Bakers Square was founded in 1969 in Des Moine, Iowa. Originally named Mrs. C’s, the company became famous for its pies. The company was renamed Bakers Square in 1983.
Today, Bakers Square is a subsidiary of American Blue Ribbon Holdings, LLC. The company has 46 locations, mostly in the upper Midwest. While there was once more than 90 locations in California alone, the decline in the economy in the early 2000’s caused many restaurants to close.
The company still features pies and is direct competition with other pie making restaurants, including Marie Callenders and Coco’s. This restaurant chain offers a casual dining experience and serves American cuisine, including hamburgers, chicken, salads, French fries, steaks, and full breakfasts.
Bakers Square has begun expansion efforts once again, with a new location opening in 2011 in Woodridge, Illinois.

I worked at the Mentor, OH location for under a month and just quit because i was being treated poorly. Was told by a manager that i wasn’t smart and was constantly stared at and made extremely uncomfortable by a much older male coworker. The management team is very unethical. An elderly woman came in the other day and had clearly suffered a stroke in the past and did not have the exact change to buy a cup of coffee. It was pouring rain so i told her not to worry about it and took some change from my backpack to put in the drawer so it wasn’t short. I told my manager so she was aware and she told me “I could report you stealing from my drawer” and “We are not a charity”. Horrible place and horrible management.

Today (6-16-21) a friend and I went to Bakers Square in Schererville, Indiana. We were told we had to use the scan on the table to get to see a menu. We do not have phones that do that task. We do not like the aspect of not getting a menu either. Also, lot of people said the scan feature didn’t work on their phone. We like to see a paper menu that you can hold in your hand. What are you going to do for people that don’t have access? Are we not allowed to eat at your restaurant, then? More people later came in and were told the same thing – use the scan. They did not have access to use the scan either. They preferred paper copy too. The waitress told them – You”ll just have to get used to this new way. Alot of people won’t be coming back to restaurants and alot of business will be lost.

We had it bad enough that amiddle age white woman told us yhat Baker”s Squre no longer sells French Apple Cheese. Pie therefore buying 2 warm and soggy coconut crea m pies for $29.00. Why tell a lie and say you don”t give veteran discounts on pies anymore. Also, the middle aged white woman’s name is not Orlando as printed on ticket number 220245.Telephone: 1(262) 784-8812 served on 10/31/2020 at 3:33 p.m. Looks like the Cheescake Factory eill get my service from now on. I went to the bakers square at 15711 S Harlem Ave, Orland Park, IL 60462 with a friend around 6 p.m. on December 27th, 2019. When we got there the parking lot was not full, but we were told there would be at least a 15 minute wait. While waiting I counted 16 empty tables and booths. Maybe there were eight or nine tables and booths that were occupied. Everybody that came in after us was told 15-minute wait. Somebody asked if they were short-staffed and they were told no that they had just become busy. but I don’t understand they had all these empty tables. We waited 40 minutes then I asked how much longer. The hostess went to ask the manager and when she came back she said she was told to clean off tables. Really? They have to be told to clean off the tables? So shortly after we were seated and we’re told that they were short-staffed. Just the opposite of what we were told when we came in. The other three couples that were waiting we’re also seated shortly after we were. All three of those couples had a waiter, we were told our waitress, Hannah, would be with us shortly. We watched as the waiter took care of the other three tables of people who came in after us. But no Hana ever appeared. Finally after waiting now about 50 minutes my friend and I got up and left. I talk to the manager, Tierra, and told her what was going on. She really didn’t seem to care and we told her we were going next door to the other restaurant. She told us to have a nice night. Evidently this type of behavior is tolerated from corporate. Because if it wasn’t I don’t think the restaurant would have been run the way it was nor would your manager really care less if people were taken care of or not. My friend and I have over the years discussed when we want to go out which restaurant do we want to go to. Do we want to go to the one with bad soup, which is next door, or do we want to go to the one with bad service which is bakers square. Some things just don’t change. You need better reliable help and a manager who knows how to run the business

Yesterday my husband and I went to the Bakers Square on LaGrange in Orland Park, IL. It was free pie Wednesday, we ordered our food and ate, after we had finished the waitress came back and asked what pie we wanted, then told us we had to order a beverage to get the pie free. I do not understand why this was not mentioned when we ordered our food – we do not drink coffee and did not want a drink with our pie. We were told this was a change from Corporate, but it was not on any of the marketing in the restaurant. Very disappointing visit.

Got a few pies for Thanksgiving. The apple pie was terrible. The crust was thick and the apples were hard. Never had such a terrible pie. Threw the pie in the garbage. Wont ever return to your store for pies again. If you sell a product like this, people will stop going to your store. Felt you should know your Niles , illinois store is NOT doing well by your company. Hope this helps you in future management selections. Susan Ziols

I went to Baker’s Square at West Saint Paul on Nov 08, 2018 to order food to take out. The person who was taking orders named, Brittani ignored my request and began serving a male who was behind me.
Shortly after, she said, ” I’ll be there”. She was bias against me for being a minority woman over a white male. I decided to walk away.
I was not happy about her treatment. I have been going there for many years, but with this experience, I do not want to go back there again.

Recently visited a Bakers Square and asked for a sandwich which I was told they did not have(tuna salad). They offered an alternative and when I received the bill the price was excessive and no effort was made to work out an amicable result. The manager was not available. Never had this happen before and it will be long time before I return to a Bakers Square.

There were two managers on site, I do like to differentiate by color, however the white person came to our booth and ask it everything was ok, I told her no, pointed out to her the problems and told her I liked what I was able to eat And wasn’t asking for anything, her rude comment was That’s to bad sorry and just stood there ( the store was packed it was pie day) said something else and walked away….the date was 7/2/18 time on 1:38pm….maybe she needs more training on communicating with customers …Two #s onticket. 220208 and60044….don’t thing illbegoing back for awhile……thank u for reading this.

Just stopped in at my local Bakers Square at 4900 S 76th St Greenfield, Wi. for two slices of pie to go. One Lemon Meringue slice and one French Apple Cream Cheese…when server brought to counter the entire front section of apple pie was missing. He informed me that it broke off! Great, but I paid for entire piece of pie, not just a portion! He went to get another piece and that also had front portion missing. He ended up giving me both pieces but I’m sure if I hadn’t said anything nothing would have been done. Manager, Brian, was sitting in a nearby booth but didn’t intervene. Just as a FYI. I took pictures of pie pieces and receipt…
This location has been here and serving our community for many, many years. I hope it continues to be a fixture here but …

How could your whole customer service be out today, December 11, Monday? Went round and round with the operator, four times. The fifth time some other executive answered to explain the problem.
Anyway, I would like you to recycle the pie plates like you used to do many years ago. Here in MN we have to put them in landfills. Thus, recyclable unfriendly.!!!!!!!

My husband and I went to bakers square on 7/12/2017. It was free pie wednesday. We ate at the store in blaine MN. Store #220221. We ordered the pick three that included pie. I asked if I was able to take the pie price off the bill or take another free piece home. I was told no by the waitress and manager because I received my pie with the pick three. Now come on people this was off the menus. I spent 29.00 inc tip. I should have been able to take my free pie home. It does not say if you order off the menus and your pie is part of your order you do not get another free piece. It says any item off the menus If I ordered the pick three on another day I would have paid the same price with no free pie. I am so disgusted with this store and if another waitress says sorry bout that I think I will Puke. That is not satisfying your customer. I am so angry Server Chantelle and whoever the lady was if she was a hostess or manager I don’t know

The Baker’s Square in NW Rochester is REALLY in need of some attention…. The parking lot has been in horrible shape for nearly Three years, and everyone is complaining about it…
We can’t Believe nothing is being done!
Also, we noticed, and heard complaints about the filthy dirty carpet as one is being escorted to a seating area.
My friends and I go there every week and love those who work there. However, we don’t understand why things are not taken care of as they should be…..

I was at the bakers square in orland park illinois Saturday the 24th of June for breakfast with friends. After we placed our order it topknot forever to get our food. I ordered a veggie omelette. I started to eat the omelette and realized it wasn’t what I ordered. So I sat there waiting for waitress and of coarse nowhere to be seen. I told another waitress about my order and ask just to give me a cheese omelette which I received. I barely make it home to the bathroom. I had diarrhea and a few moments later I threw up and was sick for the rest of the day. I called bakers square to tell them and all they said was headquarters would get back to me. Well
headquarters where are you. This is my second experience with this restaurant and by no means will I ever go there again and I WILL tell my family and friends. People pay good amount of money for food and I think we should get the right items. Thank you for reading this. Hopefully I’ll hear back from you or am I in la la land.

Went to Bakers square today for breakfast and it was the worst I’ve ever had. Sausages weren’t done, hash browns were cold and not cooked, I asked for crispy hash browns and my over medium eggs were not cooked right the whites ran all over the plate like they were on the grill for one minute.
Our waiter never returned to our table and handed us our bill on the way to the checkout.
The checkout person just said he was sorry when I told him I couldn’t eat my breakfast and why.
I eat at a lot of Bakers squares and this one is the worst!
I was at Rochester, MN Bakers square.

Orland park location on Harlem ave . no potential for greater profit . half of restaurant is always closed while other half is overcrowded with patrons waiting for a place to sit . lack of mainentance includes worn lightbulbs burning wattage with little light . scheduling of staff is horrible as so often there are not enough staff to serve patrons .

I am so disappointed in the ads I hear on the radio. They were on last year and I thought for sure you would not use such offensive ads again this year. The ads suggest that every grandparent is nasty to their grandchildren. You have chosen to make us look like scrooge and unfeeling. Also, they take away from the kids any sense that they used their imagination and creativity and grandpa was obnoxious over a stupid ad for a piece of pie!!
Get rid of your ad agency – they stink!!

Hello,
Back in July, 2016 I complained that I burned the roof of my mouth on a pumpkin pie and the waitress told me to enjoy it (after I informed her of it). I was contacted and told that I would receive a credit in the mail and never heard a word!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think he was a general manager. I can’t believe he just blew me off! I’m very disappointed. I guess he really didn’t care after all! He is a poor representative for your company!
