Atlanta Bread Company was founded in 1993, when brothers, Jerry and Basil Couvaras purchased a Sandy Springs Sandwich shop. The company began franchise operations the following year. The company operates a chain of sandwich and bakery shops in the US.
The company grew very quickly and by 2006 had more than 232 franchises, as well as corporate owned locations. The Couvaras brothers were charged with fraud in South Africa in 2004 and paid more than $5.5 million in fines, but avoided jail time. The company suffered as a result, with most small business administration loans going into default. The company ranked #11 on the SBA’s list of 25 Worst Franchises.
CEO Jerry Couvaras states that the company is back on track, however, and growing once more, but this time, more slowly. Today the company has about 50 locations, but they are hiring once more and making plans to re-open some of their former locations in 2017.

Why did the Atlanta Bread location @
14262 E Cedar Ave, Aurora, CO 80012
close? This was a busy place and close to home.
Sorry you don’t have a location closer.

I went in your Smyrna location yesterday and was very blown away with how you changed the inside. You have changed it to accommodate college and youth with their laptop, ant it is not designed for more than two or three seating. We come to your sandwich shop twice a month or more with five people and that is no longer possible with your seating and I am sure the college generation just sit there unlimited time and drink coffee and don’t spend money. Your locations are limited. There is a Panera shop near me with lots of seating but I have always preferred Atlanta Bread. You are going to lose loyal paying customers, with what you have done. My husband and I spent $31.00 yesterday plus the rest
of my part also spent at least that much. How much does your college hang outs spend? My sandwich was terrible by the way sloppy made and over cooked.

I was in your Smyrna location today and I called after leaving I saw my receipt said I was charged $ .80 for barbecue chips. I have never been charged this amount, even when I order online. I come there literally 2-3 times a week, was just there Monday. The lady goes on to tell me that they must’ve been ringing me up wrong because I am supposed to be charged. I go to tell her I’m not even charged online and she tells me to order online until its fixed. I’ve never had any previous issues, but that is not how you handle a customer especially when they’re spending their money. In the attachment you will find that there is no up-charge for bbq chips and they need to be on one accord.

I visited Atlanta Bread in Brick NJ tonight and was extremely disappointed. The store is located at 1042 Cedar Bridge Avenue…732-451-1400. I ordered a Caprese Sandwich and it was devoid of basil. Please note that I have had prior issues with sandwiches and on two prior occasions called the store directly over the past year noting that the order was incorrect….then vowing never to return. My husband wanted a sandwich after a movie tonight, and Atlanta Bread was nearby. When I received my sandwich it was missing basil and the bread was not toasted as I requested. I returned the sandwich, and it was returned to me with one basil leaf and a half of leaf of each half. In the past, I have had this sandwich, and I know it’s composition. I have never had issues with Panera and a robust sandwich. I will not return to Atlanta Bread.

Good afternoon Mr. Cohen, I hope this email finds you well. I am writing in reference to a terrible customer service experience. I was In your Atlanta Bread store in Brick, NJ; I am a resident of brick and I enjoy your eatery. However, this past Sunday 9/22 my experience was extremely unpleasant and unsettling. Because of your array of menu items i was slightly indecisive and I could tell that the manager who took my order was getting frustrated. Inevitably I placed my order and sat to dine in. During my wait I decided to get a cup of water at which I seen my order. The manager told me to have a seat and told me that she would bring it to me. I proceeded to do so. While enjoying my sandwich, I found hair in my food! I was extremely disgusted!! At that point I called the waiter over, who was very nice, exhibited superior customer service skills and completely understood my concern. The manager came out and asked me whether I wanted my money back, another sandwich etc. I told her that a gift card in the amount that I spent would be suffice, she opted to do a cash refund. At this point I was disgusted and couldn’t stomach my soup, so I asked for a to go soup cup. The cup was brought over and I left. Later on that evening during class I decided to eat my soup. To my disdain there were rock like, sandy textures in my soup (tomato basil). At this point the store was closed. Today I called to explain my experience to Joe, the general manager and he was very unprofessional and nonchalant. When I asked him his name, he gave it to me and hug up on me! I called the store back because we were in mid conversation. I asked if he hung up on me and he proceeded to challenge me with questions like, “Well where would she get sand or dirt”, “you got a refund, what do you want”? It seems that the experince is getting worse and worse, leading me to ask for your contact info and this email. I hope that you can figure out a way to resolve this issue . I am extremely upset and unsatisfied. I love your eatery and I truly do not want that terrible experience to be my last.

I have a question about the Loyalty Points program. Is there a way to merge points if I have 2 numbers? Awhile ago, there was a problem with the points program, as the system was down and was not able to add my points.
I gave the manager at the Dunwoody location my cell number by accident and she applied the points to that number. My account is actually under my home number, 404/252-5483.
I have 95 points under my home number 404/252-XXXXX and
28 points under my cell number 404/273-XXXXX
Can you merge these these points under my 404/252-XXXXX number?
The young woman who helped me yesterday at the restaurant said this could not be done, but I felt I should contact you as you may have more access to the Loyalty points program.
Thank you for any help you can give to me.
Regards, Linda Steger
