Chronic Tacos was founded in 2001 by Randy Wyner and Dan Biello. The pair opened their first location in Newport Beach, California, because they felt they had to travel too far to find authentic Mexican tacos. They enlisted the help of a Mexican-American friend to be certain they were using an authentic recipe.
The company began franchise operations in 2004. The first franchise was in San Clemente, California.
In 2008, the company opened its first location in Japan.
The Mohammed brothers, Michael, Dave, Dan, and Joey, opened a franchise in Canada in 2010. They loved the company so much that they purchased it for an undisclosed amount in 2012.
Today, Chronic Tacos has 35 locations in California, Nevada, and British Columbia, Canada. All 4 Mohammed brothers work for the company, with Michael acting as both CEO and CFO. The company plans to expand to 100 locations in the next 5 years.
Chronic Tacos celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021 by doing a nationwide tour.

Soo went to the CT in Long Beach and I wasn’t allowed to order a child meal because I didn’t have a child with me. The employee said he can’t sell me a child’s meal unless I have a child present. That rule comes from corporate. If that is a rule please let me know and I will never step foot into another Chronic Taco again !!!
I have a complaint in regards to an Arizona location and no one has responded back to me!!!
It’s very poor management if you don’t call me back but just to ignore my concern and experience that I endured.
Hello, I have a complaint against the Chronic Tacos in Vero Beach, Fl. My daughter Summer Towne was hired as a front food preparer in late Aug. 2019 and started Sept. 6th shift 10am – 3pm. She was handed a shirt and hat put behind the line and given tasks with no training. She came home and her back, legs and feet were in a lot of pain. She worked the next day the same shift and was in more pain. She was not given a break after 4hrs on both days and was standing on a concrete floor (no anti-fatigue or slip mats at food prep area) When she asked about training she was told by the kitchen manager Simar, the managers Tracy and Colin were on vacation and she would have to wing it. She did not go back for her next shift. She was hired at $9.00 an hour, but when I picked up her check it was for $60.00. The check was not a payroll check with her hours, rate of pay, income tax nor other deductions shown. It was a company check (CTRG Family Restaurants LLC, 5935 20th St. Vero Beach, FL signed by Tracy Maynard. I asked Samir why she did not get paid for the 10 hours worked and why wasn’t it a payroll check, he told me it was because money for hat and shirt was deducted and offered no explanation for type of check. I texted Tracy and she is avoiding dealing with this. Please help
