On June 2 Genuine (now Safelite) replaces our windshield. We are in and out in one hour. On June 6 our Toyota Sienna van starts throwing off multiple communication code errors. The steering wheel gets stiff, the van effectively has an electronic malfunction. Then we take it to Toyota and they run tests and trouble shoot issues but they can’t find the issue (picture shows them looking). I write on the Sienna Forum and spend hours trying to get mechanical support. We are without the van for three months. Finally, Toyota pulls the dash and they find corrosion in the wiring harness which costs thousands of dollars to replace and is never the same because it’s really not meant to be replaced it is installed carefully during assembly. So instead Toyota employs an overlay meaning they “jump” the corrosion area hoping that other areas of the harness have not corroded. So now $800 later we have the van back in late October and the rains start. Keep in mind no one ever corrected the original problem because our leak so so small that it could not be seen. Finally, I get a response from the Sienna Forum that this area of the van is notorious for a leak caused by an improper installed windshield and that I should be extremely careful because it will continue to leak. Then, I post on Facebook see below. It has been a total nightmare, hours of time and frustration all because a company is making faulty windshield installations. And, I was advised by my insurance agent to take my van to Genuine (They have a relationship with Genuine) and not to submit a claim because the repair was only $288.32 but my deductible is $500. What a complete fiasco this has been. They installed an after market windshield and it has cracked again already.

I had a confirmed appointment for Safelite auto glass in Bossier City to come to my residence and replace a windshield on 25 Oct 22 between 8 A.M. and 12 P.M. They confirmed the appointment by text and email and stated a technician would be in contact 30 minutes prior to arrival. At 11 A.M. I called just to be sure and spoke to Ken at the office who told me Chris Alderson was my technician and should be on the way but he’d call to make sure. Ken could not get a hold of Chris and gave me his number, I called the number given and it was a lady in Houston TX not associated at all with Safelite. I tried numerous times to contact the local office again to no avail and I called Safelite’s main number. The main office couldn’t reach the office or the technician so I left my number to be called back. No call back until the technician contacted me from my driveway at 12:35 P.M. and asked if “We were still on” I told him we would’ve been on between 8 and 12 but we’re not on anymore. He said that time wasn’t written in stone and I said sometime in that 4 hour window was in stone and that I understood unforeseen things come up and a text, or call or email is the proper thing to do when you’re going to be wasting someone’s time. During that 1 hour and 35 minute wait I called other glass companies and found Louisiana Glass in Bossier City that would replace my windshield for less than half of Safeite’s cost ($322.08 vs. $795) so I scheduled with them and canceled Safelite.

I had windshield repaired on 2017 Toyota Sienna in Huntington Station NY 11746 They did shoddy work… damaged paint on car in three places. and also damaged piece that covers windhield . Got estimate from Hartford( my ins co) … Then got estimate from repair shop to fix car I spoke to Ivan Ramirez about getting money for repairs because repair shop did work on another vehicle and didn’t get paid from Safelite. He want me to pay for work on car and get paid receipt… I told him that I’m not paying for work and then not get my money

Safelite in Fairfield, California is a complete JOKE and fraud. They “replaced” a windshield on my Infiniti G35 and put in wrong moldings which were peeling off. In addition, the moldings were not even the correct size. They told us to wait 24 hours to make sure everything is good, but in the meantime, they went ahead and cashed our check for the deductible of insurance and closed the case even though it was not complete. Here’s the little scam they have going: they cash the check and close the claim so they get the money from our insurance. Then when things go bad, they refer to their BS “lifetime warranty” so when you need something fixed, you are a LOW priority. I’ve been trying to get them to come back and fix my Infiniti since July 14th and all I get is “the parts are not in”. The technician that installed is named Kyle, ID #1818-908. I’ve had appointments made by Sherry and Sandra, the so-called office manager in Fairfield, only to be canceled on the day of the appointment after I’ve taken time off work.

The repair man came to my house a service I later realized I was charged for, he was unable to get his vacuum to work to remove all the broken glass from the frame, but still installed the glass, then ontop of that the alignment was off and the window didn’t correctly go up/down due the glass in the door. He called his manager and then told me I had to pay and go to the Pinebrook location for them to fix it, instead of doing the right thing and taking off the home visit of 25 because it was not a home visit? And now as I try to reach customers service I’m unable to!

Safelite ruined my car. If I could give 0 stars I would. First, in Utah, they installed my windshield incorrectly and left a gap. When driving across the country, my car flooded on the inside and caused extreme water damage. Now in Charlotte, they were extremely hard to get a hold of. The tech was nice when he came to fix my windshield. The only issue is when they went to reinstall the windshield, it poured rain and now my car battery is dead. They messed up my electrics, I can’t get into my car, and I have water damage. To top it all off, their customer “support” is AWFUL. They are impossible to get in contact with on the phone, rude over text, and are appalling to work with. I wish I had never gone here in the first place. I’m so overwhelmed and this has caused me nothing good.

So… Full run down. Back in December this company replaced the windshield on my car. For whatever reason, the drain tubes for my sunroof became disconnected. Living in Colorado, I didn’t really notice because it doesn’t rain in the spring like it does in Florida… Where I moved to in early April. My car started FLOODING. INCHES of water would pour in from my AC every single time it rained. Took my car to a shop and they looked at it three times before finally determining it came from the windshield somewhere… Reimbursed me everything I paid them. Fast forward to now. Safelite has been great about getting the water remediation handled and a rental while my carpet is replaced and they of course replaced my windshield again, but only after dozens of calls and several weeks of trouble just trying to reach a human who would hear me out. Overall, trying to get to a person is near impossible. There’s no direct office numbers for any location available and the managers at stores and people who DO answer will be defensive as HELL because they don’t want the responsibility of thousands of dollars worth of damage to a vehicle falling on them. To say everything has been a nightmare up until this last week would be an understatement… I will NEVER use Safelite again. I’m appreciative of the few people I finally did get to handle everything properly, VERY appreciative, but overall my experience has been one of the absolutely worst I’ve ever had with a company.

This company really is horrible ! I’m having the same issues, in fact, I had to call and make a police report from how I was intimidated by the tech after he scratched my new $ 75000 car.
USAA, has my policy now, but they don’t cut ties with Safelight, I’ll go with another insurance company.
David says
The issues with Safelight stems from the top here in Arizona. I spoke to Jonathan at Safelight local and he defense damages caused by his employees neglect, and that they can say and do what they please. USAA should not do business with Safelight, I will be changing insurance to one that does not do business with Safelight.

I no longer do business with USAA, and I have been denied by Safelight to have another company fix the windshield they install horribly , even as I made a police report on the conduct of their tech. This was 4 days ago. I won’t stop until I am made whole, and then some !!

I was referred to Safelite by my insurance carrier Progressive. The scheduling and repair were timely. However when the replacement of the windshield was complete the tech told me was aware that he damaged the paint with the tool used to remove the window molding. The Tampa location manager took several photos of the damage and told me that someone in the corporate office would be in contact with me. The repair was August 15th. Today the 26th of August and still no response. When I contact Safelite I am put into a phone loop that sends me back to the store which has no ability to authorize the repair. The manager told me that whomever was running behind. Obviously as the customer my time is considered expendable. I contacted Progressive since Safelite is their authorized representative. I was left on hold for 28 minutes before being placed back in que which rang but was never answered. The system then promptly hung up on me. Safelite either damages many cars creating the repair backlog, is poorly managed as staffing is a responsibility of management and has little regard for the customer. It is sad when staffing cuts and mismanagement ruin a businesses reputation. Safelite apparently is too busy to heir job.

I have been fighting to get my warranty replacement windshield for almost a month. I have gotten every excuse in the book to have to pay for a new one. The warranty states “automobile glass is warranted against defects in material or workmanship for as long as you own the vehicle in which the glass is installed so long as such defects are brought to the attention of Safelite auto glass within 30 days of discovery of a defect.” I did notify them with in the 30 days of discovery. My husband and I share one car. He took it to work the day before the appointment and a truck through a rock up and chipped the windshield. I made my appointment at my husband’s work because they “do not service” my address. The technician Dillon came out, saw the chip and didn’t look any further. He refused to replace it. I called and talked to the receptionist at the Southgate,mi location and was told a manager would call me back by the end of the day. I didn’t get a phone call so I called the next day and was told the manager didn’t work till Monday and he would call me. @3 on Monday I called and talked to Tom and he told me he would send out his senior technician virgil. The day of the appointment I get a message saying my technician was Dillon I called and was told the senior tech was pulled into the shop and they “tried” to call me the day before. I received no such call. So I reschedule again for another week out. Virgil comes out and my husband points out the problem. Virgil first tells him it’s the curve of the glass to the edge of the windshield. Then he tells my husband what he is seeing is the reflection of the dash off the window. He then “fixes” the chip and leaves. I look at my car after my husband comes home and take video of the defect and see the crap repair of the chip. The spot is cloudy and has black flex of debry in it and the spot is right in front of the driver. I call and talk to Tom again and he says the warranty is void do to the chip I argued and he said he would talk to the warranty manager to get a final decision and I would get a phone call back. I wait TWO days for a phone call. I call them and Tom says “oh I just got off the phone with them an hour ago I was just going to call you. They have told me there is nothing they can do the fact that it’s past the 30 days it’s been a year and the chip in the windshield there is nothing we can do.” I have been told so many different reasons as to why it won’t be fixed and there has been no apologie for the 3 weeks and 6 days of delay in fixing this problem.

Dear Customer Service and Corporate IT:
Today, June 19, 2019, I appeared for my windshield replacement at the time that was e-mailed to me of 1:30 pm in the Palm Springs, CA service facility and was told that there was no record of today’s appointment but that, after searching the scheduling system, my appointment is scheduled for Saturday, June j22 at 2:30 pm. A wasted 2-hour trip and needless miles on my Subaru. Appears to be a missing link somewhere in the scheduling system. I believe I should receive some consideration for my time and extra miles on my car considering that it is totally Safelite’s fault and I have evidence to prove it. Please fix your system so it doesn’t happen again. Thank You. Robert Behlendorf

Safelite,
I have been a self employed contractor for the last 30 years- so I’ve had plenty of exposure, good and bad, in those years in business. However, a recent experience at the Safelite shop in Missoula MT. ranks as hands down, the worst customer experience I have ever witnessed.
In short, I had Safelite replace a windshield-one that oddly enough, cracked straight across, with no apparent rock chips to instigate it. And it had not been that long since Safelite installed a new one. But, to be clear, I never really had any expectations of it being replaced under warranty, give the nature of driving in MT. When I paid, the technician went on and on about Safelites’ amazing “lifetime warranty” and I asked if he had inspected my broken windshield, and he stated no. So I went back, the next day, and spoke with Leonard, the shop manager. I had obviously interrupted his lunch, which I apologized for, and said I was curious as to how the warranty worked. “What about it??” He says, with a mouthful of food. “A rock broke your windshield” And I stated-“So you didn’t see it, but you know that’s what cracked it?” At this point, he went ballistic-stood up and still with a mouthful of food-starts yelling at me “I’ve been doing this for 33 years and if I say a rock broke your window, then that’s what did” He then proceed to yell at me “JUST WHAT F— DO YOU WANT,BUDDY?” And I tried to clarify that I was only asking WHAT was covered and that I wasn’t trying to get a windshield after the fact- to which Leonard starts yelling-AND trying to eat-“JUST GET THE F—OUT OF HERE,BUDDY!!” GET THE F—OUT OF HERE!!” on and on. I’ve never seen anything like this in all my years as a contractor. Never. I had sensed as soon as iI went in, that it wasn’t going to go well (vibes, you might say) so I turned the voice recorder on my iPhone on and as Leonard continued to yell obscenities, I held up my phone and informed him that I was recording this. To which he just gained a new pitch and continued to yell”F—YOU!! F— YOU, GET OUT OF HERE!!!”
If I found out that one of my employees treated a customer like this, they would lose their job. But, interestingly enough, I sent a complaint directly to Safelite’s corporate headquarters concerning this and no response. None. Not so much as an apology or a “we’ll look into this”. Nothing. Apparently Safelite does not understand the damage one pissed off customer can do to their business. It used to be called “damage control”, but they don’t seem to give a damn. From the number of similar reviews that I’m seeing, I think they need to get a clue. Maybe that voice record feature on smart phones will be a wake up call for people like Leonard.

Safelite wasted my 2 days and already planning to waste my 3rd day for a simple job of replacing windshield, which I paid in advance. I just requested to return my money so I can install a new glass at the dealer ship. Very unprofessional, technically not sound, and unproductive. Make customer suffer for their personal convenience. Safelite came and replaced windshield on my Yukon XL. The technician knew something is wrong with the glass, but still installed it. After installation he showed me the distortion in the glass on the driver side and talked to his manager. They scheduled another appointment to replace the defective glass they already installed a week later and instead of 4 hour window for appointment. They gave me 9 hr window, from 8 am to 5 pm. At 5 PM they texted me , no call nothing but a short text ” your appointment is cancelled, make a new one.”

I had Safelite replace the windshield on my 1998 Kenworth T-2000. They sent out a technician who claimed he was new at this and the other technician teased him about being a rookie. The windshield leaked but wasn’t to bad so I waited until work slowed down to have them come back to fix it. The same technician came back and he didn’t take windshield out. Instead he squirted adhesive where the leak was. windshield still leaked so I had to take more time off work and same technician came out. They damaged the new windshield they were going to put in my truck when they slid it into the glass rack on their truck. They had to order a new windshield and come back the next day and was another day off work, While preparing to put new windshield in technician unbolted wipers and forgot to unhook fluid hose before yanking wiper arm away from truck. This caused the nozzle to break. After watching the technician do this he turned around and told me I found this broken lying in bottom of the wiper compartment. I told him that was impossible as I squirted my windshield 10 minutes before he came. The problem is Kenworth doesn’t sell that nozzle individually. You have to buy the whole nozzle kit that lists for $89.92 but with my company discount I got for $45.54. Safelite refuses to get back to me on this issue. Technician took pictures of broken part and said his manager was going to try and find one cheaper at Pepboys and get back to me. I told him it is a dealer part and he wont find it at Pepboys. Windshield was put in and Technician wanted to know if I had crazy glue to try and fix nozzle. That didn’t happen. Waited two days and drove truck after rain storm. I hit the brakes and all the water that had collected in the aerodyne and visor came splashing down on my lap, ankles, feet, CB, and GPS. Worse than ever water poured in from driver side to passenger side. I called and made another appointment with another day off work. I was scheduled for a window between 8 and 12. At 11.45 I get a phone call from the technician saying he is going to be late. He shows up at 1.30 and looks at windshield. Technician calls his manager and leaves his phone on speaker. The manager angrily tells him just fix it we have been out there 5 times. I reminded him to mention broken nozzle to manager again. Now after waiting from 8 to 1.30 he tells me he is only here to look at windshield, He needs a helper so he is going to do another job and come back later . He comes back and they take out and re-glue windshield without taking wiper arms off. Why did first technician take them off and break nozzle? Same problem water pouring all over through top seal of windshield. I called Safelite back and they said Mobile service wasn’t working so I had to bring it into a shop and they would test it with water. I took more time off work and brought it in. I waited 2.5 hours for them to take out and put windshield in. No test was done. Last night it was pouring rain while I was driving home and my sneakers and socks were soaked by the time I got home. I lost a trip to Florida over this that would have paid me $10,000.00 I’M debating what my options are . Not only am I upset about this but why didn’t the manager have the courtesy to call me as promised? Maybe it’s time to get my money back and go some where else or consider legal action.

Made an appointment in Quincy, MA for a technician to come out and repair a pin sized crack in my windshield. The technician arrived and within 10 minutes the pin sized crack was now 31/2 inches long.. the technician said the windshield was “too hot” and therefore it cracked. Now I will need a new windshield. The service manager told me too bad it happens all the time. Never use safelight-customer service is awful.

Had a appointment on June 29 2018. Tech comes out and replaces front windshield on wife’s SUV. Tech broke the side panel and scratched the other one up bad. Did not see the job he did until after he left. Windshield was installed wrong. One side is higher than the other, bottom does not line up. Left all kinds of black tar looking stuff on the paint. Left all kinds of material inside. Tried for 3 hours to get someone back out to fix the screw up he made to no avail. FINALLY got someone in Arizona. All they could do was doXXXXent issue. Then on Sunday the 30th it rained all day. Wife was going to go to store. Inside of car is soaked with water. Dash, electronics, stereo, carpet, overhead lights, headliner, speaker. Still could get anyone Sunday. Finally got someone again in Arizona. But all they could do was doXXXXent issue. Called state farm and reported issue since they were used in insurance. Vehicle is barely 6 months old. A disaster in the making.

It was a night mare. Beware and stay away. My 73 year old mother took her vehicle in to have a tiny chip fixed. There were 3 kids working that looked about 16. They said to my mother you know that sometimes they run when we try to fix them. Well guess what, he broke her window because he was washing the chip and it was 90 out. He then said sorry you took that chance when you brought it to us and showed her the paper she signed that released them from any damage. Either he is a fortune teller or they were trying to scam a 73 year old lady into buying a new windshield. Stay away!!!

I left very disappointed. I was told that they did not have time to call to let me know that the incorrect glass was still there and the correct glass had not been ordered. That was 1 December 2017. Today is 6 December 2017, I have not received a telephone call to let me know when, if or how my windshield would arrive. Worst customer service ever. Well I too had a BAD experience with Safelite. I spoke with a lady at Corporate about 1 month ago with regards to my bad experience and many trips. She promised a REFUND of $50.00 in the form of a check to be mailed out in 7 business days. 1 month later NO check. I’ve called several times and no response back. Today I’ve emailed Corporate and if NO response back I am filing with my Credit Card company! My windshield was not put in straight and is misaligned and I have the camera’s in the front. Rain Sensor not working correctly, what a JOKE! BEWARE!!!!!

Safelite is a joke I will never shop with them again I will also make sure to let everyone on Facebook know how sh**ty Safelite is I will have them all share it. I paid 216.00 for a windshield less then two weeks it’s cracked again and they won’t do a damn thing about it I went to bed and woke up with it cracked. Everything about Safelite is horrible DO NOT SHOP. I’ve heard so many people complain about them.

Safelite sell low grade windshields, without giving notice of inadequate product. At present I’ve bought three windshields, in a two year period. Finally contacted them because their windshields break if you blow on it. A women informed me of the low grade product and informed me that this information should have been disclosed, however it never was. This company is a fraud and the people at the corporate office are deceptive, very dishonest practices. I’m going to try to file against them in small claims court. (BEWARE)!

Same as a previous complaint about Albuquerque and Alex. My door cable was broken as they fixed the door window. 6 weeks later and it still isn’t fixed. Alex deemed me a threat, I’m 64, white haired, must use a cane to walk and needed to lean on the counter for balance, so Safelite told me to get a quote from a different company for repair. I’ve now had a visit to the shop, 7 phone calls to customer service and hours spent obtaining a quote, Safelite’s attitude is they think they’ve treated me well. I’ve had to remind them that I’ve spent the time and effort to obtain repair for my door while all they’ve done is promise and as yet, not a single promise has been kept. Now our phone number and email address are associated with a customer in Massachusetts and the technician calls us multiple times, the first at time 6:30 AM, to locate our address even though we have repeatedly told him it’s not us. The last call he wanted us to answer how our information got mixed up with some other customer. This Corporation is a nightmare and have it set so that management never gets involved. You always have to deal with unknown people who have no idea of your problem, even though calls and discussions are recorded, both phone and computer. Stay with small local firms, they are less expensive and certainly won’t do a job like Safelite.

So last Friday I was fired from safelite as a technician with 18 years of experience from my family
I worked there for 1 year and a half with no issues always in time no complaints from customers or my manager
I was concerned about my pay starting the new year so I contracted Denzal which is our business partner thinking she would help answer my questions instead she had no answer and at one point was trying to hang up on me before she heard everything I had to say
One day I did 5 jobs in 8 hours and a manger from Pico Rivera named Raul tried giving me an add on job after my 5th job when my 8 hours were up
I told him I couldn’t cuz I had my 2 year old boy to take somewhere
So he threatened to call my manger from Pasadena and I said go ahead because o knew I wasn’t doing anything wrong
So they ended up firing me do to that saying I refused to do my job
They tried making me sign a paper stating that they tried giving me a job at 2:30 clearly says that on there which was made up and a lie
So I refused to sign
This company has been sued before a lot and seems they never learn
So now I have all the proof I need in their system and will be seeing my lawyer soon

The Albuquerque Office is being extremely difficult and is refusing to tell me the truth. Please contact me as soon possible to get this resolved. I do not want to speak to Alex from the Albuquerque office – customer service is lost on him.

Yesterday I had an appointment to get a windshield replacement for my 2014 Honda Accord. When I arrived at the office, the front desk person could not find my paper work so I had to wait for the manager. The manager could not find my paperwork but he was able to locate my appointment on the computer. It showed that my appointment was made and then cancelled by someone. He was not able to tell me who or why but suggested I call the main office and they would be able to trace it for me. I then said to him ok I will do that but since I am here, how long will it take? He said, oh I can’t do the job because I don’t have the glass. Can you imagine that? I asked why he did not have the glass. He said the glass is only ordered once the appointment is made. Obviously, the person that took the appointment cancelled it at the same time. I called the main office number that he gave me and talked to Executive Services. They could not tell me what or how this happened. I asked them if someone did not cancel the appointment, then the system must have cancelled it. They said no that was not possible but unable to trace it. Of course they apologized and offered me $100 for the inconvenience. I declined their offer and went on line to fine a competent company to deal with. I drove 80 miles round trip to get my windshield replaced on a very hot day and was extremely upset that I was not able to get it done as I am going on a trip very soon. The company that I chose is coming to my home to do the replacement for half the price that they were charging for incompetence. I will never use them in the future.

do NOT trust anything safelite tells you. all i have gotten today is apology after apology because they are to incompetent to do their job in 4 days. the only answer i got was “i will look into why we dropped the ball on this, i am sorry- did you want to use us?”
This is for ANY Corporate officer to answer- as safelite will be having discussions further in a more legal atmosphere. do NOT trust them, staff are undertrained or incompetent to do their job, technicians are good people but not good enough to do repairs properly, supervisors place you on hold not once but twice and try for a third time to NOT be able to get answers except we are sorry we dropped the ball.

Called Safelite to replace windshield on my 2015 Escalade, First TWO windshields didn’t work with the safety features that works with the camera on top of the windshield, I had advised them before installation that an aftermarket one wouldn’t work but they said it would, It didn’t, After two visit to my home and three visit to their store they finally installed the correct windshield, However I discovered they broke part of the bracket that attaches the camera bracket to the windshield, I call and notified Jacoby and told him what the local Cadillac dealer technician had found and he promise he would order a new part and contact me, Needless to say this haven’t happen, I will never let Safelite touch my vehicles again. The site I;m refering to is at 161 Windhill Rd, Columbia S.C.

I am currently now not employed with your company anymore but I’ve been waiting two weeks for my last check and all I’ve gotten from your company is the run around I’d like to get paid for the time I put in. I have bills and stuff to pay and die to pushing this off and being on a back burner cause I quit. Doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get paid!

I have a frined who works for you, who when needed drives or flys to other states to help you out when needed, I can not beleive you do not pay him the day he leaves for another state. Example he drove company van from maine to Ny (long trip) with Zero pay the day he drove it losing a day pay because he was driving to help you out. Not a good policy you should pay any employee for the day that is need to to arrive at site, it should not Cost them to Help you

Hello, I just had an incident with a driver of one of your vehicles. I passed him in traffic and turned infront of him as had decided not to turn. He followed me home, yelled XXXX at me over and over and told me he was going to “beat the sh*t out of me”. I appreciate that he was angry. And I told him it was very stupid to follow me home because I’m a concealed carry holder and a woman. I hope that he does not loose his job but maybe a grown up can remind him what happens when you make poor choices. Especially in a company vehicle. Please let me know if you got this. I will keep trying to reach someone until I get a response. I did take a picture of his van and license plate. And his tail lights are out, not break lights, tail lights. Thank you I’m in Alb. NM by the way. 505-362-XXXXX
