nine Line Apparel is listed on the 2017 Inc. 5000 list as #85 on the list of Fastest Growing Companies in America. In 2016, the company had annual revenue of $14 million and a three year growth rate of 4,402%.  Nine Line Apparel also took the #4 position on the Ink. list of Top Georgia Companies.

Boston Store was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1897. The company operates a chain of department stores, which now is owned by The Bon-Ton company.

In the 1920’s and 30’s, the company was operated by Philip Irving Stone and later by actress Jeanette MacDonald.  The company currently has 14 locations, some of them acquisitions of competitors, such as Gimbel’s. The Boston Store is one of the most well known department store names and has a 3 star rating on Yelp.

The company is looking to change direction slightly, announcing early in 2017 that they would begin offering local artisan products, such as handmade soap, essential oil infused clothes drying balls, as well as hand made jewelry. Company headquarters are still located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Lauren James was founded in 2013 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Forced to stay in bed during a high risk pregnancy, Lauren Stokes decided to sketch dresses and coats to pass the time. Lauren’s husband began to have some of her designs printed on t-shirts, which sold out in days.

Today, the company sells more than 50,000 items each month on the eCommerce site, not including items that are sold to retail outlets. The company recently moved into a larger, 20,000 square foot facility in 2016 to handle the increased demand for their products. Between 2,000 and 5,000 dresses alone are sold each month. Most clothing items, and all dresses, are designed by Lauren and manufactured in Dallas, Texas.

The company is best known for their elastic waist, loose fitting pants with generally traditional Indian elephant designs. As of this writing, the company has donated more than $145,000 dollars to elephant rescue and preservation groups around the world. A full 10% of the sale (minus taxes) goes to rescue organizations.
