Simmons Bedding was founded in 1870 when Zalmon Simmons opened his first factory. Simmons did not start off making mattresses, however, but he started with telegraph insulators and boxes for cheese. As repayment for a debt, someone gave Simmons the patent for bedsprings. By 1889, Simmons was manufacturing mattresses with built in bedsprings. Simmons is one of the oldest companies in the US.
Today, the company is best known for their Beauty Rest brand of mattresses. In 2013, the company had annual revenue of $1.228 billion, which puts Simmons in 3rd place among mattress sales. In 2012, both Serta and Simmons were acquired by the private equity group Advent International.
Simmons and Serta account for a 34 percent share of the mattress market in the US, however, there are currently no plans to combine the two companies. Advent International maintains that the companies will maintain separate research, marketing, and developing departments.

A previous reviewer said it all and quite simply……DO NOT BUY ANY SIMMONS BEAUTYREST PRODUCTS. The quality is awful and they do not stand behind their product. Rather they find ways to avoid compensating consumers. My mattress is four months old and is sagging already. Actually I think it did from day one I just thought it was my imagination as a brand news mattress could not possibly be of this poor a quality. Boy was I worn and boy am I paying for it.

My daughter received a gift for her Baby Shower which was a Peacock Gliding Bassinet. When they went to put it together, the fabric liner & fabric storage liner is missing. The Item # is: 2610 – Style – 299777-071. I’ve called & a recording said I would get a call back in 2 Days. Two (2) days has come & gone. Can’t get anywhere with the phone numbers. This is my Grand daughter’s 1st baby, and she’s upset they can’t finish the bassinet. The people who gave her the gift is out of country. Is there any way you can help me, call me, or e-mail me as to where I can find & order the replacement parts that are missing. Thank you for taking the time to read my e-mail and have a “blessed” weekend.

Although I am sure no one ever looks at these comments, I want to share my experience.I purchased a Beautyrest set in May of 2017. I had a problem right away and called Macy’s where I bought the set. They sent an inspector who was very rude and almost picked a fight. I asked him to leave. Macy’s sent a new mattress. I moved from my apartment to a condo in a senior community. I soon called for another inspection. The man came and measured but when I told him he would have to lay on the bed, he said he wasn’t allowed to. He did tell me I needed a better foundation under the bed which I got. Nothing was better. A third inspector came and he measured but again, he didn’t lay on the bed. I contacted your company twice with no response. In early February, I sent a registered letter addressed to Mr. Fazio and it was received by your conpany on February 4 at 3.04 pm. I have had not response. I sent all pertinent information – receipt and paperwork. This is without a doubt the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had. I live on my social security and really can’t afford to purchase another bed but I have no choice. I even hate to donate this mattress set to a charity shop but I can’t just throw it away. I am so disappointed in the customer service almost as much as the mattress. Please understand that I am not usually a complainer but when I get up every morning with a back ache, I have to do something. I will report this the the Better Business Bureau and Comsumer Protection Agency. I am ever considering contacting an attorney to recoup my money. PLEASE RESPOND.

I purchased a Beautyrest from Simmons through HSN…it is the worse mistake I have ever made. After a month the bed sank in the middle…after many phone calls, of 2 weeks, they sent an inspector out and he said he would put in for a new mattress and box spring since the one I have, a month old, is no good. It is now 3 weeks later and after numerous phone calls they told me they sent a letter explaining what I have to do next!!!! meanwhile I am sleeping on a mattress lent to me. I am in PT for my back and that is why I purchased a Beautyrest, hoping a new mattress would help…I now have to cut all the labels off of the mattress and send them to Beautyrest, another 2 weeks in transit US mail. I have called and complained and only get the “messenger” Nina or Cindy who apologize …but do nothing to speed up the process. I am 74 years old, open heart surgery, stents, replaced hip, replaced knee and now in PT for a bad back…I am sooooooo frustrated to such an extent that I cry all the time….Help Help Help !!!! I want a new mattress and be compensated for the money I spent…so disgusted w/Simmons, and understatement….where is the CEO ????

I just got done dealing with Simmons ( because Mattress1 no longer sells or warrants Simmons, over the warranty on my Beauty Rest queen size mattress. We purchased our queen set not quite 2 years ago and now my side sags 2 1/2 inches and my wife’s sides you can feel all the coils in it. Simmons refuses to warrant it because we only have 3 slates and Simmons requires 5 slates and they must be made of oak or ash. No where on any of the paperwork does it state that we must have 5 slates. Plus when we called our salesman he said that even he didn’t know that the bed had to have 5 slates, then he told us they no longer sell Simmons because of all the complaints that they were getting. DO NOT BUY, SIMMONS SELLS JUNK!!!!!!!!!

We purchased a Silver 600 King size PLUSH mattress a couple months ago on line. I was under the impression I was purchasing directly from Simmons. Ha! Lo and behold, it was through a Factory Outlet Store, in New York. I did not realize it until after it was paid for.
After trying it out for a couple months I expected that the 120 night trial meant that it could be returned. Oh NO! Not through this outfit. Was told it could only be “exchanged,” and only after I had been interrogated thoroughly as to why it might not have been the right choice.
After some research, my husband and I agreed that we felt the Tomorrow mattress would be our first choice. But was told NO, that Tomorrow was a “different company.” Tomorrow is definitely a Serta Simmons company, and I would like to know why an exchange for that product can’t be handled by Simmons. The price would be comparable to the Silver 600, and would certainly be a better choice. Can someone please help???

We purchased a Simmons Beautyrest on black Friday 2017 and it was delivered on 12/5/17. By 2/12/18, I was submitting my first complaint about the mattress beginning to dip, as it was killing my back! on 4/23/18, I was advised to send pictures showing such. On 5/18/18, I submitted over 30 pictures, as requested, showing the mattress, the boxsprings, and the frame. THAT SAME DAY, 5/18/18, I received an email stating that my claim for replacement was denied because the dipping didn’t meet the required 1 1/2 inches, and the case could be reopened for review in another 30 days. This is HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and not good practice in helping to rectify a situation that led me to go to our local urgent care for a back xray, only to find out that it is NOT BONE related but rather MUSCLE related from a very expensive yet terrible mattress! I will tell anyone….DO NOT BUY ANYTHING THAT HAS THE SIMMONS NAME ON IT! THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!

l find this refusal to honor the warranty a travesty. The reason you turned me down was because of my bed frame. In the 30 plus years I’ve owned queen size mattresses I’ve NEVER been told l need a 5 footed frame. In fact 2 previous headboard / footboard beds l owned never came with a 5 footed frame the frames were 4 footed.
The problem is an inferior mattress. Regardless whether or not l had a 5 footed frame I’d still have the same situation. Major sagging on my side of the bed. If the box spring was showing sagging then possibly l could see your point.
Doing research on line l find l am not the only person with this problem. It’s blatantly obvious you make an inferior product. You’re Warranty stipulations are obviously made to favor you and not the consumer. I’m now stuck with a mattress that l paid a lot for that’s pretty much rendered useless after only almost 3 years of use. l must note l never had this problem with past mattresses, and to be offered a 20% discount coupon on a new mattress was highly insulting.
Maybe it’s time you rethink your policies; word of mouth and social media these days are powerful tools when it comes to informing people when making expensive purchases.
Oh and l might suggest a re-training of customer service reps. Never have l been treated so rudely.

I purchase the Simmons Beauty-rest Black Hybrid . I was introduced and coerced into purchasing the Simmons Black Hybrid by my Sales Person Juan Vellijon when I specifically went in Shopping for a Sterns & Foster King Mattress, I’ve always purchased Sterns. This was an investment purchase for me, I paid $3609 for a King mattress from Simmons and a full mattress from Sealy and I also purchased 2 expensive Protect-a-bed mattress cover that did not prevent the mattress from being stained. At the time of purchase my salesman explained to me Sterns and Foster was in the process of coming out with a new line of bedding and it could be 8-10 months before their new bedding line was released. Juan assured me the new Simmons Black Hybrid is a comparable bed, further he explained Simmons new technology makes this bed an even better option than if I was to elect one of the older Sterns & Foster mattresses. After visiting the store a couple of times and trying out the mattress, I proceeded with my purchase. Juan assured me the mattress was warrantied for 8 Years so there is no need to be concerned regarding the structure. After having the bed in my home for less than a month the side reinforcement started to fall apart. I contacted Mattress Firm and they exchanged the mattress for the same. After six months I begin to observe more of the same in addition to a dip in the mattress. I was alarmed by how fast the structure was deteriorating, so I returned to the store to speak with my sales associate, he was promoted an no longer at the store. I showed the new manager photos of the new mattresses’ dips and how the side of the mattress is protruding outward making me feel I’m going to fall off the bed because there’s no reinforcement there. I was advised to pay $39.95 and have an inspector come out to my home to evaluate my mattress for warranty replacement.
I paid the $39.95 warranty fee and the inspector came out to my home immediately upon seeing my mattress he said “Oh another one of these hybrid beds.” The inspector took photos, measured the depth on the declining dip in my mattress and asked me how long I’ve had the bed. He instructed me to follow up with the warranty department in 7 days or less. He further explained, “structurally the side of your mattress is not locked into the coils and the dip in your mattress appears to be an ongoing problem with the technology for this mattress, it has since been redesigned, we’re seeing this with the hybrid mattresses.” He Further explained, “I will turn this in for you, however there is a stain on your mattress I have to report that as well.” I replied, yes unfortunately my little one had an accident, what would that have to do with the structure of my mattress falling apart? The inspector said, manufacturers will sometimes void your warranty for stains even if the bed is proven to be a manufacturer defect. He asked me if I purchased the protect-a-bed at the same time I purchased the mattress, I advised him yes and the receipt would reflect that. The mattress inspector, said the Protect a bed failed, even though the stain was faint it should’ve prevented ALL staining.
After waiting 8 days I contacted mattress firm warranty department and they advised me, despite the details of the manufacturers structural defect they won’t be able to help me with anything. The warranty representative Henrietta, explained she could offer me a 20% coupon to purchase a new bed, however I was never suppose to receive an inspection and be charged $39.95 if there was stain on my bed. She confirmed the mattress is defective.
I could not have been more disappointed and frustrated to learn the results of my mattress inspection were, ” Yes your mattress is defective, but No we wont replace it because there is stain.” The very faint stain has absolutely nothing to do with the poorly manufactured mattress, in addition I was never advised that if the mattress protector fails to protect I need to contact some. I had no idea what the process what the process is in the event the mattress protector fails.
This is a very costly experience. As you can see from the photos I purchased the very expensive mattress cover from mattress firm and the bed wetting accident went through the mattress cover. Resulting in the mattress stain resulting in me having an unsafe and uncomfortable and structurally broken Black Hybrid Mattress from Mattress Firm, enhancing my back pain and restlessness every night.

After only sleeping 5 years on a very expensive Comforpedic mattress with a 25 year warranty, the mattress is sagging enough to cause constant back pain. I paid for an independent review of the mattress which stated that there was significant softness in the sleeping areas as compared to the center of the mattress. (This situation will continue to deteriorate.) According to the letter I received from the company’s area manager (in a hand written envelope), declining my claim the company says this is within acceptable limits. (NO IT ISN’T!) After repeated calls to various phone numbers within the company, no one ever heard of the person who sent me the letter. No one can find his phone number. Very suspicious…. why a handwritten envelope? Not very professional.
After more calls to the corporate headquarters, we were told that the mattress would have to sink 1-1/2″ to invoke the warranty (which will likely happen within a few more years, at which point even less of the warranty will be available to me. At a 1-1/2 ” bed sag I will be in the most severe back pain and unable to walk. It should be noted that I have 2 other mattresses from 2 other companies that are 8 and 10 years old and there is no sagging in either of them. Support is the same as it was the first day it was put on the bed.
Also note, independent website reviews of the Simmons company rates your company with a “C” in customer service and a “C” by the Better Business Bureau.
Replace my mattress and improve your ratings! And yes, I am angry (and in pain).

I purchased a Simmons mattress model Bedminster Lux FM PT Full Mattress from Mattress1One on January 24,2016. Mattress1One honored the warranity to replace the mattress approximately two weeks ago because the mattress has a 2 1/2 sink and the foam is bunched.
The major problem is Mattress1One no longer carries Simmons. Head quarters recommended that I contact your office for replacement.
