Barnett Helzberg, Jr., sold the business to the Berkshire Hathaway in 1995. He also authored a book about selling the family business to the owner of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett.
Today, this retail jeweler has more than 234 locations across America. The company specializes in diamond engagement and wedding rings, as well as other types of gold and silver jewelry.

I have been trying for two weeks to contact Helzbergs in Duluth, MN in the Miller Hill Mall with no luck. They were supposed to call me on the status of my order on a mother’s ring that was a Christmas present. I have called every phone # I could find in MN and corporate office and I get no response, just a message from Verizon saying this # is not available. Can anybody help me?

Call the number in our listing. They answered on the first ring

I have not been to Helzberg Diamonds since December 2021 which is located in mall here in Augusta, Georgia. I have not gone to have my rings inspected because there have been several incidents at the mall that were not good along with Covid. Finally decided to take my rings in to get inspected and one needed to be fixed, they all have lifetime warranty on them. Well because I have not had them inspected in little over a year. I have had these rings since 2008 and have done the inspections on them. I now have to pay to get them fixed. They said if I pay to have them fixed my lifetime warranty will be reinstated. I am not happy about paying for them being fixed!! I have made a decision I will NOT be buying anymore jewelry from them and I was in the market to buy some earrings. Oh I am going to pay to get them fixed and do the inspections. I think this is bad practices on the company’s part. As again I said, they will NOT get anymore of my business after this transaction.

Worst experience ever, and I feel we have a long road ahead of us!!! Getting a lawyer involved if need be . Have spend $1000,s with this store and have had huge problems.. diamond have been missing from my set today being the 3rd time .. not lost on my time but after they clean or sent off to jeweler to have stone put back in .. I go to pick up and notice there is another missing !! It’s ridiculous!! I have to drive 30 minutes one way to take my ring back and forth and I will push to the end for a full refund.. I do not want anything from that company!!

Ashley, you are not alone!
My son purchased an engagement ring for his girlfriend in 11/22 and when he went to pick it up he noticed that the gold band had a flaw where the gold was not together. It looked like a deep crease and near the diamond! He’s 23 years old and the woman in the store treated him very poorly acting as if it wasn’t a big deal and told him it’s just human error… he purposed and then he and his fiancé turned the ring back in for repair. After 3 more weeks he went to pick up the ring and now it was the wrong size and looked trashy with a huge head holding the diamond on a tiny band. The wedding band won’t even sit next to the ring band. Again they treated him like this is no big deal….” It happens, it’s just human error “ says Shevon from Novi store….” You’re young , you’ll learn that nothing is perfect in this world “ said Cheryl from the Novi store. There’s so much more, I just can’t even take the time to write it all out!
This was a disgusting and frustrating experience. These people will rip you off and once they get your money they just don’t care about you!
Stay away from these jewelers and ALL the other stores they own! Go to a mom and pop jeweler in your own town that you can trust and make sure they have a jeweler onsite.
We have already spread the word to hundreds and will forever warn others. I mean, look at all the bad reviews and lawsuits through the years!!! Anyone who would be proud to work for Helzberg must be a crook!
STAY AWAY FROM HELZBERG DIAMOND STORES!!!!!

The second debacle I had with Helzburgs started with my purchase of a $500 Citizen PCAT watch in November 2019. Very, very long story, it stopped working THREE TIMES. Three times I took it in to the Helzberg store at Oakview Mall. (This watch has a 5 year warranty!)
Unfortunately, being a satellite type of watch (PCAT) it needs light nonstop, not just several hours of daylight) At one point, a store salesman took in the watch to keep for 2days. He called me back a week later, saying he’d had it in sunlight and it “is working fine”. Guess my home light isn’t good enough, in that once I picked it up, a day later, stopped working again. See a theme here? I know, $500 isn’t a ton of money. My card limit is only $3000 and I’m not a huge money-maker for Helzberg. But I did expect to some day, somehow, have a nice working watch. The Oakview Mall store manager, Kristen, said I was threatening to start trouble and she had done all she could do. If trouble means getting fair treatment, yep, I’m trouble.
Finally with it not working again, I’ve proceded up the chain of command to their phone based “customer care”. NO HELP. After over 29 emails and phone calls, the phone rep said that the Omaha district manager declined to allow an in-person exchange for even a less expensive Citizen. I’m a pretty good guy, hold my temper, and try to be aware of what common sense tells me. BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I haven’t given up yet, but I won’t buy another item from Helzberg as long as I take air.

I worked for this company. And I believe all the reviews posted. I took in an heirloom diamond ring for repair and it came back damaged. And they tried to blame me. Then when I had vacation time and sick time the manager denied it. Gave my notice and they didn’t pay out the time. They are crooks at best and lie and deceive the public. And steal from their employees. One of the worst companies to work for. Security?? What level do they think they are?? Its cheap shit. Buyers beware.

I went in to get my ring cleaned at park meadows mall in Colorado today around 2:30. The lady working wasn’t nice at all. I asked to have my ring cleaned and if I could possibly get a replacement card for the inspection. She told me she couldn’t just give me one without knowing the last time it was inspected. I told her they had replaced it before and she ignored me. The guy working wasn’t so nice either he was trying to look up my account and my husband had changed his number so he couldn’t find the account. I asked if he could just looked it up by name and he acted frustrated and said I can try. Well like I thought that worked with no problem. They did give me two new cards one for the ring and one for my band and the lady told me that they told it the way they do so I can put it in my wallet and not lose it. Talking to me like I was dumb. Ok well what if my wallet gets stolen or my house burns down. Then what? Do you not keep things like this in your system. I told her thanks when i left but I got no response from her. This isn’t the first issue when my husband got my band and had it sent off to be sized before our wedding at this same location the man put the size in wrong and it came back to small. Of course nothing was done to make that issue better just am apology. We have always shopped here but I can promise you we will. It be buying from here again.

To Whom it may concern,
Just wanted to let you know that My wife & I were recently in your stores at San Tan Village in Gilbert AZ . It was 5/13/17 about 11:15 am when we walked in. I must say that it was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. At first it seemed as though they didn’t want to wait on us (which I understand why now). So after about 3 or 4 minutes another lady came out and then they went back and forth about where the charms were located. So we finally walk over with one of the sale associates to where the charms where. As my wife and the sales associate where going over what charms my Mother In Law wanted for Mother’s day.
I decided to look over at the Movado men’s watches. As I am looking at the watches all of a sudden a voice comes over the PA system. It said you are under surveillance and are being watched (like I didn’t already know that being in a jewelry store with all the cameras.) It was very loud and then a few more words were said; I don’t remember exactly what though. At this point my wife & I are the only two customers in the store and we felt very offended. Then the voice comes back and asks is everything alright and the sales associate says yes everything is okay. Now I understand that the way I was dressed may not be to your type of customer standards. It was like 90 degrees and I was wearing shorts and a t shirt (a rock concert t shirt) but that is no reason to pass judgement on my wife & I. We both felt very upset by this and angry. If it wasn’t for the fact that I wasn’t sure where to get what my Mother in Law wanted for her special day I would have walked out and bought them somewhere else. Like I did for the watch that I was going to possibly buy at your store. Not sure why you have to make your customers feel like they are criminals just because of how they may look or dress. All that could have been done in the privacy of your store manager and the security company- no need to embarrass us.
I am so glad no one else was in the store because it was very embarrassing. So I hope that maybe now that you know how your security practices make people feel there is something you can do to change how you handle those of us just coming into your store to spend our hard earned money on your products that look a little different then your typical customers or maybe you should just put a sign up on the door so we know we are not welcome and neither is our money. Needless to say, there are 3 other jewelry stores on the same block, so when next we are jewelry or watch shopping, we’ll be sure and choose one of those stores instead.
Thank You for your time in this matter no need to worry about us ever coming into your store again and making you feel uncomfortable also none of our family will be there either or many of our friends that we have shared this story with. We will be sure to let everyone know about how they will be judged when entering a Helzberg Diamonds store.

Recently took my ring into the lee summit helzberg location for a diamond replacement. When I went to pick it up, it no longer fit my finger. I tried to explain to the lady that something was wrong with my ring and she looked at me like I was crazy. Had to explain in more depth which finger I wore it on and that I could’t get it on that finger. Came to the conclusion that the jeweler had resized my ring from a 7 down to a 5. How does this happen when the repair slip stated only a diamond replacement. I was very upset. They tried to tell my husband that due to it being the holidays it must have gotten mixed up with another order and the jeweler looked at the wrong ticket. In case you havent noticed, jewelry is expensive and when you send it off to be fixed, you are trusting that it comes back it great condition.. All my jewelry has sentimental value to me. What happens if the jeweler looks at the wrong ticket and puts a different stone other than a diamond in a ring that should have had a diamond?? I have not gotten my ring back to see if it is right yet. Very UPSET with how things were handled….

I want to speak to someone from corporate. Not a customer care person to tell me they are in contact with the store. You are wasting my time. I have been waiting nearly 4 month for the return of my husbands citizen watch that I sent in for a simple repair. I’m tired of talking to a middle man. Give me someone that can make some moves.
